Yes there is a penalty box! I'm not sure about fights as I've only just started learning about Roller Derby, but jammers (the star team) can be put in the penalty box or be given advantage points for the opposing team's foul plays :)
Whenever they feel as though they can’t score anymore points or just don’t want the other jammer to score any more points for that jam they call it off. Most of the time the coaches will yell at you to call it off or call it off when you’re ready, but from experience you get too focused on the game and people around you when you’re jamming to realize 😂
When they blocked you going high, why didnt you simply jump crossover low and totally go around them? You seemed to be going slow enough and its a banked track with extra traction. Sorry if this wasn't an option, I've never played roller derby so I'm just armchairing.
