    My main rig sits in an Enermax Grace Mesh case that I bought like 4 years ago for 35 dollars and for what I paid for it I have yet to find a nice enough case for a good enough price to justify changing to a new one. 2 140mm fans in the front, 2 120mm fans on the top and 1 120mm fan in the back, tempered glass side panel, psu shroud, 2 usb 3.0, 2 usb 2.0, headphone and mic front panel ports. Still to this day one of the best value purchases I've ever made for the computers in my house. Only things I wish were different are 1. It has 3.5 inch drive bay cutouts on the front mesh panel and 2. It's extremely heavy with all my components in it. Thing is built like a tank. Sometimes those lesser known companies provide surprisingly good products.

    The best cheap case I found for my PC was the: Aerocool Hive FRGB v3 for less then 50$ ( I paid about 40$ on sale), it came with 2X160mm Fans in the front (I know is an odd fan dimension) and 1x120mm in the back, has good airflow and you can fit 4 additional 120mm fans (2 of them can be fitted to provide air to the graphics card), can be fitted with a 360 rad in the front or a 240mm on the top, it has tempered glass on the side.

    Really debating getting this case, I wish they made a small form factor version of this case that still allows the use for a full sized ATX mother board. I know they can definitely make this thing a tad smaller, even the Meshroom S can use a full sized ATX motherboard, but its design is a bit flawed considering you may have to use a 380mm riser cable which isn't cheap, but it allows for an ATX psu so that's the tradeoff. Overall I'm excited about future darkFlash products.

    i think the mesh side panels could hinder the airflow performance because i think if you're having a non mesh side panels, it forced the air get in the case and have more pressure, whilst the mesh one can make your airflow leaks to the outside of the pc and presumably has less air pressure to cool down the main part

    Before watching this I’m gonna make a guess that your thermals will be just fine. I’ve got a 5700x and a 3080ti together in a q58 with all mesh and thermals are great even in that tiny case. All mesh is the way to go!

  • @baitboy3191
    @baitboy3191 2 года назад

    The mesh panels don't allow for air to properly flow throughout the case in laminar manner. With all that mesh all the air being pushed by the fans is just going everywhere, yes your components can breath and the fans on the gpu will be more helpful cause they can pull in fresh air from the mesh side panel.
    I have the good old Silverstone raven case where the motherboard was mounted at a 90 degree angle, with three 180mm fans blowing vertically. This basically formed a massive column of air that pushed hot air out vertically. That case air cooled my pc amazingly getting temps near what I would get if I had a closed loop in a standard pc case.

    • @HazewinDog
      @HazewinDog 2 года назад

      I think the case may be too large for that to work. Since the bottom of the case is closed off and the rear only has one fan mount, I don't think it's possible to get the maximum performance out of this case.

    In reality, more flow would be how much air you can push through "the whole system" in set time. To get air through "the whole system" you only want one side for Intake, one side for exhaust, all the other panels sealed (airtight). Side mesh most of the time would reduce flow - think like putting holes in the (side) of a water hose, jet engine, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, etc...

  • @bdhale34

    Clean looking build, the rear slot covers are definitely the budget case style but overall not a bad looking case. Personally I would have used the slot lower than you did for that capture card as it's fully blocking one of that RTX card's fans. Be interested in seeing if that makes any difference to the thermals though, i suspect it would but it very well might not.
    Edit: My thought process regarding that capture card is two fold. as 1> the thing is clearly being restrictive to a fan and 2> they tend to produce some heat when in use as well so that fan on the GPU will be sucking up warmer air as well.

    • @GregSalazar
      @GregSalazar  2 года назад

  • @CrimFerret
    @CrimFerret 2 года назад

    My concern about this would be there's no way to actually create an airflow path through the case which might actually cause higher temps for some parts. I guess some testing will show if it works or not. The price is way too high for not including any fans. At full price, one could get a Phanteks P500A DRGB. A premium case with three good fans already installed. At $100 it might just be high enough quality to warrant that price.

    i have a conceptually similar setup using Lian Li's Q58 case that i bought the "add ons" for, a pair of mesh side panels and ARGB strips. it looks great. would be even better if i didn't suck at cable management

    Greg, why not throw a bigger aircooling tower into the case? The Scythe Fuma 2, Deepcool AK620 might work, or Thermalright PA120 should work better.

      thermal capacity of water will always defeat air cooled blocks

    A full mesh design makes for a "good" airflow case by default, but it can never be a great one. Ideally you want air to be forced into a consistent laminar direction over components instead of allowing it to just escape chaotically wherever. Your biggest loss is that a fair amount of the cool ambient air your fans worked so hard to blow in is just going to come straight out the side in the top-right hand corner before it even sees any heat. All this is why most premium cases, even ones focused on performance than showcasing, tend to still have completely solid side panels, while still producing equal or better results to this all mesh layout.
    That said, I think a vertical mounted GPU would be *really* good on this one, since you can effectively turn the fans on the video card into true exhaust fans to the outside. If I were a case designer, I'd be considering a design where the top half of the side panel was solid, but the bottom half was mesh, and a vertical GPU mount (which is straight up against the front panel) is recommended.

    I think mesh is a great place to actually use RGB to show hints of stuff inside.
