This video helped me in differentiating the two skates. After 25 yrs I’m ready to skate again. Always wanted Roces as a kid but my parents couldn’t afford them. Now I’ll get to experience what these classics are like.
Great review.. I appreciate it. I've watched several reviews for various skates over the past week and yours is the only one I've seen that has discussed weight. As a 40 year old trying to get back into skating after 20 years, that's actually a pretty important factor for me. Glad you included it!
I just picked up a pair of Fifth Element in Size EU41/42. They fit perfectly for me and I love the skate. I always wished I could skate M12 but because the shape of my foot, I could never fit that 41/42 shell. I tried the 43/44 but that one didn't feel as controlled as I wished. So the Fifth Element is the logical choice for me.
I am almost 35yo and I always wanted pair of Roces since my mate had them when we were in primary school 25y ago, and one day i will buy them! Ps not really for doing tricks (too old for that) 😀but too just have them. Greetings from Poland mate.👊
Same story for me, bro. Started skating 80mm this summer after 20 years pause. But really want to buy Roces next summer because of school memories (I had some no name Chinese replicas those days).
I'm 43 and made my first front side grind almost a month ago, it is never too late bro! get yourself a pair of m12s use protective gear and start trying, we are in a golden age! there are so many skate parks around, so many lessons on youtube, so many skates in the market, professional riders to get inspired, take things in a slow pace and you will be alright. and you know what, you will feel yourself much better
Being an original Low Rider owner, I just ordered new M12 boots, after all, it is the same shape mold so it should fit fine. And if it's a bit tight in the beginning, the liner will adjust as I use it. And people always told me I have quite wide feet. Never had any issue with them "narrow" Roces.
thanks for you video I will buy roces or ci5 and do roller blade again like in 90's when I do ramp and jump for 7 hours by day on Trocadero club in Paris ! loving roller blades culture ! thanks
Your videos got Me coming back I'm happy with the widespread. Blades 13. Buying them now couldn't find the old k2 fatty. I road them m12s for years they killed my feet. Now happy the make a wide. Thanks 👍 😊 for the input.
Have a pair of 5th elements and absolutely love them. Super comfy and very solid. Bought them a size smaller than all my other skates but the fit like a glove. Flex vs support is great and never had issues with them skating bowls.
For me the M12 always fit very tight in the width, but now I have the RL1 liner and it looks like a Tardis I have all the space I need. and can move better and it is sturdier. I don't know how, but it drives great. I ordered a Tnec frame so far still riding on anti rocker on the Roces frames, certainly a lot of fun
i remember that one. i chose an impala back then though. great for the pipe and ramps, but hardcore on the street. it´s still running, although i think i will get new skates and restart again this year, with 45...
1) What were those weird frames on the thumbnail? 2) What would the sizing be if I wanted the M12 boot but the 5th element soul? Help me Ricardo Lino, you're my only hope.
I'm sorry nobody answered your comment for 2 years but, in the thumbnail pic, the white 5th Element had an Adapt Symetrics frame and the M12 had a Masterblade frame. The soulplate sizing correlates the same way he explained it. A 43/44 M12 boot will fit a 41/42 5th Element soulplate. And you can translate that theory across all the grouped sizes.
As for sizing. The 10/10.5us 5th element is 6mm larger than a size 11/12us m12 according to the roces sizing chart. I think this is because they expanded the shell out to the old valo soul plate as they were no longer doing skinned skates. Thus they use the medium sized soul plate. This way you get a slimmer valo soul with a boot that is accommodating to that foot. I think they size the 5th the way they do because they are using a smaller soul plate. I think the sizing chart needs an update. I bought the 5th elements because I saw the 10.5 was actually bigger than the 12 m12 I was skating. Even though the 5th element is technically 6mm larger, I think they mean wider. And in terms of length it actually feels shorter... and thus the m12 feels better... I notice if you don’t lace the m12 at the bottom and only at the top to prevent heal slip It feels better than a laced m12 for wide feet. And with that being said... the only way I can ride the 5th element comfortably is with the roces rl1 liner or the intuition v2 liner (them intuitions are thicker and won’t work). The 5th element is an awesome skate- sizing is just funny. I also met Eric the shred at Woodward last November and he drilled a bunch of holes into his nils grey m12 to give it more flex. So there is an idea. Anyways, I just wanted to share my Experience with sizing on these skates in case it helps anyone.
During the first few minutes you call the M12 "the 5th Element" multiple times so I'm glad I happened to have been paying attention to the video instead of just listening along. Thanks for doing this comparison!
Wait I didn't know a 5th element stock liner would fit in an m12!! If I am a 9 stock m12 liner I guess a 8 5th element liner would be the way to go inside a m12 8/9 shell?
lino! i love all of your videos, you are the man. i think you accidentally call the m12 the 5th element more than once during this comparison? oops! great video
Pretty sure these were the skates all the kids had at the skateparks growing up. I mainly just skate around w the kids and play basic street hockey but I’m still very athletic for 30yo, so I’m thinking ima scoop a pair of these. Gotta be better than the skates I’m using n can hit up skateparks whenever I’m near there.

@Ricardolino I just purchased some Valo ab1 gold, I couldn't help myself the were 99.00 US very cheap. I wanted to change the soulplates before skating them to preserve the valo classic soul plates, will the 5th element souls fit since they look similar.
Ricardo, I have a question. I’m curious how to down size in skates. Do I get a liner true to my size, then down size In the boot? Or do I downsize in both liner and boot?

5TH Element = best :D ps: People with such a defect have dysfunction of these photoreceptors - elements of the retina that are sensitive to color. They exist in three basic groups - red, green, and blue. Color vision disturbances can be selectively related to the lack of vision or a reduced perception of each color. ;)

If you have some more info on that will be nice to hear it. Thanks.

@@jrodrigo1984 I think the Valo was a M12 with a skin on top and the 5the souls. The gap between the soul and the boot was filled by the skin fabric
