I agree. They added Leeds to combat lag from too many boats. Really hope they don't have Leeds day one becuase I loved having the freedom to go anywhere on my raft.
If you want to make a raft completely Leeds-proof it is possible, xONEWINGx made a video a long time ago on a cage by building foundations with spikes off of them below the boat that stop Leeds from getting in attack range while it’s still so they just sit there, doesn’t work for alphas tho and it’s pretty hard to build right and takes up like half your structures. Best methods to survive imo other than just avoiding deep water is to build a plant X that slows them and makes it easy to outrun them or carrying repair materials for the boat on you so you can dismount, repair, then go back to driving quickly so it will last much longer to make it to shore. Turrets set to attack leeds, dropping lots of honey, guard water dinos, and decoy rafts can also work/help sometimes.
Something I noticed when dropping the foundations like you did is that when trapping a Theri it damages the raft and can destroy it if not knocked out fast. Raising the foundations a bit helps.
Yeah if foundations are too low then the top is exposed, what I do is put the foundation over where you drive lower so you can mount, and the other 8 foundations covering the raft a level higher (and any others off the side at that higher level. You can also put a trapdoor over he rudder to protect that but that’s usually not needed in pve
In ASA sunken foundations actually do block a lot of Lead attacks unless they hit the little crack between foundations that you use to drive it. You still have to kind of be careful but it helps.
My worst Leeds experience was gen1 launch, spent a day in the swamp dying to those bug swarms, went to ocean biome crafted raft, bed, forges, smithy, chests, set sail, boom! Lost it all lol. Moved to the arctic biome and stayed there.
another certified classic by llama, was wondering when asa comes out im assuming you plan on playing official pve as you have been, would you be planning on playing on xbox or playstation, i guess it doesnt matter as much as they are crossplatform. another question is will you be playing alone or will you have some friends
Thanks, appreciate the comment. Yes I will be playing Official pve, given cross platform I will probably play on both consoles depending on which room in the house I'm in :). I have always been a solo player with the exception of my wife and son logging on occasionally (but they haven't played since Fjordur launched). I do ally with friends, which helps on some of the tougher bosses in the later maps but generally prefer solo play at my own pace.
I make alot of leed rafts on official best defense ive seen is plant species x and a meg or 2 following on aggressive if no megs plants will slow them down usually enough to get away alpha leeds will 2 shot ur raft so get to the shallows cause u probably will take 1 hit initially before the plants hit him causeing him to slow
Thanks, its OK I have thick skin lol. This vid wasn't really a serious tutorial it was just a bit of fun. I may get to re-testing this in ASA at some stage in more depth but there's probably a lot more other stuff to cover off first if I'm to be honest. Thanks for the support, I appreciate it.

For ASA on Island if Leeds will be there day 1, the east side of the map Leeds don't spawn, even in the deep water.
I've seen it done years ago had a friend show me just started back up I'm playing it with my gf and wanted to build one

the Leeds were one of the dumbest things they ever done tot he game it makes boats useless if you need to hug the shores then why even use a boat.
