    One of your best videos to date. Your comments concerning tees to play from at "legendary" courses are spot on, but sadly, when a lot of golfers are on vacation (holiday) and play these famous courses, they somehow feel compelled to play at least one tee longer than they should.

    • @yourgolftravel
      @yourgolftravel  5 лет назад +1

      Yeh can be the case. I can kind of understand it to be fair but I wouldn't recommend it. I just think we should all enjoy courses like the Ocean Course as much as we can...no shame in teeing it forward a little.

    Lucky enough to play there twice last year (through YGT) and without doubt the best golfing experience of my life.
    We decided to trade up and play Ocean twice rather than another resort course. Second day was easier as you know where you’re heading.
    Played in 25mph winds and still playable from the correct tees (you get lots of choice).
    Superb effort to make birdie on 17, that hole is just stunning.
    Caddies are superb as was the whole experience

Charleston golf is beautifully built courses. A few private courses that Hootie and the Blowfish band live on like Bullsbay Gc and Daniel Island Gc where Bill Murray plays. Patriots point is a must play, just for the views. I live in Pawleys Island, which has all the nicest courses in a 15 mile area. Caledonia golf and fish club is a must play next time you come. Paige Spurranick promotes that course and all the Myrtle Beach courses. Glad you had fun Raymondo. Loved the video with Lee.

    Great vlog Rory, best one yet and a Birdie on 17👍⛳👍
    Hardest Course I have played is Carnoustie with the wind coming in from 4 different directions at once, the closing holes 16, 17 & 18 are brutal but a Great experience for a golfer who plays mainly Parkland golf.

    • @yourgolftravel
      @yourgolftravel  5 лет назад

      4 different directions at once? Was your ball just hovering bruh haha? Would love a crack at Carnoustie but have heard it can be a brute. Links definitely something all keen golfers have to try their hands at at some point.

    • @banditbaker1675
      @banditbaker1675 5 лет назад

      @@yourgolftravel Let me explain, On the 1st Tee I asked my playing partner ( a local member) what the prevailing wind direction was, as it was pretty gusty. He looked at me pityingly and scoffed, "Four different directions all at the same time laddie"! (Actually, he didn't say Laddie, I just added that for effect)!
      Halfway around the course oddly I understood what he meant, the Holes tend to twist and turn around the Course so that you get quite disorientated and it does seem as though the wind direction keeps changing!

    Played there 20 years ago with a couple of scratch players. We played off the backs as we thought that was the Ryder cup tees. I shot 96 with a 6 handicap and won by 4 shots. Ridiculously hard but a great course.

    Looks like the caddy earned his tip, nice work if you can get it! Played Salgados (Algarve) as a 21 handicapper 20 years ago and I've never lost as many balls as I did on that course, water EVERYWHERE. I still have nightmares about it now. Going back as an 11 handicapper now I'd expect to do better but just thinking about that course gives me the creeps lol

    • @yourgolftravel

    Great topic Rory! I think tee box choice is really overlooked and not discussed as much as it should be. In the past (10+ years ago), I would just get to a course and not even think about it until getting to the first tee and then 98% of the time choose by color. Never really checking to see what the total yardage was. These days, I'll look at the courses web site to get the yardages before I even arrive. I typically like to play no more than 6500 yards to really enjoy it. Any more than that, makes it more challenging and I need to feel my A game is readily available, which is also fun when that's the case. Again, awesome video and thanks for shedding more light on a topic seldom talked about!

    • @yourgolftravel
      @yourgolftravel  5 лет назад +1

      Too much pride / ego in the mix unfortunately. Again...I realise the irony of that statement considering we play from the backs on MC's vlogs. But that's a different story.

    • @yourgolftravel

  • @grahamtomlin3272
    @grahamtomlin3272 5 лет назад +1

    Certainly looks like one of the toughest, I did play at Kiawah once but the Ocean course was shut so played one of the others (but can't remember which one now!) and that was difficult enough. However the most difficult course I've played in recent years is Lofoten Links in Norway, you need to get out there and play it through midnight but take a big ball bag with you!

    • @yourgolftravel
      @yourgolftravel  5 лет назад

      WOW would love a crack at Lofoten and never met anyone who's played it...how was it? As stunning as the photos make it look?

    • @grahamtomlin3272
      @grahamtomlin3272 5 лет назад

      It is without doubt the most spectacular golf course I've ever played, it is still relatively new so some aspects are a bit rough but the combination of narrow fairways (if your ball is a foot off the defined fairway its gone) good condition greens and breathtaking scenery are not to be missed. We also played a course in Tomso which is even further north in the Arctic circle and is said to be the most northerly 18 hole course in the world BUT it is plagued by flies and mosquitoes the size of B52 bombers which rather spoilt the experience!

    Well I got the right number Rory +11 but very well done especially on 17th don't need to talk about it..lol
    Hardest I have played was Carnoustie,,
    Hardest golf experience was the day before on Lethal grange old course, I got well and truly battered by the course, I have never since come off a course where my brain has been totally fried....it was one of those days, before my clubs are hung up I want to go back and play it again and put the course to bed.

    Seriously good vlog and very decent knock. Regardless of weather, a strange course with tough green complexes would regularly play 2-4 over handicap. Hole a couple more putts and you’d have played level or close to it. I’ve shot everything between 70-90 round my home course so I think the “hardest” track can often come down to you on the day, it did look special though. 👍🏌️⛳️🇺🇸🍺
