I know this was a year ago, however there's something that needs to be considered here. Mr Ballen said that she was screaming, so we assume constantly. There's a good chance that she passed out, at times, from her injuries. I can see how that if someone wasn't screaming continously, they might not be noticed. It's still an awful event and the other staff should have noticed something was wrong, in my opinion anyway.

And this wasn't a horror attraction either....this was a frkn peaceful jolly singing bs , how would horrified screaming in nothing but terror be a part of the show? What type of idiots were in there? And the staff?????? They should have known a person screaming for their life wasn't part of puppets singing songs about america, just wtf was wrong with all these people. Sure outside in a theme park screaming is normal, but inside where singing should be the only thing heard? And I might add that a person screaming on a roler coster and a person screaming from being crushed alive probably sound different no matter what.....I'm so so angry at this situation...
ALSO why did she even work there if they started the attraction without her anyway? If they had only checked why she wasn't on stage to greet the audience that time around....unless she switched shifts at this moment with someone else.
People should always take someone screaming for help seriously, frkn Disneyland included.

Problem is people who suffer from paranoia their whole life have to ignore some or many of their instinctive red alerts and people who know them also begin to tell them down. Gradually there's an urge to supress it.
While the last story should have raised enough red flags, there are chances that other similar incidents could be ignored.

No idea where he got his info from, but I did some research years ago and nowhere was it mentionned that she was still alive and screaming after the first time she started to get dragged around. People did indeed hear screaming but never said it was repeated throughout the show. And even if she somehow survived the first rotation, she wouldn't have had the strength to scream. Her internal injuries + the extreme pain and shock would have made it impossible. Logically, had she survived the first rotation and was well enough to still scream and be heard, it would have meant her injuries were artificial and she would have be able to survive until and after the end of the show. Also, the video doesn't emphasize how *incredibly* narrow the space was. There simply was no way she could have survived longer than a few seconds.

There was news years ago, a woman with her husband and chidlren, was going on an attraction that spins around jn the darkness with something like those mechanical dolls.
The woman was scared, but she boarded the ride anyways THEN she decided to get off in second thought right before the ride started.
She fell in some tiny gap between all those spinning machinary, and died in a similar fashion as the story. Except the whole family was right there beside her, unable to do anything, as she SLOWLY got crushed to death.
I remember watching the news on tv and my parents were saying how we should never, EVER attempt to get out of a ride no matter how scared you are, once you get on.

There was no reason in that attraction for what would most likely have been blood-curdling screaming. Even if the audience thought it was part of the ride, WTF was wrong with the staff? Working that attraction all the time, they would have known it was not part of the show and they only thought to look AFTER? And while I hate to blame the victim, why wouldn't she be screaming something to the effect of, "STOP THE MOTHER FUCKING RIDE! I'M STUCK, ASSHOLES!!!" In the happiest place on Earth, especially in the 70s, they would have known that was not normal.

RE: Debbie Stone/America Sings- I tried to understand what was being said, but it didn't make sense with the mention of a "storage area" being involved.
The America Sings attraction had the same setup as the Carousel of Progress, which is that the stage areas (and any central location behind them) are stationary and the theater portions (where the audience sits) rotate around them. There is a theater portion for nearly every stage and they all revolve together to the next stage after each performance finishes. There is also a freestanding wall on either side of the theater portions that rotates with it to enclose your performance from the nextdoor performances.
What happened to Debbie is she got too close to the back wall of the building itself and one of the walls that rotates with the theater portion she was in and was crushed/dragged with said wall. This was after a group had just finished a performance and left her theater and before receiving a new group. And she wasn't just ignored. A man cited in the investigation, who was in the theater on the opposite side of the wall, saw her (he said he thought it was a child that had been pulled between the walls) and had heard her scream. He notified the ride operator when the theater stopped moving.
I'd heard this story a number of times ages ago and it was never that she was dragged for the entire 24 minute duration of the full show. Being crushed and dragged mechanically against a building by a wall for even one rotation (which is pretty slow) to the next stage definitely would have been enough to cause serious internal injuries.
Also, it was a goofy, upbeat show, so it would really make 0 sense for a bunch of people to think someone screaming was "part of the show" anyway. Not like it's the Haunted Mansion.
They installed a safety measure immediately after this happened that alerted the ride operator whenever someone walked within a certain perimeter of any area where this could occur and then later made the walls on the theaters breakaway.

And Disney paying the family a small lump sum of money just not seem like enough and also does not help heal the tragic death of parents having to bury their child before said child had a chance to live a full and accomplished life, where that child had a chance to raise their own family😢

Mr. Ballen, the stages did not move. They were stationary. The audience did. The seats were in a ring shape around the stage. When each act was done the audience, in the ring shaped seat section would rotate around the section stages. This theater was built in this configuration from the beginning. It was originally built for a show about evolving technology mainly in America. Then the 6 section stage was changed for America Sings. Thank you for your awesome story telling.

When you mentioned how they refused the life jackets, I totally remembered how my family would go white water rafting in Sacramento. It was lots of fun and a bit dangerous when we would hit the rapids. It was always dangerous. Life jackets were mandatory. Especially for me cuz I was only like 2 or 3 years old. Normally, we would hit the rapids and get tossed about but nothing to major. This time, we flipped and got dumped out, and the water was thrashing about, and we all got separated. I was floating away into some rocks when my mom grabbed me. She later said I held on to her so hard I almost choaked her. The life jackets made all the difference that day. A simple raft ride could have had a much worse ending. That did scare my parents something good. Just how quickly things can change. Especially when you don't know how to swim. Life jackets should never be a question. It is so sad for the people in the story to have such a horrendous way beyond scary encounter.

That story is so bizarre it leads me to think foul play was involved, given most of the story describes actions a dead man made that no one ever saw. What we know for sure from this is this man didn't come home when he was supposed to and was later found pinned under his truck and drowned. Given they apparently don't know if he died by crushing or drowning, or if he was crushed at all, it sounds like they didn't bother with an autopsy since he had an obvious cause of death. It's always possible someone else killed him - maybe by drowning - and then tossed his body under his truck in an area where high tide would go. It'd keep his body hidden for a while, and then when the tide came it it'd theoretically wash him away and obscure when, where, and how he died. (Were his body not found he'd just be considered missing) A theoretical murderer would be likely to make the same mistake he hypothetically did, and not realize the truck would pin his body there.

That Dam accident is probably top 5 scariest thing I've heard.
Imagine going underwater, holdin your breath and being sucked into an operational turbine.
The current pulls you in that tunnel, you hear the turbine swirling and turning, the sound coming louder and louder.. Absolute nightmare stuff.
If there are any kids here: Never go swimming near a hydroelectric dam, even if it's not under construction.
The turbines are operational *underwater* and they suck you under from upstream.
The water looks calm, but once you go in, you get sucked underwater, against the dams intake mesh that protects the turbines from debris, such as logs.

I've been in a river raft that flipped. It was scary. We knew we were going to flip, so we held onto the rope attached to the raft. Luckily as soon as the raft flipped, it popped out of tail water and started flowing downstream, all 5 of us held on and we had life jackets. But soon after we were over one rapid and under the next. It was very disorienting and hard to tell when my head was above water to breathe. Luckily, they weren't too big of rapids, so we all made it out. Everyone was ok. It took a wile for them to catch the raft downstream... We'd been going over this drop off made by an old small irrigation wall that crossed the river. During the late summer, it's nothing, but in the spring when the water is high it makes a small 9-10 foot water fall. We'd gone over it a few times before, but the last time, my dad had left and I was in the front of the raft, 2 guys in the middle and 2 in the back. We went over just like before, but since all the weight was in the back, the back got stuck in the dip, and then we got sucked back into the toe of the waterfall. It rotated the raft until we flipped. I'm glad we had life jackets.
When I was near the shore to get out of the river I was so tired, so about 5 ft away from the river bank, a long way from the swiftest flowing part of the river, there was a nice big rock, I let myself float into. Luckily, I could touch because the river pinned me against the rock. It took so much strength to pull myself off that rock get the rest of the way to shore.
Anyway, water is so powerful, hopefully the folks in the story drowned before hitting the turbines. It doesn't take long to be out of air when you're not expecting to hit the water.

Rivers often have sticks, logs, animal carcasses etc, and I imagine if any of these went over the dam they would damage the turbines. I was envisioning them being pinned in the tunnel against a grate before the turbines - no less horrifying.

A life jacket wouldn't have saved her, but highlights the danger of seemingly "safe" bodies of water.

The first story was on “1000 Ways to Die” and it has stuck with me ever since I saw this particular episode at a young age. They played out a scenario where John wakes up from getting wet from the water as the tide is coming in, but he is already pinned under the truck. They showed this actor trying to dig his way out but he was laying on his back and didn’t have good leverage from this position to be able to clamber his way out. Not only that, but it showed that his body was also sinking slowly in the sand during his nap so he is effectively stuck in this position, so john is crying out for help while the tide comes in and rushes over his head and back out again. It left a haunting and lasting impression on me. It sounds like one of the very worst ways to go.

I know something about the Disney story. Back in the mid 80's my Spanish teacher told us about that incident because at the time that it happened he had fairly high position job there. He told us that she had this really long beautiful thick blond hair and that she was sitting on something like maybe a pony wall or something, I don't remember exactly what it was but she was next to wall of the room. After the people left, I guess the building then rotates to the beginning stage and when it did that, he said that her hair had got caught and she couldn't pull free and that it crushed her between the walls. When he told the story i was under the impression that she was crushed in between a gap of an inch or two but maybe I assumed that tho.
He also told us that one of his co workers who was an old military veteran who had seen a lot of carnage in the wars had a difficult time trying to remove her body because it was almost to much for him to experience.
My Spanish teacher also old us that there have been many strange deaths that have taken place at Disney land. One of them that I remember is that some dude fell off the people mover and was run over by it and he said that the people mover runs on rail or something, like a train? and that it was difficult to remove his body cause it was pinched in the track and wheels or something like that. I can't remember the other stories but he had a few of them.
In case you are wondering, he hated Disney land.

I have a half sister who worked at the park when the girl was killed in America Sings. She didn't see the scene following the accident but had friends who did and said it was pretty horrifying. She said pretty much every employee was pretty freaked out for a while after that. There have been quite a few deaths in the park over the years, another messy one was the high school senior on grad night who got drunk and decided to sneak in via the monorail track. He got hit by a train doing about 30MPH and was ground into the track surface for a good 40 feet before the train stopped.
There have been a few drownings as well in the river, drunk on grad night if I remember correctly who got jumbled up on some part of underwater gear used on the track for the Mark Twain trying to swim from Tom Sawyers Island. Someone drowned when one of the early keel boats capsized during an actual ride, they removed them as a ride after that. A kids older brother drowned trying to swim back from Tom Sawyers Island after dark with the younger kid on his back because he didn't know how to swim. Pretty sure the younger kid was ok. I spent a lot of time looking at Disney deaths over the years, its interesting to see some of the behavior behind the Disney policies that don't outright hide this stuff but don't outright volunteer any information about it either.
In every account of the People Mover death I have read it was a kid trying to jump from one car to another. It crushed him in between the cars and most of his body ground up underneath the rear car, pretty sure that was a grad night as well. I have a friend and former colleague who was only feet away from the spot where a girl hit the concrete after falling off the Drop Zone at Great America in Santa Clara. Several years later he witnessed the derailment of Big Thunder Mountain when it pulverized a guys head pretty much decapitating him.
Sometimes it can be a really small world, he has seen worse on the job as a State Trooper but you never expect to see that same level of carnage while enjoying the day at a Theme Park.

John wasn't feeling sleepy he was nodding off toward death and crawling under the truck for a nap was similar to behavior you see out of dying animals when they'll crawl off under a porch or under something and "take a nap".. because you have to assume that with how easy it is to dig in sand.. if John had been pressed under his truck he should have been able to dig his way out.. so it's safe to assume he'd died already before his truck sank and before tide came in.
