It's completely interchangeable. You can replace the Spam with anything. I even went posh last week and had Wagyu beef and made Wagyumen.

When opening a can of Spam, remove the top, then invert the can and puncture the bottom of the can, the vacuum vents and the Spam slides right out.

Could you do this from the pub? My thinking, After you've burnt the meat waste product you could give it the fingers and get smashed.

I enjoy James' cooking episodes but I'm not convinced with this one. Lucy may have outdone him on this one. Then there's the spam, which IMO in Japanese cooking has only successfully been used in Okinawan goya champuru.
BTW, I'd say spam was "a hit" in Okinawa at the end of WWll due to U.S. troop deployment and the need to feed the people. It would most likely have preceded cheap noodles made from U.S. flour.

Richard is the one who's underrated. You always hear about Clarkson and May, but Richard is usually only talked about when he's had a crash. He's by far my favorite.

If you hit the Spam can on the bottom whilst holding the can upside down, you cause inertia to make the Spam move more upward into the can. In order to make the Spam exit the can using inertia, move the can upward and bring it down quickly with a sudden stop thereby causing the can to stop but the Spam to keep moving in the direction of motion. You're welcome. :P
