Saw her absolutely melt down in Tampa. Way too hot in the venue, aircon was busted. Insisted on turning off the stage lights, went out through a back exit to smoke, turned her back while she sang. No set list-stopped to gather the band and choose the next song. Most bizarre show I've seen.
Could be the difference between sober and drunk Cat Power. She went booze-free during the making of this record. Before, she was a small-club legend for being a wildly unpredictable drunk onstage...basically a killing a fifth of scotch before even going onstage kind've performer. There are plenty of stories of her literally passing out onstage and having to be carried off just a few songs into a concert. Thankfully she cleaned up circa 2006 and has been a consistently more professional performer ever since.
Pretty hard not to fall on love with the voice, the presence, the bare feet.

I've heard she has horrible stage fright so that might play a part in her drinking and stage antics.
