*Bought a 500 for an ultralight rod. It's very smooth **enjoyable.fishing** recommend casts great. One odd thing- the bale wire is a bit heavy diameter in my opinion for a reel of this size. But a great purchase.*

Yet she can't handle the fish she caught, neither does he actually. Throwing them on top of rocks or losing them in the crevices. I learned fishing from some oldschool, hardcore guy's and I know they would get really annoyed with both of you. 1st rule is to give those fish respect. If you pulled it out of the water, handle it with respect

One of my RUclips people i follow i'm sure he fishes that side of L.I. , his channel is called " Fish Your Way ", Jerry Ruff. Back in the late seventies and early eighties i would purchase a parking license and park at west end two or Captree and sleep in my then Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer and loved it. Long drive at the time from Brooklyn to L.I.

Hey really enjoy channel don’t want sound like a jerk but you should take better care of fish and releases. Stripers aren’t fresh water bass should give them a gentle release and dropping them on rocks and stepping on them getting hooks out. Otherwise great content

To his defense, I haven’t watch all of it but he took care of ones he caught. Unfortunately, sometimes that”s what happens on jetty. I do lot of jetty fishing and sometimes fish comes off and jetty isn’t easiest place to handle fish. Stepping on gently actually do less damage sometimes. That said, you should get yourself a Korkers. Not to step on fish with it of course. :)
GrumpyChickenHeart completely understand but the young lady football toss with striper then two dropped fish in rocks. If your gonna film it and post should try not to show stuff that ol crummudgen like myself will try to constructively criticize. Maybe using an inexpensive lipper or boga grip will greatly reduce losing fish in rocks. Really isn’t too hard to properly land and release fish. Just saying I understand it’s all a learning process. I see large percentage of fisherman /RUclipsrs mishandling fish. I was guilty myself for longtime till I learned to be more responsible. What worries me the most is the sharp decline of fish population from bait to gamefish. The stocks are in trouble and every thing we can do to slow the decline is important including releasing fish as quickly and safe as possible. Stripers aren as hearty as one might think. Sorry for the rant. Tight lines !

Hey man, don't normally comment on vids but love the content! Getting out to long island about September, and buying a recording setup. Do you normally film in superview/wide? I see it was uploaded in 4K, was this 4k30 superview? If I didn't necessary love super view for some shots I've taken, would linear or wide mode be too cropped to get a nice full field of view fishing? Or does removing fish eye in post editing be too restricting? Besides that subbed and looking forward to your late summer/fall vids!

my guess moriches inlet. People all over the comment section are asking where is this place. What so hard about sharing the location?? It’s so true what I read a long time ago about signs of a true successful person. A successful person will always share how to be successful not only because of love but universal care. Unfortunately because of a sad reality which is after “PROVIDING!!!!” for everything from knowledge, equipment and transportation they still they want you cast the line for them. So you see even if you tell them are they going to go. ?

so earlier tonight I came across a vid of your from a couple of years back,, when you were going by the handle Fiskar Outdoors adventures
so I was watching the one where you took a small boat out on the Long Island Sound
since I have not seen any boat vids of you since then ,I was wondering why you discontinued making those trips to the sound,,, my plan is to someday , if i survive the virus,, I am 63 with underlying stuff, I plan to move out to suffolk county and get a small boat like you guys had and fish the sound for as long as my body holds up,,, maybe the next 20 yr,,,

I can understand your concern. There’s definitely a learning curve with saltwater fishing and I get better at properly handling fish as I go, as does everyone who is new at anything. I do, however, see men that have been fishing for 20+ years still drop fish on the jetty. It may not be right, but it’s a reality that happens sometimes regardless of skill or respect for the fish. Any harm is completely unintentional.
A cheap fishgripper would help. Still, great fishing though.

try using a longer leader then you can grab the line with one hand while maybe tucking the rod in your armpit ...it works great for me and as for them coming off the hook, try setting the drag a tad tighter and send that hook home ! blue fish have strong mouths
it's the circle of life lol eventually a raccoon or rats or something will eat the cocktail ...i don't want to see you lose a PB Striper in the rocks especially being new to the sport that would suck

Hard to get near the water to release a fish when you don't even have the proper footwear for a jetty. i.e. Korkers

I guess people think it’s more ethical to do catch and release? I think it’s the other way around. Catch and release is like - you torture a fish for no reason, because you’re looking for sport or entertainment. If you hunt for food that’s a whole other story.

@@xstreamcleannyc6931 100% not Jones. The Lido west side doesn’t have a tower on the rocks and you would see the houses and buildings in lido in the background. Besides you not allowed to fish on that side. If it was the east side their is no bridges and you can’t see the pencil on the ocean parkway in the background when he spins. Yeah definitely not
Jones I run a boat out of there and have fish the west end of jones jetty in the fall for 30 years.

Enjoyed the video but it is a little annoying how paranoid he is about spot burning. I never expect a fisherman to divulge there exact location. But come on give a little more than out east! I read all the comments just to see if you would give a general idea, nope. Ignored all those questions!! I surf cast mostly from Long Beach to Democrat point and occasionally Montauk. Oh no! Did I say too much :)
I see u can’t find spots on your own. It’s annoying when people barely fish, get lucky one day post a picture and tell all their friends and as a local going back the next day after fishing it every day and theres40 people fishing it. If u catch fish u stfu about where and just enjoy it to yourself. Spots are earned and found not given
