    Love this song since my brother played it over and over but two things struck me about this video from a bygone age… 1. Duane and the band are definitely playing to the studio recording of the song and not live-no body raised a ruckus about that fact then like they do today, and… 2. Safety was definitely not in mind when the show had the band wheeled around two stories in the air from one end of the auditorium to the other end of the auditorium. They were definitely young and dumb. RIP Duane Eddy and thank you for capturing the sound and spirit of eternal youth that only a rock pioneer could have done!

    Some of the guys in school back then complained that Eddy's playing was overly simplistic, and that "anyone could do that." First, it takes skill to do what he did, and second, what really matters is, does the music sound good to you? It's for entertainment, fer chrissakes! Not a competition to see who can do the most complicated riffs, it's just for making music. I've been playing guitar for some time, now, and I still can't do what he did, as simple as it sounds. I'm not a natural, so I may be slow or unable to master certain skills, but I still respect those who can do what I can't.

    • @michaelszczys8316
      @michaelszczys8316 4 года назад +8

      It’s not tons of skill that makes a hit, but writing something original. If you have both then that is great but sometimes people write a new tune and can’t even play it themselves, or they learn just enough to perform it.
      I knew plenty of people that could play the neck right off of a guitar but couldn’t write anything good to save their soul.

    Original American Rock-N-Roll is the best......The British stole everything from great American originators like Duane Eddy......Long live Duane and American Rock-N-Roll.🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

      😂- not quite ! But our record company's Phillips , Pye , EM I got their singers to record ' British versions of your artists -eg Marty Wilde sang R. Valens ' Donna's, & Dion + Belmont's 'teenager in love; Th Drifters 'Upon th Roof' was copyd by Julie Grant (Pye) , & Kenny Lynch (HmV) in 1962 -- all 3 got in UK top 20. However, no UK artists could replicate Duane Eddy or Th Everly Bros or Roy Orbison.
