This footage is just soooooooooooo beautiful. Thank you for your fine camera work, and letting us enjoy without commentary. This a magical world of powerful nature. How lucky I was to have lived and worked there. This makes me "homesick."
John Muir would have loved this moment in time. He more than anyone fought against many human forces to preserve this magical valley for millions and millions of people to enjoy and appreciate far into the future and long past his time on this earth. He lived in a time, the late 1800's, when preservation of nature was considered strange, eccentric, and needless. A century after his death undamaged and unexploited nature is now rare in this world.
Imagine being the first person or persons to come upon this place how awe inspiring. Yosemite is a one of a kind place and should be on everyone’s bucket lists.
For about 20 years my younger brother and I hiked in Yosemite. It was a 210 mile drive for us, the line to get permits was long, so we never bothered and just went. Late spring snows had delayed the opening of Tioga Pass. Our last hike, 40 years ago, we hiked up Tenaya Canyon about 13 miles and on to Tenaya Lake, spending the night there....for two days, after leaving the valley, we saw no sign of anyone else. On the third day and as we began to near Half Dome, we began to see a few stragglers. We climbed Half Dome, then hiked down to the valley floor, got our vehicle and drove home. Although I have driven through Yosemite on many occasions since (have a senior pass) and will do again shortly, I always recall that memorable hike where we saw NO people for the better part of two days. On another hike, one of my brothers didn't get off work until 11pm, so we never left until he joined us. We drove most of the night, arriving before daybreak and hiked up the Mist Trail to the Little Yosemite Valley in the dark, and decided to take a nap before continuing. Something awoke me to see a bear, which had taken a Cool Whip bowl out of my pack and which had been right by my head, while I don't recall what I had had in it, the bear had licked it clean while about six feet from me. Lucky for me, whatever was in the bowl was tastier than me. Now I read David Paulides books about all of these missing people...the biggest cluster being in Yosemite and I sort of cringe. WHAT really happens to ALL of these people? Do they spend their lives harvesting strange crops under the light of an even stranger looking greenish sun? Shortly, my wife and I will drive through Yosemite on our way to Rosswell, NM, to pay a visit to the UFO museum there. I've been there previously, but my wife never has. In my life, I have had four and up close UFO experiences, but that's another story. BHE
I went to Yosemite a few years ago and the water falls did not look like this! I know it’s a harbinger of oncoming floods but DAMN that is mother nature at her most magnificent! Well done Gaia… well done!
It looks so breathtaking and majestic! I haven’t had the opportunity to visited Yosemite National Park yet… I definitely want to go there someday…🏞️😍❤ Thank you so much for creating and sharing this amazing video!
I love you Yosemite Living in Merced "the gateway to Yosemite" As a child in the 5th grade our school "Margaret Sheehy" Would send each class to Camp Green Meadows every year for a week We would go with other 5th grade class. All of the 5th grade classes in the district had a chance to go. It was a great incentive for being a good kid, no one wanted to miss that trip. With helicopter parenting being a thing nowadays I doubt that this program still exist. Man these kids don't realize what they're missing.
God bless word God calming song kingdom people have to realize people pray for the Lord Jesus coming soon wake up people stand up and pray I love the Yosemite park thanks❤
I was at Yosemite April 17-21, 2023 and it was beautiful. There were parts of the park closed because of snow and storm damage. At that time it was still 41 degrees in the valley with lots of visible snow but even then I knew the snow pack was going to melt quickly soon. The waterfalls are an awesome site to see.. I love Yosemite and can’t wait to get back.
Robert, It's been fourty years ago when many family members and myself hiked up to the top of Yosemite Falls. We arrived at the park about 2, and soon started the hike, reached the top about 150' to the left of the falls quite late in the afternoon and spent the night camped there. The next morning, I made my way over towards the fall. One cannot see it from the valley floor, but the water flows though a 'canyon' which is about 100' wide and 50' or so deep. About 200' back from the fall is a bridge which crosses over the flowing water. I crossed the bridge, worked my way down into the 'canyon' of the swiftly flowing water, and right out to where it shoots out into space. I virtually had the tip of the toes of my shoes on the lip with the water to my right loudly shooting out into space right beside me, 20 or so feet, before taking its inevitable plunge. After a moment, I grew a little dizzy and backed up a bit, but to this day, this remains the most iconinic moment of my life and think about it often. Seems like many places I go (DR's offices and such) there will be a photo of Yosemite Falls hanging on the wall and I can never look at it without thinking back to that moment. BHE
Thank you sharing your adventures with us. I haven’t been to Yosemite in years, and the last time the creeks were just a trickle. So wonderful to see rivers and creeks so full.
I’ve been there twice including a summit on Half Dome. Both times in May. Spring is the best time to catch all the falls in the valley. This year should been especially good good with all the snow melt.
Great video !! Thanks for taking the time to do this. Yosemite Falls are awesome. I have never seen them so full. Oh my gosh. We have hiked all the hikes, including Half Dome twice, and use to snow camp there with the family between Christmas and New Years. It was always beautiful, as always. I have been looking for Lee Stetson, who would perform at the Yosemite theater as John Muir. He was John Muir. Do you have any information of his status or where he might be performing? Again, thanks for this great video. Tom Larsen
Wow. What amazing footage. Image quality is excellent. I always went later in summer, July, Aug, when waterfalls were a trickle compared to this. The spray itself was impressive. I felt myself getting excited as we got closer. Nicely edited. Who would not be stoked to be able to post a video like this? Thank-you for sharing. So good. Great timing.
So grateful for this moment in time. I was about 45 minutes from the park at a different park that day and decided not to go because closures due to prospective flooding.

I live in Nor Cal and have been going to Yosemite my whole life. I've hiked all over the place, been up half dome 4 times, up the 4 mile trail numerous times, hiked from Happy Isles to May lake and back in one day, been there in many autumns, winters and fall but I've actually never been there in the spring time. It's amazing to see such flows when I've seen upper Yosemite falls and bridal veil falls a wispy ribbon that doesn't make it to the ground so many times. Fall became my least desirable time to go as seems every September there's a very smoky fire making it a bad visit. Thanks for posting!
With all the snow they got I knew they would have flooding. And it’s not over yet. Just wait till end of May and early June it’s going to get worse. I bet they will have rock slides with all the water going in the cracks of the cliffs

At least once, recommended for all.
It is amazing to see Yosemite fall with full of water. I saw it but always the water is rather small.
I love that first view from the road to the Tioga Road. I always stop there.
I used to drive past it, not knowing how the view was looking straight down to the Merced river. Now I stop.

Sure no problem
The entire video was made with iPhone 14 Pro. Mounted on a gimbal most of the time, with HDR on, in 4K 60 FPS and Stereo audio recording on.
Also, I edit in Final Cut Pro and export as 4K 10 bit HLG wide gamut to get RUclips to recognize the HDR capability.

Profoundly beautiful!! Dont need the music to emphasize that - just the natural sounds would be great! Thx!

IPhone 14 Pro for all footage. Some zoomed in shot appear a bit grainy but does a fine job. The phone is mounted to a gimble most of the time.
Did you try to hike to Vernal Falls? Was it closed off?
They were closing the park and parking lots were full of kicked out campers from the campgrounds.

good point.
Someone needs to get into Hetch Hetchy and see what's going on there.
Maybe I can get there
Would like to know the name of the font in your title Yosemite 2023. Very unique. Thank you Sir.
it is KORATAKI inside Final Cut Pro
So as of now, the park I’m guessing will remain closed for some time?
Today they are allowing day trips only for the time being, no over night stays so far, I will post an update on that later.
My reservation in April for Housekeeping Camp got canceled. 😭
bummer.
I wonder if anyone has been able to set out on the Pacific Crest Train this year. Lots of snow and the Merced River must be virtually impassable.
there is still 15 feet of snow on the passes and 15 miles more to clear of the highways.
