God I've always felt so fucking bad for Donna. There've been companions who died on the job, and companions who've had to go back to their normal lives, but poor Donna Noble basically had to go through both at the same time. She didn't originally come with the Doctor because she was attracted to him, she came because she was so intensely curios and excited about the possibilities beyond the stars, all she ever really wanted was a good bit of adventure. And through her travels, she learned so much about herself. She found her compassion, her confidence, and she finally found true value in her own existence which she hadn't been able to believe for so long. Shane's description that he came to like her more and more over time is I think exactly the crux of her character. You start to like her more and more because she becomes more and more of a good person as she travels and learns with the Doctor. And then... Gone. The whole thing, taken away from her, not because she fucked up but because she unknowingly sacrificed herself to save all of creation. All those things she learned, about herself and about life, wiped from her mind forever, reducing her back to the trite, insecure individual, burying herself in mundane gossip and sassiness to avoid thinking about the bigger questions that the Doctor helped her tackle. Fuck. She'll always be my favorite.
The only plus side is that all of that WAS Donna... sure, the Doctor helped bring it out of her, but SHE was the one who put in the effort to become the person she became. One would like to think that with more encouragement from her mother and certainly a firmer involvement with Wilf (with him not backing off when the mother shouts), she still has the ability to become a better person than she was.... With life, there's hope.
"But every night, Doctor, when it gets dark, and the stars come out. I'll look up. On her behalf. I'll look up at the sky and think of you..." Such a good moment
There was a headcanon I read that when Donna's on her deathbed The Doctor visits her and gives her her memories back so she could die knowing how truly important she was.
Donna is my favorite companion. She also has the saddest ending imo, worse than death. The fact that she is just his friend and has no attraction to the Doctor makes her so badass.
I agree, I mean her situation is rectified a little over the next few specials. Yet, not remembering her brilliant experiences makes her fate even worse than that of Amy and Billie - one of whom was trapped in time, the other who finished her days as a glorified puddle spirit!
agree 100%, honestly the saddest scene for me in Dr Who- the moment when the drums kick in as he says "we had the best of times" kills me. Murray Gold is a freaking genius
Preach. I maintain that Donna was the most screwed-over companion in modern Who. How DARE you not be into the Doctor romantically! Now lose all your character growth and go back to the miserable person you were before he met you! It is worse than death, because even she would've chosen to die as the person she became with him. But he took the choice away from her.
24:12 I agree with Shane, I always saw it as the Tardis shutting the door. As Shane said it is alive and it doesn't always take the Doctor to where he wants to go but where he needs to be. I took it as the Tardis knew that Donna had to stay inside to save the universe. Aaron does a good job of guiding the conversation so that Shane didn't get drown out.
JJ_B IIRC, Moffat was forced to invent that character because Ecclestone wouldn't come back, and the Moment even got a mention in End of Time. The ideas were there, even if the stories weren't written yet.
Am I the only one so sad for the Doctor? He gets to see a duplicate of himself kiss the woman he's pined for and been so sad over all through Martha's run? Like he sat there and watched as what he wished he could have was unattainable. Like he just wants to break open and tell her, but he can't. This episode is sad on top of sad on top of sad, but my god is it so well written.
@@priscamnguni6388 Nah, doctor was clearly heartbroken when he saw Rose kiss his clone. He tried to get away as fast as possible. Thats not how he left Martha. If Rose didn't end up in a different universe in the first place, he would try to stay with her as long as possible. He was deeply in love with her, and he was depressed over her ever since the Doomsday episode. Martha and Donna never filled that hole in his heart. But he chose to sacrifice his own happiness so she could be happy with his clone.

I absolutely love Kalvin’s knowing and giddy grin at 7:04 when Davos recognized Sarah Jane, especially because that was the same look on my father’s face when we first saw that scene. One of the biggest connections in the Doctor Who Mythos and the fact that both Sarah Jane AND Davos react like they do is completely fantastic. and I like that said connection is noticed by Blindwave, no matter how subtly I
I think the human Doctor didn’t say “I love you” out loud because it would hurt the other doctor to hear it, and he didn’t say it because he was leaving her. Rose got what she wanted, but the Doctor still lost her.
If Ten had said it out loud, Rose never would have been able to go on with Ten.2. As it is, she gets the same man but they can grow old together. Ten.2 will combine Nine and Ten in some ways, as they mention in the commentary. He was born like Nine but has, from his point of view, experienced everything Nine has. I felt funny about this whole thing at the time, but I guess it does work out the best for Rose.
To be fair, the Daleks didn't have Davros and Caan as prisoners in the basement, they were more like oddities. They respect Davros's role in their creation and Caan's prophecies enough to keep them alive, but they still ultimately view them as inferior discrepancies to the perfect Dalek existence. So it's not completely weird to have the control panel down there with them. I always figured Davros was basically like their retired parent or something. Like, if your dad is in a tough spot in his old age and he needs to move in with you unexpectedly, of course you're going to give him a place to live and be nice to him and all. But at the same time, you're still gonna be kinda awkward about it lol.
You guys ourght to watch the classic "Genesis of the Daleks" serial to get a good feel for Davros. It also said to be the opening salvo of the 3rd time war.
Damn I cried once again at the Donna exit. It's so tragic. Donna is my favorite, she is unique and her personality truly stands out. Plus Catherine Tate's acting is off the roof. I like Rose, sure, but I never felt like she existed other than as "the love interest". She didn't really have a personality.
I find Donna's departure to be the saddest out of all of them. Amy's being a close second She grew to be a better person only for all of that to be taken away from her.
Donna’s exit is heartbreaking and probably one of the most emotional exits to come from Doctor Who. She developed so much from her adventures and grew as a person and became so much more fleshed out thanks to The Doctor. The fact that all that character development is stripped away and she’s reverted back to the person she was before the Doctor is very upsetting and heartbreaking. This finale is easily the best Doctor Who episodes in my opinion. Such a strong two parter that marks as a great round up and send off for all the first four seasons. Many great moments such as Martha expressing surprise that The Doctor found Rose; Rose acknowledging how good Martha was: the interaction with Mickey; Jack; Sarah Jane and Jackie. Icing on the cake is when Davros tells The Doctor the real truth in the fact that he transforms humans into weapons and soldiers etc. The scene between Sarah Jane and Davros was also good! My favourite part is everyone flying the Tardis together. Such a beautifully composed and paced scene which really warms my heart every time and it’s genuinely tragic that we will never see The Doctor’s family reunite together again. That moment will always have a special place in my hand and it’s one of the reasons why I love the RTD era. So much heart; fun: great developed characters and wonderful interactions. Only 5 more episodes left for Blind Wave! Oh boy! I can already feel the emotions rising! :D
I literally, and I mean literally, just finish watching the previous episode I was so late watching that video, cause I went to college just now XD Dang, talk about perfect timing
What is cut from this episode and revealed later by T. Davies and Moffat is that The Doctor gives his other self the seed of a Tardis and there are even book stories where Tennant and Rose travel togeter in the alternate universe!
when the doctors suit is blue the episode took place in the future, and brown if the episode took place in the past - same with matt smith's bow tie (red for the future and blue for the past)
donna is easily my favorite companion. i love the platonic relationship between her and the doctor and how they are truly best friends and the episode turn left just shows how much of a posotive impact she had on his life and vice versa comparing how she was in her first episode compared to her last. the way she went out forgetting the doctor and her experiences is easily the most heart retching scene too cathrine tate really sells how devastated donna is in losing this life love her as a companion one of the best there is!
Again love this! It is a bit frustrating how you view Donna as some loud mouth whose a bit funny whilst completely overlooking her biggest and best personality trait her compassion. I mean that was her whole character, she's like his conscious; telling the Doctor "that's enough," to saving someone in Pompeii, hell willing to share the burden of Pompeii, the understanding of the Ood that even Rose lacked, heart to heart with Agatha Christie, helping the Doctor accept Jenny so on and so forth. Sorry I'm biased because she is my favorite so I really can't help myself, that said I did love hearing your thoughts though. I mean as some one who didn't think much of Rose seeing your enthusiasm for her made me appreciate her more if only for the joy she gave you. Anyways I love how you reacted to Mickey and Wilf, yes they deserve recognition! I mean the way you all smiled when Mickey and Jack hugged filled me with such joy.
I loved Tennant while he was the doctor but Matt Smith quickly became my favorite. Donna was one of my favorite companions and seeing her go is always so sad to me. Cause you know how happy traveling with the Doctor made her. It filled an empty space in her life. Loosing all those memories is the worst thing that could happen.
Along with the specials, make sure to watch the Wedding of Sarah Jane. It takes place alongside the specials. And also Eric, Rose is also my favorite companion. Her and the Doctor just have the best chemistry by far. I still love Martha, Donna, Jack, and Mickey, and the past companions in Old Who, but yeah.
Same. I know the back half of season 7 is a mess, and that season 6 was a bit of a frustration, but I could say the same about seasons 2-4 which are also highly inconsistent but charming in their own way. I just love Matt Smith's approach on Doctor Who! Also, we still have Tennant's finale left, and he is brilliant in it.
I think it's much more childish to leap on any Moffat thread with tireless complaints. Also - how big crossover punch ups with tin boxes known as Daleks is sophisticated while complex, interwoven thematically resonant stories about the consequences of time is childish is a mystery to me.
I actually liked how Moffat’s seasons told an overall story. It made episodes seem more connected. They were more random during Tennant’s tenure. Sure they had bad wolf, but that was more of a brief sentence mentioned every few episodes.
I agree, and i love how thematically focused it became. The Doctor's main enemy tended to be ideas such as time, fate or destiny rather than tin boxes saying 'Exterminate' . Sure it wasn't perfect, but considering how bad the first half of this season was, I don't see why Moffat gets so much criticism.
Coming to the end of Russell T Davies run these final 2 episodes are a great culmination of his characters and story lines (with a bit more to come). I love all the threads coming together, things you didn't think of as being important at the time - like the lost moon of Poosh.
Great intro and good reaction. But I wish you guys had time to include a reaction to the Doctor recalling all those he's lost in his adventures, whose deaths he felt responsible for. An emotional moment in the episode, one of many. Donna's departure is high on my list. It's been years since I first watched this episode and what happened to her still affects me. And it still hurts to watch Wilfred cry. He was right about Donna. She was the best version of herself around the Doctor.
9:30 this song is epic. I always imagine the choirs of Time Lords singing the Doctor on to his absolution, saving Earth as he couldn't save Gallifrey. The Latin lyrics are also powerful: Dum inter homines, sumus colamus humanita (cum tacent clament): "When amongst humans, let us be humane."
Hearing the Daleks scream in German is kind of a throwback to...well....you know. If you ever saw the classic "Genesis of the Daleks" it would be even more apparent.
with all the tragedy, heartbreak, and love that pours from this finale, my favorite lines are still" Rose: "Three Doctors?" Cpt. Jack: "I...I-I can't tell you what I'm thinking right now"
Hey, Comment Section. Wanna get sad about Donna? Type "I'm nothing special" into RUclips, there is a video by Margarita Life and it just encapsulates her character/story so well. (Contains some spoilers, if you are following along with the guys.)
For those of you who see this comment as a week old a few minutes after it's released on RUclips, it's just a small matter of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff
Really love how you guys combined the thumbnails for your Doctor Who, Torchwood and Sarah Jane reactions for these final episodes. Truly the most ambitious crossover event in history.
it's just so sad. he loses everything and has to do it all himself. the way he looks at rose and tentoo just breaks me; everything he could never have right in front of him, and he has to walk away.
Nick Paul Yeah but then there is series 6 and 7. Not Matt Smith's fault he did his best but Moffatt ruined his run. And not being harsh, 11 is the worst new doctor imo
One thing to note about the daleks is that the show doesn't actually have exclusive rights to use them. The dalek copyright is held by Terry Nation, the writer who created them. The show is contractually obliged to keep featuring the daleks, otherwise they'll lose their rights to feature them all together. Although Steven Moffat has stated that they bring the daleks back for creative reasons, not due to any obligation, but even if it _is_ true that they bring them back due to "creative choice", it isn't like they have much of a choice in this matter, regardless.
I still cried so hard just watching the end of Donna she was so wonderful and her journey ends in such a heartbreaking way.. she will stay my favorite forever
So many emotional parts to this episode, but after all the family togetherness with his old companions and friends he still ends up being the lonely traveller in the tardis.
I totally forgot you still have more Torchwood to watch when you started talking about Martha and Mickey maybe showing up... Hoo boy. Children of Earth is a doozy.
I would highly recommend you guys watch the classic Doctor Who story Genesis of the Daleks. As the name implies it tells the origins of the Daleks and it's really quite interesting and well written. Davros is introduced for the first time. And I can't get into it too much because I don't wanna ruin it for you but it's a REALLY awesome story and it fits in well with the current Doctor Who.
Bernard Cribbins (Wilf, Donna's granddad) really is fantastic. In Britian he has been like a national treasure for over 50 years now, as actor, novelty pop star and children's tv presenter. Amongst a lot else he was one of the stars of the 1965 movie Dalek - Invasion Earth: 2150, which has Peter Cushing as the Doctor. It is ABSOLUTELY NOT CANON, but pretty fun anyway. And that paint on the eyestalk business really is the sort of thing that used to work on Daleks in the 60s, so it wasn't a completely stupid idea.
Side note about Donna: Although they never managed to get it into broadcast, the creators had intended to have a scene/dialogue where we find out that she's now working for a charity. So, although she doesn't realise it, she has still been changed by her travels with the Doctor and is still fighting the good fight. :-)
Due to the tardis being a sentient being it will do anything it can to make sure a fixed point is not altered or tampered with and Donna becoming the Doctor Donna is a fixed point as rose said all timelines converge on her so it was making sure it happened
The most beautiful dream you can never remember. But unlike a dream, not even a feeling will be left when she wakes up. Man this episode really kills me, oh Donna
I like your reactions fellas. A friend of mine, who never has seen a full episode of the show, panned it as a, "Willy Wonka show." in my mind, that is a wonderful comparison. The Wonkavator and the TARDIS? I can dig it!
Donna: "I saw the Doctor!"
Dr. Moon:" Yes you did Donna, and then you forgot"

Amy's being a close second
She grew to be a better person only for all of that to be taken away from her.
He Will Knock 4 Times
I don't want to go...
I cried when spiderman said that.
NPE 94 The Pandorica will open, Silence will fall
I was told he will nock 4 times
The Gate is waiting for you...
I literally, and I mean literally, just finish watching the previous episode
I was so late watching that video, cause I went to college just now XD
Dang, talk about perfect timing
Azizul Adnan you’re not that late, they posted the last one yesterday.
"And I decreed 'No More'" hmmmm....might wanna Rememebr those words for later down the road.
*Spoilers for Capaldi era*
Davros: I...am...dying, Doctor
Doctor: Yeah you keep saying that you keep not dying. Can you give it some welly!
Guys please watch the wedding of Sarah Jane - it's brilliant and sad and features David tennant
When the Doctor heard the baby's name, he was humbled and honored. "Really?" Then...
"No! He's called Tony."
*GASP* He said it!! Dalek Caan said THE WORDS!! The words that would resonate throughout The Day of the Doctor!!
Rhys Frechette now I want Caan and the Doctor fight together xD
Thanks to that stupid hand My Debut was delayed. See you guys in 5 Episodes.
Or six weeks. Grr.
I love Tennant, but I’m ready for Matt Smith!
I’m dreading the Moffat era that’s when the show got Childish
"That's the one that's gonna get away. And come back next time." Eric knows the game all too well now! :D
You have to see "Genesis of the Daleks". The best thing about this episode is Sarah Jane's reaction to meeting Davros
5:09 “if you bring over a naked David Tennant” 😂
9:30 this song is epic. I always imagine the choirs of Time Lords singing the Doctor on to his absolution, saving Earth as he couldn't save Gallifrey. The Latin lyrics are also powerful: Dum inter homines, sumus colamus humanita (cum tacent clament): "When amongst humans, let us be humane."
Hearing the Daleks scream in German is kind of a throwback to...well....you know. If you ever saw the classic "Genesis of the Daleks" it would be even more apparent.
10 and donna were such an iconic duo and theirs respective fates made me so sad. genuinely almost cried at their last appearences
with all the tragedy, heartbreak, and love that pours from this finale, my favorite lines are still"
Rose: "Three Doctors?"
Cpt.
DarkAeolus 👌
The actor that played Davros was the same actor that played the ringmaster in Torchwood.
I have never been so excited to watch someone else watch something before!! Can't wait to get home so I can enjoy the episode with you guys =)
14:48 lightning... "He didn't used to do that"... yes he did hehe In the 1985 story "Revalation of the Daleks" he does have lightning powers
That "No More" from the squiggly wiggly has more impact once you're all caught up on the series.
He might have been one of the Daleks who saw the graffiti.
For those of you who see this comment as a week old a few minutes after it's released on RUclips, it's just a small matter of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff
Think of like a big ball...

*doctor who theme starts playing*
Bowl*
Did you alter the date and time on your computer or something?
Really love how you guys combined the thumbnails for your Doctor Who, Torchwood and Sarah Jane reactions for these final episodes. Truly the most ambitious crossover event in history.
it's just so sad. he loses everything and has to do it all himself. the way he looks at rose and tentoo just breaks me; everything he could never have right in front of him, and he has to walk away.
8:30 "I saw the truth of us, Creator, and I decreed NO MORE."
FORESHADOWING
Its been 10 years since this finale...
Hope you guys keep going with Matt Smith, Season 5 is really good! and the 50th anniversary is pretty damn awesome

That's a rumor that we still don't have definitive proof for. It's likely this is the case, but we can't know for sure...
Man the waters of mars episode is almost here - that shit was terrifying
I’m so excited y’all are finally meeting Matt Smith! Ten will always have a special place in my heart, but Eleven is right there beside him!
6:17 ‘I don’t feel so good...’
😭😭😭
My favorite thing about this was that Doctor Donna and Clone Doctor both used the mannerisms/speech patterns of their opposites.
That intro was delicious.
The reaction was pretty delicious too.
interesting way of describing it.....
I still cried so hard just watching the end of Donna she was so wonderful and her journey ends in such a heartbreaking way.. she will stay my favorite forever
Yes its never been about the money or effects. It's all about great writing and actors and clearly the team involved are passionate about the show
Yes this made my birthday better!
HS10ELITE happy birthday
Happy b day
Why. On. Earth. Are these titles so EPIC!? Well done!
So many emotional parts to this episode, but after all the family togetherness with his old companions and friends he still ends up being the lonely traveller in the tardis.
BEST SCENE EVER!!! THAT TARDIS FLY SCENE!! OOH the meemories makes me tear up
Davros may remind you of senator Palpatine but Davros is was first . He appeared in 1974
You guys should watch more BBC Sci-Fi shows like: Red Dwarf, Blake’s 7 and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy!
We are coming, We are coming, We are here.
So happy they're finally going to start this.
knock knock knock knock
I totally forgot you still have more Torchwood to watch when you started talking about Martha and Mickey maybe showing up... Hoo boy. Children of Earth is a doozy.
I would highly recommend you guys watch the classic Doctor Who story Genesis of the Daleks. As the name implies it tells the origins of the Daleks and it's really quite interesting and well written. Davros is introduced for the first time. And I can't get into it too much because I don't wanna ruin it for you but it's a REALLY awesome story and it fits in well with the current Doctor Who.
The meta crises doctor and Rose do have a daughter in the Titan Comics. Her name is Mia.
I love the special effects and edits this channel has.
There is a great deleted scene from that moment on the beach between The Doctor, Donna and the New Doctor and Rose. Highly recommend!
I cannot wait for you guys to watch the specials. They are quiiite good.
09:13 Calvin defending K-9’s ridiculous design is hilarious to me 😆
Side note about Donna:
Although they never managed to get it into broadcast, the creators had intended to have a scene/dialogue where we find out that she's now working for a charity.
So, although she doesn't realise it, she has still been changed by her travels with the Doctor and is still fighting the good fight.
:-)
12:19 a gif is born
6:15 Yup. Davros designed a giant machine that could Thanos the multiverse. No magic stones, just lots of metal.
Loving your reactions to these two eps, cracking me up 😂 Love Wilf he's literally my fav Companion
_We've reached the journey's end, having a laugh inside the TARDIS._
_Though it didn't make much sense, it's always nice to see them Daleks._
Due to the tardis being a sentient being it will do anything it can to make sure a fixed point is not altered or tampered with and Donna becoming the Doctor Donna is a fixed point as rose said all timelines converge on her so it was making sure it happened
The best is yet to come. So close to series 5 now, I can taste it!
The end of Donna Noble is one of the most tragic scenes in dr who for me.
