How to Build a Taming Raft

- This build uses more than the maximum structures that the defaul Ark settings. If you are playing a single-player game or the server you are playing on doesn't let you finish it, you can use the cage part (back of the raft) 3x2 instead of 3x3, which will reduce 7 pieces. Also, you can replace the window frames and windows with only window frames or walls. The rails on the cage to prevent the raptors from escaping can be eliminated, or use only one-story-tall walls on the back. Finally, the three ceilings I did use to make a second floor on the side of the raft can be eliminated too.
About the mats, doing a fast count, the build will need:
1 Raft
44 Walls
9 Ramps
5 doors
2 rails
1 ladder
3 sloped walls
21 ceilings

Great minimal and fundamental design. Will try to make improvements on my own with default structural limits to see if it can be optimized more or add some quality of life changes like easy removal of the tamed dinos. This design can be used as the base design of the one I am formulating. I'm trying to formulate an all size fits all trap including a Quetz. Thanks so much for this.
Also, toastbloke has a guide on how to put full foundations on the raft or motorboat that will not interfere with your interaction with the raft/motorboat. Meaning you can ride the thing with all foundations placed on the plaform.
If ur on official don’t add the third row, you’ll be able to place everything necessary including argy trap and the fence upstairs to prevent dinos from falling, unfortunately you can’t place fence downstairs for small dinos due build limit, however great build just finished mine

Maybe just put window frames instead of door frames for the small dinos since you can't put the railing
Had a moment of surprise and confusion when I saw the thumbnail, I thought it looked EXACTLY like a taming raft design I came up with myself, that's very similar to this, though on watching the video I did see where it was a bit different. Will probly take a few ideas from this to refine my own with a new build, since the last one got double teamed by Leeds and eaten in a couple hits. Thanks!
Sorry about your raft. To you know if turrets can kill Leeds? I am working on a taming raft for underwater creatures.
Will metal foundations dropped still protect from Leeds?
This is amazing after I built it a Spino spawned down the way from me and was terrorizing the locals but he’s mine now and much happier. Not bad for a forced test run

I spent ages making but exceed raft structure limit 3/4 of the way through the video. Do you have a mod on?

I am not sure about the setting on the server I did the build, but on my single player settings I did increased the Platform Structure Limit to 10. Also, I did this build in a PvP server with official settings and had to remove some of the parts to be able to finish the raft; like not using rails (except the one at the end of the Argy trap), not using windows, using a 3x2 cage at the back instead of 3x3, you can even remove the 3 ceilings and the ladder for the 2nd floor area.
came back when I hit a structure limit also. So I can't do this on solo.
You had a gate on one side of the pen, didn't build it that way though. Nice desgn, I will use, cheers 🙂
In my single player have the Structure Limit high and I was able to put it on my firsts build and test. But on the server I am playing now I wasn't able to put a gate on the raft. That is why I used walls instead, but if your server or single player let you put a gate use it, saves time when you need to take your dinos out.

Make it a motorboat now. So much faster to zip around the island in. The raft is cheap to make anywhere, but it's so painfully slow in comparison.

Can a griffin fit in the Argentavis trap?
Back in ASE I used the same trap structure to tame Griffins, didn't test on ASA but should work.

I have tried to build this twice, and when I make the back pen 3x3, it wouldn’t let me put 1 or 2 doors on the back due to foundation support.
If is not possible to do the third row on the back, with two rows will work exactly the same. I added the third row to have some more room to transport creatures.

Can you make one with a hatch doorframe as floor to take T. rex out of raft?
That could work, but since in ASA now we can pick up items from the structure, it seems easier for me to just pick up 4 walls and rail to open the way out to the tames. But thinking about the Hatch doorframe, maybe using it will save some materials. Going to try that.
@@Gamer53-ur6uc It didn’t let me pick up structures after the timer but I played on official. It gets so expensive in the beginning to make. But also I think it would be better as roof than floor. Idk so many ideas 😂
@@blackkingvipermake sure it’s not damaged, that will stop you picking it up. I don’t play official so I don’t know if that’s a server option stopping it
@@blackkingviperThere's no longer a timer. Like the other guy said, when it's damaged you can't pick it back up, so just repair it.
Cant lower the foundations like that how did you do it?!
When you put the foundation is like two steps, first for the location (1 click), then you have kind of a confirmation, there you can move up and down to move up or down the foundation. Is the same when you do it on the ground, maybe try it on regular ground first.
I live on a murder motor boat with medium dino storage indi forge everything i need defended by megs sarco dunk(for farming underwater) tuso basils electr eels beezo for water defence i had a few attempts who fell in the water n fed my tames 😂😂

And heavy turrets 1 set to survivor lol
Dimorps inside and out follow distance high and 3 ryni i tamed with raft 😅

I have everything set to follow motor boat so they dont run off they have to blow up my boat which will be hard but possible and costly capped plants and turrets and im breeding super dimorphs next ill tame up troods for inside in to super troodons 😅

ASA seems to have different dino ai pathing. Is that the reason for the stairs then the roof pieces? Could you use stairs all the way?

I use the stairs at the bottom just because some times is easier for me to jump into the boat with stairs than with ramps. And yes you can to all the way up with stairs.

is this with creative mode on?
No, some of the example tames were in single player and the build and other tames on a server.
gotcha. tried it on single player and there was a limit to how much i can put on the raft! Cheers
can it tame a thyla?
It works with Rexes which is much larger. Just use your Argy to pick the Thyla and drop it in the trap.
Yes, just lure ot to the raft or pick it up with a flyer
what about leed's
You can't build a leeds proof raft. Your only safety is to stay close to shore.
They will destroy your raft
One thing I can think of is to have a bee hive in the raft to produce a steady supply of honeys, I don't know if this hive will count as a structure in the structure limit.
Now use the honeys whenever a Leed attacks you and the Leed will stop attacking for a short time and use that time to get away as much as possible and do repairs once you are safe. I have not tried if honey will work on Alpha Leeds though.
