  • Installing the push rod tubes and seals, I had to source some used ones as the new ones were incorrect.

Great work Ian. That's a very good looking engine.

Thanks, not bad considering it was just a box of bits!

The later pushrod tubes / tappet blocks with wedding rings are a much better bet.The mods to early heads are to machine deeper seal holes & bevel them to avoid tearing the seals.

Good to see someone doing a video of the intricacies of setting up a triumph cylinder head, far from straight forward, don't know why nobody sells different thickness pushrod tube seals over here, then there's the torqueing down sequence.
    Good luck and well done.

Yes I thought that was odd about the tube seal availability

I think I prefer working on BSA's, much simpler design!
Although I prefer crank bearings to BSA bushes. Swings and roundabouts!

Makes one wonder why Triumph did not adopt VW beetle style push rod tubes?

I think there's a guy making adjustable pushrod tubes for Triumphs. I saw a set of them on a RUclips channel called Dirty Shirt Richter. (He's machinist who does a lot of work for Baxter Cycle's in Iowa.) I'm not sure if they're for sale yet, seems like he's still in the "testing" phase to make sure they work well. I put a T140 head together recently to replace top end gaskets and PRT seals. It was my first time doing any top end assembly and I was worried about getting those seals correct. I was quite happy that she didn't leak when all was said and done.
