  • A Jaguar driver left his car on the tight D'Aguilar Street/Wellington Street corner last night, blocking buses from turning into Wellington Street and causing a 1km tailback down D'Aguilar Street and Queen's Road Central. Police arrived after about 30 minutes and only after some encouragement from passersby, gave the car a ticket. The driver was not charged and the car not towed, despite the signs "Vehicles Illegally Parking Here Will Be Towed Away". The parking ticket is HK$320, which, as one scooter rider observed "The driver will probably claim from his company as expenses". The case contrasts with the recent arrest of a bus driver who honked at police on Nathan Road and was arrested for dangerous driving and possession of an offensive weapon (a small spanner for adjusting the wing mirrors). That driver has now been charged with careless driving.
