He's completely right, and has maintained that position for his adult life. He's not perfect in his private life, but no one is.

One of the greatest without question. I can't think of many things that represent the true American more than John.

Thank you to you and your band, for your time and service, providing musical inspirational offerings to US service men and women, their Families, friends. Seeking to provide comfort, amidst turmoil and angst of war, is helpful, and I suspect, very pleasing to our gracious Lord. Thank you.

It’s on my bucket list to meet John one day. He’s the most humble celebrity I’ve ever seen. Damn good man!

Humble? If you like his music, that’s cool. But when it comes to major league a-holes in the music business, JM ranks near the top. Kinda hard to be a “roots rocker” when you own a $10 million dollar Manhattan penthouse. He’s for the common man… he knows nothing about common.

@@stormbringercoming8105 he's also done Farm Aid for 23 or 24 years amongst other benefits For the Working Man and has continually spoken up in support of farmers, working people and unions. From your logic, it sounds as if you think if you have a great deal of money, which by the way he has worked his ass off for, you can't be humble and that's just not the case.

I never questioned his artistic integrity or his work ethic towards his craft. I never questioned his commitment to the American farmer. My point is that JM talked all the time never selling out. Well, he did. He’s had a history of being a prick to work for, generally treating people like shit. More so than the average entertainer. I suppose I just have a problem with any entertainer that HAS TO BE SEEN smoking all the time. (Also known as Sean Penn syndrome.) Especially after how many heart attacks? Like Springsteen, I have a problem with musicians that write well written songs about “the common man” and know NOTHING about that world, while making hundreds of millions about it. Not jealous, just deeply cynical.
Mellencamp knows nothing about being humble.

Life is for learning lessons. You are sooooo right! & it is sad, truly. My Mother's brother was killed WWII. He was 21. Army Air Force. Their plane was shot down over Belgium. All perished. Interred at Ardennes, Belgium. I will visit some day, one day. How my Family ended up in FL from Long Island, NY. Sold their brownstone, Long Island and moved to FL in 1947. Still, my Mom's Father died of a broken heart, age 60. He was so sad. War is terrible.

There is something wrong with the human condition, it’s called Lack of Wisdom, and a lack of understanding the Heart and mind. Some call it the joke of God, others call is Earth School of hard knocks.🤣Sin=missing the mark. We know deep down how good it feels to Git the Marks in our life.
