Thank you for taking the extra time to film in between play. I have no gaming group so this is always a treat. Also helps me understand the rules better.
Yes. I quite agree. As a long time gamer with no steady games (presently) I like the actual nuts and bolts parts of the game as well. Thank you for a wonderful channel ! Watching in Massachusetts (or taxachussettes as residents call it😉)
Hi Tim, I always enjoy your Batt Reps and this one is your best to date! Many Thanks to you and General Dan for sharing it with us. Hope we get another one soon👍
Please show as much as possible. It allows us to see the entire game. Also, extremely helpful to help learn the game. More detail you show the better. Thank you.
As a Peninsular British Black Powder player myself, I believe the Ferocious Charge aspect to the Gallop at Everything rule is just wrong and I can find no historical justification for it in any of my readings - and my library is extensive. My mate and I don't play it but there is an advantage to the blood stock used by British light cavalry. I suggest British light cavalry get the Gallop rule but D+1 for their horses and Tough Fighter instead. As it stands, the Black Powder rules gives too consistent and a far too superior result for British cavalry over French. Mind you - I didn't think it possible but you roll dice worse than me and Dan kills you with throwing of the bones. Great report - thanks.
It does tend to be a bit over the top, for some reason I thought it was just one reroll like tough fighter, which would probably be more balanced. Tim’s dice are notoriously bad, I might get him some new ones but I doubt it would change anything 🤣
I tend to agree. Ferocious Charge is the equivalent of 2 or 3 additional combat die. This skewed my Venta del Pozo scenarios badly, I prefer to give the British Cavalry an extra combat die or tough fighter as you suggest. In the off chance you're free and have the expertise I was curious if the Spanish Grenadiers' heads come attached? I ask cause I may be planning on doing some kitbashing. Either way God bless ya man

They always fall back in the case of a moral test. I think they stick around, but there absolutely could be rule saying they bounce. We didn't find it in when we looked though!
The first rule book definitely stated that cavalry that charge and counter charge, then draw a combat, will both retire one move. Came up recently and looked it up. And was lucky to find it!
Nice models but difficult to watch for any proud servant of the Emperor. Also, the Légion du Midi was not Portuguese but Piedmontese. There was a Légion Portugaise with very similar uniforms though, this unit fought in Russia but not in the Peninsular.
Wellington...had often quite a few stern words about his cavalry and not in a good way. And it shows once again, rules are made up by people and not by history.

That's the hope. That they let you 'join' our gaming club!

Always nice to wargame vicariously on RUclips. The casualty counters look great and easily readable across the table.
Absolutely excellent as usual, By far the best Napoleonic wargaming blog on RUclips.
Thank you!
Do you prefer the end of turn summaries, or would you rather see the whole thing?
Whole!
I like the entire battle. I paint while I watch, listen and learn. Be well

Great presentation. Models and terrain well painted. A spirited game and fun to watch.
SUperb table and armies, great looking game!
That British hussar rgt. played a blinder. Promote that colonel!
Love the idea of using the beads for casualty markers!

I think that's more than reasonable! The +1 to charge and maybe even 2 extra dice for a medium/large Regiment would be more than enough
Epic looking table. One day I have to jump in to Black Powder. 👍

Do cavalry still charge on when disordered? I was under impression they didn’t but I may have misinterpreted the rules wrong.
Disordered (enemy rolls a 6) yes, shaken (at their stamina) no.
Cheers from Ukraine. Glad to download your vids and watch it before the sleep in places, where I do not have an internet.
Thanks man! I hope you enjoy and can stay safe(ish)
Great battle report! What are the dimensions of the table?
We played on a big one this time! 12 x 6
Where do you get your movement trays??
Do cav stick around in a drawn combat? I thought they bounced.

Looked an absolutely fantastic game, I’m now wondering if Dan has borrowed the loaded dice that Tim normally uses at our games 😂
Nope these are the ones that gives Tim nightmares 🤣
Only decent dice GW have ever done!
Great video thanks. Where does the retreat 2 moves on a Break test of 5/6 come from?
A 6 is 1 move, a 5 is 2 moves
@@NapoleonicWargaming ta, Clash of Eagles or 2nd Edition?
@garrywillswargamerauthor 2nd Ed...you're making me question myself now...maybe it was 1st ed 🤣
@@NapoleonicWargaming definitely not 1st edition and as far as I remember not 2nd edition either, hence my question.
not 2nd edition either
very enjoyable
It was the greatest massacre of the French army I have ever seen.
Haha, yeah, it was bad!
I like the whole thing, but I'm strange like that 😊. Thanks Tim, have a fantastic American Independence Day!
