Thank you for sharing your trip. I am glad you can connect up here to Chicago. Yes, the approach here to Decatur looked nice. It is nice to see and I am glad the regional aircraft are flying to the medium and small towns here in Illinois.😊
I like the CRJ's and ERJ's!! When I visit my mom in Bloomington, Illinois from Tampa I always schedule my trip through O'Hare to ride on the CRJ-200 or sometimes the ERJ-135-145. If that fails then I take Delta to Atlanta then onto Bloomington on the CRJ-900.
EAS is something Transport Canada should look into. I know many smaller communities, including my hometown, without commercial airline service. We instead have to drive 45 minutes in sometimes severe weather to catch a flight from the nearest airport
3:10 Did anyone else notice the CRJ taxing on one engine? Idk just find it cool to see that in a video, I've never noticed planes doing that irl even though I know why they do it.
With only 2 flights to/from ORD, you have to wonder how the ground staff keep busy between flights! As for Norfolk Southern, today's Metra Southwest Service is a remnant of what pre-merger Norfolk and Western offered between CUS and Orland Park--the train would arrive there, unload and continue on empty to Decatur for overnight servicing
In March 2022, SkyWest notified the DOT of its intent to discontinue Essential Air Service to Decatur Airport. But the DOT refused to allow SkyWest to terminate service to Decatur.

Two avgeeks uploading 2 trip reports on my Birthday! Thank you for the unintended birthday gift of a new trip report!

I fly out of BMI pretty regularly, so it’s cool to see other central Illinois airports featured on your channel!

Awesome video 🎉😊
That flight is always late, like SPI and DEC get the worst delays but when I took it, it was a great flight never the less

Terminal 2 also leases gates to jetBlue.

7:14 This is literally around 600 feet above the Khunjerab Pass.
You crazy for picking a 200 over a cessna 402 lol. At least the 402 got some windows to look out haha

Cool!
I’m taking a flight from ORD to CRW (Charleston WV) for Christmas this year. I wonder if the route is also “essential air service” do you know?
I wanted to see the terminal.
You can see it in a video uploaded on this channel about a month ago when he flew out of Decatur.
Decatur get better air service to chicago than does SPI
