    Great work🙏❤ what type of solder you used? Hard or easy or medium? And is there a way to make the silver solder doesn't appear in a final brass piece?

      I use hard solder about 98% of the time. I always use silver solder. You have to plate the piece afterward to hide the seams.

    I was preparing to solder some brass wire onto a silver sheet (a couple of spiral forms and straight wire as border contrast) but after searching for info have been discouraged from doing so. I still want to do it, but don’t want to waste time/ money on a process that may not work. Can you demo mixing silver and red brass?

      I will see what I can come up with. Brass and silver soldering can be quite unpredictable.

      Melissa Muir yeah, I’m getting that🙄...I was hoping to create the gold and silver look without the gold🤓 thanks for the answer!

    I get copper plating on my piece every time. And I didn't know if that was normal or not. Some will tell you it shouldn't be doing that unless you have introduce some type of steel to the pickle . But from hearing what you just said it sounds like it kinda a normal thing. I used equal parts of my pickle and hydrogen peroxide to remove the copper from the brass.

      Julie Peck for brass, it is a totally normal thing. I think I will do a follow up TTT video on this very topic. Thanks!

      I didn't know this would happen unless you either had old pickle or a piece of steel in it! I am so surprised! Will this happen to other metals like sterling and gold filled? Or just brass? Or maybe I should wait for the video?
      lol

      The brass will copper plate naturally without the added iron or steel in the pickle. Gold and sterling shouldn't have that problem. If they do, then there is a contaminate in the pickle.

    What type of flux do you use for sweat soldering????

    • @MelissaMuir
      @MelissaMuir  5 лет назад

      Either past flux or liquid. Paste flux tends to last a little longer when I do larger pieces.

      More often than not, I use a paste Handiflux.
