Game I'm trying to expand my raft but it stop me after 1st row of ceiling tiles I have seen many videos but when I put the thatch roof tops then try to add more foundation it won't let me
@@mcastro3679 on ascended they changed it. you can't use foundations out past the raft anymore. i don't know what made them change that, as it was a better system, but that's just how it is now. you can use basically 9 foundations on the raft, and then only ceilings past that. ofc, you want to leave one of the foundations, usually the middle one, as a ceiling or hatch so that you can easily access the raft to drive it.

To lower the foundadtion on xbox, click right trigger to start placing and you'll see the circle thingy if you want to change it's rotation, then just pull the right thumb stick up and down
I always start on Ragnarok and work until I get the raft unlocked, and then I build a raft base. It was the best way to build a base even inside someone else's build restriction area. When starting up it was very common for a large base to be in the spawn location.
well i hope my video will help you on your journey on the island for now! Still have not seen a boat like this so far on official! Everyone is going (no middle/back) foundation. Which is very weak.
There is no timer on picking stuff up anymore in this game
There's another way to lower foundations enough to access the raft from anywhere on it. You start with a wooden sign right in the center of the raft, well slightly in front of it, placed while facing forward from the tiller. Use the obvious 4-5 inch long slightly thicker shadow near the center on the left edge of the middle plank as a reference to line up with (put the sign at the halfway point of the little groove). Once the sign is placed, put a wooden pillar in front of it using the bolt near the top of the sign to align left-right with the gap at the top of the pillar, and then lower it so the very top of the pillar is just above the bottom of the top slat on the sign, maybe a half inch or so above the line between slats. Next snap a wooden ceiling centered on top to the pillar, and add one wooden quarter wall down from the ceiling to meet the deck of the raft. Finally snap your first of 9 foundations to that quarter wall, then test if you can still see and use the 'drive' prompt through the foundation (you can also usually tell you have the height right by the bits of raft visible in the deeper surface details if you use stone foundations, once you know how it's supposed to look). If it's low enough and the raft is still accessible, pick up the pillar, ceiling, wooden sign and quarter wall, and fill in the rest of the foundations. If not, pick up everything except the wooden sign, and adjust the height of the pillar to be a tiny bit lower than your last attempt. You get a feel for it after a few rafts, I tend to get it on the first try now. If you can't place a full 3x3 grid of 9 foundations, start all the way over but adjust the wooden sign forward or backward slightly, whichever direction is opposite to the end you couldn't put the foundations on.
Another way is you can switch out the middle foundation for a ramp going down. Then place a roof under connected to the ramp which blocks off the bottom.

you can lower with pillar still you just need to use a fence foundation first. 1 extra step but its still available.
I managed to do it an alternate way, almost like how many would used to do with the fence foundation, just set the fence foundation and a regular foundation should snap to it. Great video btw!

@@Yodesla a different way to sink the foundations, place a fence foundation to where it ends and covers the hole on the raft when you hide the sail, then you can snap foundations off of that

bad idea you can still get one shot by large swimmer dinos then lose the whole base and anything in it they atk the raft and bypass the foundations.
Is there a way to prevent that? I was building this to try and save the raft but went traveling and still got sunk.

Hiya thanks for this. I tried it very carefully many times last night, but failed. I got it to connect just as you demonstrated with the correct foundations aligned to their correct connections and the right gaps and depth sunk to etc., but (maybe since one of the patches the last few days) I could not grab the tiller of the raft at all. I worked round it by using a triangle foundation at the back which allowed me to get low enough to grab the teller of the raft on top, but protected all but the tiniest gaps below. Using ceiling tile extensions I was then able to create my wedge shaped landing craft / house / Mobile Terranosaurus trap and pet store with a large stone gate at the back.
I'm in the same boat (pun intended) and I wonder if a patch "fixed it" so we can no longer reach the tiller anymore.

To add to this, use the Stone wall secret door, it will save you item count on your raft builds!

@@Yodesla there is a way to lower foundations with pillars using fence foundations, the snap points are very finicky, but you only need 3-5 wood fence foundations and one pillar. the result is a similar thing to your design.
and it can be boarded from underneath but you cant hit the raft with a pike.

That is insanity. Say you played from 2015 - 2023. 8 years. 32000/8 = 4000h a year. 4000/365 = 10.9h a day. Close to 11 hours a day, everyday for 8 years bro…
Yes you can absolutely sink foundations. Cwnter pillar near shore and lower, ceiling on top of pillar, quarter wall, place foundations and profit
Alternatively, just place a ceiling window where the rutter is and then add walls underneath it and another ceiling to complete the box.

I find it funny that people found out you can sink foundations with the help of a fence foundation, but didn't realise theres an option on the house.

i was actually able to use this and make the gap even smaller to where only one small corner of the foundation was gapped so u can still drive it but its basically completely sealed off

What's the keybind for sinking the foundations? On PC I've tried every button and can't seem to figure it out.
press E to lock the camera and then use the mouse up and down to where u want it!
I ended up using the down arrow key on numpad.
u can sink them just place a wall on the edge of where the platform ends then place a foundation

Place it where u want. (use whatever button u use to place normally I think its E) Then use ur mouse once its locked (where u can turn it) and then just scroll ur mouse up or down to lower or raise it.

Imagine the devs just letting the large portion of raft users in the community just build fortified rafts. There not even op. The entire game is catered to no lifes on disability who never have to leave thier console if someone has to "cheat" to have a base ur game sucks. They didnt need to make it this hard. Just here to recommend to change your RUclips shorts. The thumbnail was so misleading, hugely disappointing. I honestly thought I could build my raft into a better looking raft but all this tutorial video showed me is to build a brick of the ocean. Yeah it's armored but that thumbnail was the real reason I watch this video for. 🙄

@Yodesla we tried it. Foundations are always a bit higher than yours, and half of the server tried to make it lower.. idk, but we must use a ramp to hide open space. In ASE it was easy to do.
