Katyusha on Anglo Concertina

  • Inspired by Kato Toru‘s work( • Katyusha on concertina... ), but I almost got crazy about to play the tune in C minor like he did. So I just escaped from Kato’s video and arranged this E minor version, to reach an easier fingering and more even accompaniments.
    This is probably not a good arrangement, which is, even myself can’t play it well. Hoping I can make some improvements on this piece later.
    Instrument: Bastari/Stagi W-40-MS
    Recorded in Changchun, China on Mar 15, 2022.

    I like how every time you suck more air into the concertina, it sounds like it's taking a deep breath in between lines.

      I’m glad you’re saying that, but, that’s a sign of the arrangement is not good…

      @@lazynetter8093 or, just try working the bellows a bit more? I'm just starting out on a normal accordion, and don't mean any disrespect, but this song seems to have a lot of single notes, during which a change of the direction of the bellows should not cause any loss of sound.
      Or am i wrong?

      @@NerdyCatCoffeeee I used to play this tune on Bayan, but for concertina it’s a bit different, its one button makes two notes on different bellow directions, and some notes/chords are only available on one direction. Yes, more working can make it sounds better - like play it in other keys, but play in Em for this tune has a easier fingering, however the bellow work will be harder.

    • @lazynetter8093

      What I’m playing is a stagi(or Bastari formerly) 40 buttons anglo, I purchased it from Taniguchi Instruments in Tokyo, Japan, for about 900 US$. Anglos have 40b are pretty rare on the market, so the model I have seems the only choice if antique British instruments(over £2000) are out of one’s budget.

    • @lazynetter8093
      @lazynetter8093  Год назад

      I think the starting point should be a purchasing of a concertina. It doesn’t have to be expensive, you just grab one and play it, then you can know what to do next. By the way, Rollston Press made several tutor and tune books available on Amazon, which are super helpful.
