i love watching stuff like this while i play post apocalyptic/ war games, makes me feel like ive got a small sense of urgency and such.

I love the idea of this, honestly one of the best parts of zombie movies or indeed movies examining any kind of mass epidemic or destruction is the news reports or command room scenes. However while some of the actors do a great job, some of them are very poorly prepared....That expert with the long hair just reading his lines of a paper was so annoying!
Orcrist this is why I love dawn of the dead remake it showed the mayhem and if you bought the dvd set you even got the news products talking about the virus and you saw the world slowly coming to an end. He also left a little mystery to what the cost of it was leaving it to our immigration best directing I’ve seen in a long time in a zombie movie.

I think my all time fav is still when they find the tv in night of the living dead remake, the one with Tony Todd. They plug it in and it’s the straight up emergency broadcast system and the music gets super ominous.

This is really terrific "zombie news footage", one of the very best I have ever seen. Very well done. With "running/fast" zombies, it seems very unlikely that anyone will survive.

I've been trying to get a good little zombie "fix" today, and this was what I needed.
When half of your commentators are proclaiming "FAKE," then you must be doing something right! Though this is more of a compression of time (I would imagine all of this taking place over at least a couple of hours, at least here in the states), I like that you kept up the continuity (site going down) and the time delay with the satellite reporters. Lot of work went into this... much respect.

Seeing a zombie initial outbreak through the POV of news media, which is indirectly those sheltering in place in their houses too, is amazing, giving a different feel.
out of curiosity, how do reporters stay so calm when someone is eaten or something?
kinda fun, but just lame. First off, these have to be the absolute most laid back emotionless reporters/newscasters in history -- "Oh, zombies eh what? Bad show guvnor." Secondly, running zombies. Thirdly, in bad bad makeup. Fourthly, audio levels are all over the place -- an actual mix would have been nice.

When the dude says that the buffer zone acts as a "vacuum" for the rioters, it puts me in mind of the World War Z book, where large groups of survivors would be corralled into one heavily defended spot and the hordes of zombies would be led there so they could have them all in one place to deal with. Basically using uninfected civilians as bait to draw zombies into kill zones.
And I swear, if I ever see anything on the news that has even the potential to be the start of a zombie apocalypse, I'm immediately stocking up on supplies, soundproofing the walls of my pretty small apartment, and covering up every window. I'm on the ground floor with a patio that I can pretty easily block from view that I could use to collect rain water, and I already have a small garden back there. All that said, I also believe that if a zombie apocalypse somehow happened in the real world, the military would probably handle it far more effectively than popular media portrays.

In these movies, the authorities are always portrayed as downplaying and denying the danger. As we saw with COVD, though, you actually have to crank the fear up to 11 to have any chance that people will pay attention to you.

As I already mentioned somewhere else, there seems to be an absolute proliferation of zombie/type films involving a worldwide pandemic. If the movie industry is not trying to tell us something, then it has to be more than coincidence why the public are being bombarded with zombie/pandemic films.

This short film is very well done it looks amazing. Good job to the creators. This kind of seems like its part of the dawn of the dead universe just a different news station in Europe showing whats happening on there side of the globe. This was very well made! I love the post-apocalyptic genre but there are too little films or videos during the apocalypse.
Acting is good but there are holes in the script: first the reporter says the origin of the disease is unknown and then he's talking about a virus while there's still a consesus that it's just rioting and violence. Aside from that this is pretty cool!

This is because the virus attacks the brain and shuts down all other parts except for the basic functions. Oh, and there are disease that work like a zombie virus. However, these diseases are weak or have a cure. Any disease that causes such symptoms are known as "rage" diseases. Rabies, Mad Cow Disease are some of these "rage" diseases.

I always have this question, how can a virus that can only be spread through physical contact result in a global pandemic especially given in most zombie fiction, it takes at most an hour on average for someone infected to turn, you'd think such an outbreak would be a bit more contained

Especially if you think it's just rioters.
From a strictly realistic point of view, no, a zombie apocalypse would not succeed. Despite the fast spread of the plague, and with apologies to zombie movie makers, civilization would not collapse in a day or in many days. The mass of police, state troopers and military would not be overrun. In the beginning, there would be a lot of losses, until authorities got to know what they were dealing with, and then it would be a matter of overwhelming weapons against a n unarmed and brainless mass of zombies. Lots of losses, yes, but the plague would be brought under control.
