One day I will beat Ninja Gaiden. I don’t mind the difficulty, I hate the inability to save and clunky controls. Maybe it is nostalgia, but the hardcore NES crowd never seems to talk about this. It’s always - “well if you can’t beat it without saves states, you are a lousy gamer and probably a millennial.”
It's a different mindset for sure. I didn't use save states, but I'm not going to fault anyone for how they play. Just as long as they love video games, it's alright with me 😁
Ninja Gaiden is probably in my top 3 NES games ever. I could make it to the final boss as a kid, but never beat it. I don't find the controls clunky at all. I think they're pretty precise. Ninja Gaiden is one of those games that once you get familiar with the levels and enemy locations you can run through it like hot butter.
“Everything wants to take you out” so ninja Gaiden is Australia 😂😂😂. The animals are deadly, the plants are deadly, the water is deadly, the temperature is deadly.
6:10 It's still 3rd person. 2nd person is when you are 'seeing through the eyes of another character.' It's quite rare in games but the first level boss of Battletoads is a good example.
3:09 I have a couch. Nostalgia runs deep for me. I can't do a computer chair anymore. I've corrected my posture, I just don't like being confined to a chair that moves. Now, a recliner that I can do.
Hi RNG, Thank you for the prompt response. I appreciate that. 8^) That's great to know you have a Neo-Geo. I've been playing Neo-Geo for 34 years and it's never a dull moment for me. The first game that I played for it was Magician Lord at a local Diary Queen in Paramus, NJ. From that day forward, I was a buff since. 8^) As for it missing into your collection, no worries bro. Hope to see it added to your collection someday. 8^) Would you be interested on sharing a video regarding the Neo-Geo for a future upload onto your channel? Would be fun to listen in on what you have to say. 8^) Anthony...
It's nice to hear that you've been hooked on the NeoGeo for all of these years. I'm talking about the neogeo all of the time, but I haven't done a video specifically on just it. I've done these collections videos about various systems, but I haven't done one in a while. I'm not sure my neo geo collection is big enough to warrant a whole video
I may never see a giraffe err...Monkey the same way again after that Lion King segment lol. Those games looked so dang good but were easily the most frustrating of the 90s.
Yeah! We went to the zoo last week and really enjoyed watching the giraffes swinging from rope to rope. One of them was even using it's fingers to groom another giraffe!
Catherine is extremely hard. I could barely get through it on easy mode…while trying to watch how to do every puzzle on RUclips…and it was still brutal.
My greatest gaming flex is that I was able to beat NES Ninja Gaiden on one life. In comparison to what speedrunners have done since, it's nothing - but back then it was something.
Phenomenal video my guy! Lion King used to make me soooo mad, I’m talking Ghost And Goblins mad 😂😂. Ninja Gaiden was another one! I loved the soundtrack to Ninja Gaiden
BattleToads in Battlemaniacs just arrived on the Nintendo Switch’s Super Nintendo library, and it’s a good game, but MAN! It is insanely difficult. The only way I got past the snakes level was repeatedly having to use the Rewind feature. I gave up after trying to race against a rat on a unicycle on a track or something.
It's just as hard. One of the main issues is that you're playing it on a modern TV, which have too much input delay.... with a wireless controller that adds input delay. If you were playing it on the original console it would be easier 😄
🤣 it's funny that he keeps calling monkeys giraffes in The Lion King game. I used to play Lion King and for me it was a little challenging at first, but once you get the mechanics it's a easy game. It just takes practice.
If you haven't yet, give Ikaruga a shot. It's a shootemup, it's bullet hell, it has polarities that you have to switch between on the fly... It's hell. However, because of it, Hollow Knight's pantheons, and endless rounds of Life Force and Enter the Gungeon have made it so games like Furi and Elden Ring are just "ehh" in difficulty lol Oh yeah... That Drakengard 3 finale is one of the wildest things I had ever experienced, especially not knowing it was coming
It's one of my favorite games of all time! I covered it in the very first Hardest Games I've Ever Played video... I have an Ikaruga themed arcade cabinet😅
I remember being a guest at someone's house and they had Fester's Quest. I played it, and one of the kids there kept berating me for getting killed so often... but history has vindicated me. And yeah, Ghosts and Goblins. I have the classic mini and I feel like it's one of those games that might need better response time than that can manage
@@RNGGamerYT The save states help, and with games like Mega Man 2 I manage to do passably with enough lives. I've done the highest Doctor Mario settings without save states, but some games don't work as well. The input lag that really kills me is Ninja Gaiden and of course Punch Out, but you're right, maybe G&G is in the same category. I hope there's a modern tech solution on the horizon, otherwise I'll still rant about the advantages of CRTs :)
I finished that on the first weekend rental, never understood what people found so difficult about the jiraffe stage. Its basic trial and error, roaring at the monkeys, people forget they had to roar at some monkeys so theyll change the direction they throw you at. The maze of caves what the biggest challenge
I played Super Hexagon on mobile, and wow was it hard! I could totally see the time it takes to press the key on a mechanical keyboard being a problem in this game. It was deaigned for a near-instant touchscreen.
Bloodborne is the game described of dying early on & then over, over, & over. I died more in the opening area than all other areas combined, excepting bosses. Was the 6th game I played since SNES era & got me hooked on difficult games. Looking back I still ask why? Why keep trying after dozens of deaths before even getting the first short cut to the lamp?
I loved Catherine, but that game was so damn hard I just watched a RUclips video where you could make the choices and it would go through all the puzzles so I could watch the story....
I looked into the Drakengard 3 ending and it looks hard as hell, but I will say, at least you only need to press one button. In the original Drakengard, the Ending E boss is very similar, but you need to press two different buttons in rhythm, and I believe somewhere between 40-50 presses in rapid succession in a row. I turned the game off, I didn't need that causing a blood pressure issue. Great vid RNG!
Thanks so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video. I still have to play Drakengard 1 and 2... I'm sure they are incredibly weird just like all the other games in the series
At least the original Drakengard one didn't require precise timing, since you were just firing out matching rings of your own to nullify the ones coming at you, so you could pause it, look at what's coming, unpause and spam the sequence needed to not die, but yeah.... was still a pain.
I still remember both my cousins and myself sitting down at the dinner table plotting out the course for that monkey part before we had to bring the game back to blockbusters. I don’t think I’ve ever been happier returning a game like I did for Lion King
I can attest to Lion King being weirdly difficult. Not only is it hard but it’s totally unexpected for an obvious kid’s game. I did find the adult Simba levels to be quite a bit easier than the child Simba ones.
You know a game is hard, when you get driven so mad, that you can’t tell the difference between a monkey 🙈 and a giraffe 🦒. Those darn giraffes with their super human strength and spindly arms, throwing you around the savanna. 😝 Seriously though, Lion King, you’re overhyped the difficulty. I remember renting this one on a weekend with a friend, we took turns, so every game over we switched off. I beat it by the end of the weekend. It took 2 nights staying up til midnight or 2am, but I did it. Then again, 12 year old me was built different than 42 year old me. 😂 Always enjoyable watching these schadenfreude videos. Keep up the great work, and watch out for those giraffes.
Thanks! I'll keep my eyes peeled for giraffes. 🤣 Every gamer is built differently. I beat battletoads in one weekend.... spent 100 hours failing and restarting xcom 2. But, yeah, I can beat the Lion King fairly easily now. But as a kid... it was definitely a frustrating experience.
I love Catherine! One of my all time faves. But omg you are so right about it. It's one of the few games that when i get towards the end i have to look up RUclips run throughs for help.
No doubt that some Disney classic titles are very hard but they are beautiful games, the colors, extra frames of animation that make the movement more fluid, those great little details like kicking up bones in the Elephant Graveyard. Great care was taken by talented people even if the game is unrelentingly difficult. The opposite is true for Fester's Quest. Sometimes there's a game that raises my hackles so much that I'll watch AVGN dump on it (pun intended) as part of some petty vengeance ritual. Fester's Quest is one such game. As for Super Hexagon, I would only offer a word of caution. If you last longer than 5 minutes playing this game, your immersion to the neural-network interface will be severed and you'll be able to see the coding and subroutines of The Matrix.
It is just comedy-gold that you said Giraffe every time instead of Monkey. Did the game break you that much that you can't except the existence of Monkeys hahaha? :D
I actually beat The Lion King on first weekend rental. The jiraffe and monkeys arent even that hard, the worse part in the cave maze near the end, had to map it out drawing the whole map layout down to do that. But Astyanax on the NES has a more simpler door maze in the final stage that prepared me for all future door style mazes.
few great games that crossed my mind right now that i was passing as kid whenever i started it were prehistorik 2, aladdin, lion king, comander keen..what kid knows whats difficult hehe
28:37 Very cool. Have you played Dark Savior on Sega Saturn? It has a brutal minecart section and I have been tempted to make a video like that to help people navigate the timing on all the blind jumps.
@@RNGGamerYTI’m surprised you didn’t look up any records online because there are players who can last over 5 minutes. But I have to admit I won’t be playing Super Hexagon anytime soon, eyes hurt just watching for more than 10 seconds. 😅
I still say Omega Quintet is the hardest game I've ever played and got the platinum on. Its a jrpg that has a battle system that punishes you the better you do. Often times just regular enemies can wipe out your whole team.
@RNGGamerYT it's not a bad jrpg at all. The battle system is just so unfair, but that's also its hook. One of the best one's I played by them is Dark Rose Valkyrie. Now that game is also hard, but dang is the combat system so good. Never got the plat for that one. Heck I couldn't even find a trophy guide for how to do the interrogations right.
In terms of diffuclty curves, I loved the XBox version of Ninja Gaiden and the first God of War. A curve that threw me off the cliff though... System Shock 2. All was A-OK until the last stretch. I only saw the end of that game on RUclips.
I need to get into the 3D Ninja Gaiden games... I agree about the first God of War game. It had a nice difficulty for sure. I haven't played the System Shock games. I know I need to
A video featuring clunky controls which in turn created an air of frustration, don't get me wrong some have been featured and mentioned but boy oh boy is there a long list.
I haven't actually played many of these, but I have plated Catherine. While I don't think I'd put it in my own hardest games played list, I do recall getting frustrated at times. However, something about this game really clicked with me, I enjoyed its uniqueness quite a bit, so I think for me it made the challenge more palatable. Ninja Gaiden is a classic. I have gotten very close to finishing this one, especially in more recent years with the capability to use save states to practice harder levels more rigorously, but I've never gotten good enough to beat it. I have Drakengard 3 in my backlog. That ending sequence sounds pretty obnoxious though. I guess I'm not opposed to just watching the ending online if I have to, if the game isn't respecting my valuable time. Super Hexagon sounds interesting. I've never heard of it, but I might have to try it sometime.
Thanks for the great comment! Catherine wasn't too bad for me. But it was still hard enough to make the list! You should play Drakengard 3! It's worth it... so is Super Hexagon.
Festers Quest is one of my favorite games on the old NES. You have to power up your gun to those spikes. Yes the enemies respawn but this game once you get it. It’s so much fun. Call me crazy but I’m ok with it lol
I remember renting Ninja Gaiden. I didn't get very far. I also played Furi. About 1/2 way through I decided to turn on one of the help functions to make it easier for me. I figured it was more important for me to have fun than beat it angry.
Ninja Gaiden is painfully tough! The secret is trying to somehow keep the Jump/Slash weapon to the end (it's possible) as you showed! There's one on the rightmost side of Stage 6-3 before going up. Just hold up when you hit the power-ups, so you don't waste weapon energy (you know that)! I remember playing the Lion King on Sega one summer with some relatives. That Monkey section was terribly aggravating! (We also played the board game Aggravation too)!
Great stuff. I liked Catherine, but yeah it's a strange game for sure. Ninja Gaiden is brutal, you really have to buckle down and learn everything in the game. It's not really for casual gamers that play a little and come back to it a month later. I recently beat Adventure Island for the first time. It was mentally draining and absolute brutality in the final 3 areas.
A couple of the hardest shmups I remember playing were Einhander and Ikaruga. I also remember the 7th Saga on SNEs being pretty rough. Then we come to Transformers on NES/Famicom. There is a continue cheat that you can use infinitely. However, without that cheat, the game is insane. You have 3 lives. That's it. Also it's one hit deaths. Fun, lol. Also one more insane game is Prinny 2. I played it on PSP. I'll just say this. The game starts you with 1,000 lives. Not kidding. You will need them. All.
I covered Ikaruga on the first video of the series! I have Einhander, but haven't played it yet. Several people have mentioned how difficult 7th Saga is. I had no idea. I'll have to try it out sometime. I DID play Transformers on the Famicom... it'd a disaster of a game 😆 I have been trying to find that rerelease of the Prinny games on the Switch, but it's gotten expensive.
Oh nice! Ikaruga is cool but tough for me. 7th Saga is brutal. Especially with different characters. Einhander is rough. Beating the game unlocks hard mode, but, it's already hard, lol. Too bad Prinny 2 is so expensive now. Is it available at all digitally?
I know it's kind of a pain to set up, but I would love you to do a video on kaizo Mario. Not an officially released game, but it created a whole genre and community. Plus it's stupid hard
I'm familiar with it! It could make a really good live stream. Maybe if someone wants to see it badly enough, they could make it a gold star game and force me to play it
I played Lion King for the SNES as a kid and it was absolutely infuriating. An even more infuriating game was Rocketeer for the SNES, not hard per se but tedious and vomit inducing.
That final boss on the end (with the button pressing), that's pretty impressive! That's original and almost art like. Frustrating definitely, but it looks cool, with everything slowing down and fading to black. And yes "Cave" games are amazing!! "Guwangai" (probably spelt that wrong). Not the toughest, but just so much fun
@@RNGGamerYT I'm not sure if this would suit your channel? But if you like arty games, try "paratopic". You play as someone tasked with delivering video tapes. It's one of those you kind of, have to play multiple times to understand. Anyway!! Looking forward to the next video!! Good to see You're better 🤘
Never thought I'd see super hexagon get a mention haha, bought that like 10 years ago for college breaks, quick fun that feels like a brutal arcade experience I know ill never beat but im okay with that as long as it wasted some time. The gamr that I couldnt beat as a kid was DK Country 2 for the GBA, came back to beat the final boss which I did but I realized lil me was so close to beating it back then haha.
The lion king is really tough I've only beat it once funny thing with the stampede I think if you stay far left nothing will hit you... pretty sure im remembering that correctly
Dude I love these beating the backlog and tough games lists! Nioh is one of the toughest I’ve ever played. And I get that it’s a soulslike but to me it’s challenge feels a bit unfair
Fester's quest is the original hard-core mode. I remember playing it. That's it, that's all I remember. My brain may be suppressing the more traumatic memories. 😂
I think Fester's Quest is okay, not bad or great. It's has several flaws but can still be fun. The difficulty is mostly due to these flaws. I wouldn't call it a diamond in the rough, but maybe some lesser gemstone in a lot of rough.
I understand the frustration people have with this game; it's just that I see a sliver of the Sunsoft charm that some of their other games have in abundance (e.g., Batman). While the AVGN is hyperbolic, his complaints about how the gun can be less than useful and the mostly pointless power down items are spot on. If they wanted the player to consider using different guns depending on the situation, they should have just done it like Mega Man or Contra 3, where the player can choose from the different weapons (either all of them like in the former or a select number like the latter).
Great list man! Some of these look crazy! I do like Festers Quest myself, but that’s probably because of hours of The Lion King pushing me into insanity as a kid. 😂 There’s no coming back from that one. 😂 Great video brother!
Great video! Ive got an impossible game for you, literally any 4 player co-op game where you have to beat it with your wife, a 6 year old, and a 4 year old😂 Ive completed the adventure of link without save states, plok on hard mode, and super ghouls and ghosts. but mario wonder on the switch with the 4 of us genuinely sent me over the edge.
Responding to this video because it’s easier. I just picked up World of Horror because of one of your recent videos. Thanks! Hard game for me, DK Topical Freeze Final boss. It took me 2 hrs to take him down. Phew
Catherine uses the same engine as persona 5 but it's not part of the Smt series at all, to my knowledge. Also, when you saw Atlas, you should have known right away it was gonna be hard as balls, lol. I gave up on it and sold my copy
I beat all 3 NES Ninja Gaiden games using an NES Advantage controller. I actually got my name in Nintendo Power for beating Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos. The NES Max controller is actually really good for R.C. Pro Am Racer. If you don't believe me, give it a try. A friend of mine had a NES Max controller back in the day and it makes R.C. Pro Am Racer so much easier. I haven't even tried Furi or Super Hexagon because both games look like an exercise in frustration. The best I ever did at Ketsui is a 3cc and I was playing it on PS4. I'm waiting for you to put Hagane: The Final Conflict (SNES) on one of these videos, LOL. I HAVE beaten that, but it's BALLS HARD! In fact, it's so hard that when I finally did it, I never want to ever have to do that again.
I played the 3D Ninja Garden and Sigma, once you get the hang of it,its all right. Now that I think about it,Lion King,I think, subconsciously put me off gaming for a while as I played it when I was like 8 year old.Very frustrating.
Don't laugh, but I use a dept store cosmetics chair that I grabbed during a demolition. These chairs are designed to be comfortable and keep you sitting up straight for hours while they do cosmetics on your face..lol Best chair I have ever found for an office.
My best achievements, back in the day, I beat legit, Ninja Gaiden 1,2 AND THREE! And Goonies 2 with no instructions which is NUTS. I may have left NES on overnight possible for some of this ^^ I beat Bayonetta 2 on WiiU at the INFINITE difficulty. U gotta beat it normal to unlock hard, thenu gotta beat hard to unlock infinite. I put over 2000 hours into Binding of Isaac Afterbirth+ on switch, and achieved the 1,000,000% achievement, 100% of everything on all threesave files to get this achievement. Weirdly, I love catlevania series and Megaman, but I only ever beat Castlevania 4 and Megaman 2, zero of the rest. A big shame on me as a 50 ish year old life long gamer. Never beat Contra legit 3 lives before yet either, but I wanna start training on that soon on my NES.
Beating all 3 Ninja Gaiden games is crazy! Congratulations. I beat Bayonetta on Infinite Climax mode... it was pretty tough. I also have over 1000 hours in the Binding of Isaac. I'm playing out right now. The new expansion, Repentance, makes the game way too hard and more than doubles the amount of content
I alreayd mastered the 2000 + hours 3 ful save files when repentence dropped, so for me it was perfect, tons of new HARD stuff. I have only 1 lefgft., , only 1 completion mark I have not yet done and that is killing MOTHER with Tained Jacob. That Esau bastage keeps atacking me so very hard@@RNGGamerYT
I know the hardest games for me are more about me not using the mechanics properly so I give up. Xcom, Dark Souls, all gave up on but I know that’s more me then the game
I beat the Lion King when I was like 9 or 10. I think I loved so much the movie that I kept trying it even if the game have in some parts really anoying sections, not to say bad design. I was at the last level of Catherine when my computer broke and I never try it again. I'm at the middle of Furi also but I stop playing it. It is a hard but rewarding game. Really like the visual, music and gameplay. Maybe I should re take it.
I absolutely love the Drakengard series. When the third one came out, I kept waking up the night before too excited to sleep. Got to the very end (maybe a few weeks a month at the very most) playing that damn song broke me. Then after clearing it and (about a month or so of attempts) I was ready to put that game down for good.
Man, I need to dust off my PS3 and give Catherine a spin. I had a feeling it'd be an interesting game given that it's Atlus. Once I started getting into the SMT games, I realized that they were for me. It all started with watching one of my friends play through Nocturne on PS2 in college. Such a change from every other JRPG I had known. Really impressed me. Ps can't wait to see more Cave games appear on switch. Even if they kick my butt.
FURI is a badass game! I have it on switch. So styish nice art style. This indie FREE shmup has a simlar thig to Ketsui. It is called Galshell, it has alot of demon boobeez and weird art like that, but the thing is, the closer you are tot he enemies, the more DMG your shots ddo. Really amazing art of the graphics. If u need help finding it I can poioint u the right direction. PC game
Anyhow- I loved this game [Festers Quest], I really did. I found that certain weapons were designed for certain areas and this was key to getting through the game. The esoteric level design was huge for me- as a fan of Deadly Towers and Wizards & Warriors. Hell - even Gauntlet on the arcade. I took it as a personal challenge to figure out. I ended up beating this game as a team effort with my friends one weekend. We had methodically written out the paths and everyone had an area they were the best at. Great memories! Thank you.
YT ate my response- I guess because there was a hyperlink in it. But a historian on Reddit dug into why Festers Quest was made and it was an interesting read. Cheers.
You're most welcome! I bet playing it collaboratively with your friends like that really helped it be more fun. Sadly, my experience was sitting alone in the dark cursing at the TV 😅
Great list of games! I laughed real hard when you threw your old chair off the cliff 🤣….I bought the Disney Classics Collection on the Switch that includes The Lion King. I’ll have to play it soon and hopefully welcome the difficulty.
I'm glad you liked that! The cliff was only about 3 feet wide... I was so afraid of falling off backwards 😆 Give it a shot... you'll be shocked by how difficult it is.
Ninja Gaiden games are hard af. My best friend and I traded that original one back and forth for years and neither of us ever completed it. I don't remember how far we got, but I think it was that last stage. Brutal. And the sequels are harder, it's insane. Later on, after I had a SNES, one of us acquired a Game Genie, and together we cheated all the way through the NES trilogy. 😆 This may not come as a surprise, but just so you know: even with Game Genie cheats that sh!t was hard af.
@@RNGGamerYT Yeah, I think it was due to having limited inputs and ending up going with something like infinite ninja magic or something like that. So we still had to play the actual games, but with advantages. And while they may have always exceeded my skill, they are all fantastic games, definitely top-tier NES.
Ohh Ninja Gaiden for the NES! I played that as a kid and I got so good I could play it through multiple times in a row. Fester’s Quest was awesome! We would play it for hours.
Lauri!!! I'm so glad to see your comment. You sound like a beast at Ninja Gaiden. I could barely beat it once 😆 What in the world made you like Fester's Quest!?! 😁

The BARRY cheat was a life saver back in the day. Still remember it to this day for some reason.

Ninja Gaiden is one of those games that once you get familiar with the levels and enemy locations you can run through it like hot butter.
I beat it on original hardware no save states and honestly it’s not that hard the key is to practice
@scottschoppert9149 that's the key to everything... except murder 😅

6:10 It's still 3rd person. 2nd person is when you are 'seeing through the eyes of another character.' It's quite rare in games but the first level boss of Battletoads is a good example.
I feel like you're looking through the eyes of an observer during that scene. But, I guess you're right 😅
I just finished Spec Ops The Line on FUBAR difficulty. The abundance of grenades made me have flashbacks to Call of Duty World At War. My god.
Congrats! I beat Spec Ops: The Line on Fubar, too.... but world at war gave me fits with all the grenades. I actually gave up on it 😅
3:09 I have a couch. Nostalgia runs deep for me. I can't do a computer chair anymore. I've corrected my posture, I just don't like being confined to a chair that moves. Now, a recliner that I can do.

My greatest gaming flex is that I was able to beat NES Ninja Gaiden on one life. In comparison to what speedrunners have done since, it's nothing - but back then it was something.
It's a big deal! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise 😁
Phenomenal video my guy! Lion King used to make me soooo mad, I’m talking Ghost And Goblins mad 😂😂. Ninja Gaiden was another one! I loved the soundtrack to Ninja Gaiden
Thanks so much! I really appreciate that you enjoyed the video. The soundtrack to Ninja Gaiden was S-tier.
Nintendo Power volume 8 had a map and tips on Fester's Quest. Any game featured in Nintendo Power was sure to get at least some traction.
That's true! I forgot it was in Nintendo Power!
🤣 it's funny that he keeps calling monkeys giraffes in The Lion King game. I used to play Lion King and for me it was a little challenging at first, but once you get the mechanics it's a easy game. It just takes practice.
I left in the mistake because I thought it was funny, too!
It didn't give me too much trouble as an adult, but it was a nightmare as a kid
Catherine is one of my all time favorite games. The game within the game at the bar is waaaay harder if you get far into it.
I read able to beat the arcade game at the bar... but I had to look up a couple of guides when I got stuck 😆
@@RNGGamerYT yea I've beaten Catherine probably 10x, I'm an obsessive person so I just kept grinding till I figured it out
If you haven't yet, give Ikaruga a shot. It's a shootemup, it's bullet hell, it has polarities that you have to switch between on the fly... It's hell.
However, because of it, Hollow Knight's pantheons, and endless rounds of Life Force and Enter the Gungeon have made it so games like Furi and Elden Ring are just "ehh" in difficulty lol
Oh yeah... That Drakengard 3 finale is one of the wildest things I had ever experienced, especially not knowing it was coming
It's one of my favorite games of all time! I covered it in the very first Hardest Games I've Ever Played video... I have an Ikaruga themed arcade cabinet😅
@@RNGGamerYT ...I'm a little jealous. Not gonna lie.
@@RNGGamerYT and yeah, I'm new to the channel. I've got some catching up to do, honestly lol
The classic has too much input delay to make ghosts and Goblins feasible.
Fester's Quest is a nightmare... I don't care what anyone says 😆
Haha Lion King - that was a perfect description of my experience. No one got to the grown-up Simba stage.
I'm glad you liked that! I had a fun time taking about it
I finished that on the first weekend rental, never understood what people found so difficult about the jiraffe stage. Its basic trial and error, roaring at the monkeys, people forget they had to roar at some monkeys so theyll change the direction they throw you at. The maze of caves what the biggest challenge
@mannyrobles3065 some people are just built differently 😆
I played Super Hexagon on mobile, and wow was it hard! I could totally see the time it takes to press the key on a mechanical keyboard being a problem in this game. It was deaigned for a near-instant touchscreen.
I'm not sure if it was designed for PC or mobile first.... but it's hard everywhere 😆
Watch the other videos in this series that I've made! You'll get to hear me talk ALL about Bloodborne 🤣
1:22 didn't even notice, till you pointed it out, LOL. Now I want to know more
It's not as scandalous as everyone thought! I have a one year old, and she just wiped her milky mouth on my shoulder 😅
🥰 Awww@@RNGGamerYT
I don't think a lot of my viewers think about babies very often 😆
I loved Catherine, but that game was so damn hard I just watched a RUclips video where you could make the choices and it would go through all the puzzles so I could watch the story....
Haha! Did you watch all 8 endings?!?
@Kyrika I still need to play the first Drakengard game
I still remember both my cousins and myself sitting down at the dinner table plotting out the course for that monkey part before we had to bring the game back to blockbusters. I don’t think I’ve ever been happier returning a game like I did for Lion King
Haha! Sweet relief 😅
I can attest to Lion King being weirdly difficult. Not only is it hard but it’s totally unexpected for an obvious kid’s game.
I did find the adult Simba levels to be quite a bit easier than the child Simba ones.
The difficulty is definitely front-loaded!
I'm sure a ton of kids were super disappointed with it 😆
You know a game is hard, when you get driven so mad, that you can’t tell the difference between a monkey 🙈 and a giraffe 🦒. Those darn giraffes with their super human strength and spindly arms, throwing you around the savanna. 😝
Seriously though, Lion King, you’re overhyped the difficulty. I remember renting this one on a weekend with a friend, we took turns, so every game over we switched off. I beat it by the end of the weekend. It took 2 nights staying up til midnight or 2am, but I did it. Then again, 12 year old me was built different than 42 year old me. 😂
Always enjoyable watching these schadenfreude videos. Keep up the great work, and watch out for those giraffes.
Thanks! I'll keep my eyes peeled for giraffes. 🤣
Every gamer is built differently. I beat battletoads in one weekend.... spent 100 hours failing and restarting xcom 2. But, yeah, I can beat the Lion King fairly easily now. But as a kid... it was definitely a frustrating experience.
Ever play UN Squadron or Alexay? Both those games kicked my ass. And yea Lion King was so unfair, never got past the monkey and rhino tails as a kid.
I've played both of them a little bit! They are both in the backlog, I really want to beat them
I love Catherine! One of my all time faves. But omg you are so right about it. It's one of the few games that when i get towards the end i have to look up RUclips run throughs for help.
It's insane! I had to look up quite a few as well. 😅
I agree. The presentation on these Disney titles is phenomenal. Not so much on Fester's Quest.
The Super Hexagon comment gave me a good chuckle 😆
It is just comedy-gold that you said Giraffe every time instead of Monkey. Did the game break you that much that you can't except the existence of Monkeys hahaha? :D
You're not too far off in your assumption 🤣
The whole intro was absolutely gold ...
In fact your pain was a great balm for life!!
(Maybe I'm one sick puppy?)
Have a great weekend J.
🦒
Thanks! I'm glad you liked the intro. It was a lot of fun to put together
Congrats on beating it on the first weekend! You were able to pull one over on them 😄
Astyanax is in my backlog, I'm going to play it eventually.
few great games that crossed my mind right now that i was passing as kid whenever i started it were prehistorik 2, aladdin, lion king, comander keen..what kid knows whats difficult hehe
Commander Keen was deceptively difficult! I would always get stuck after an hour or so !
28:37 Very cool. Have you played Dark Savior on Sega Saturn? It has a brutal minecart section and I have been tempted to make a video like that to help people navigate the timing on all the blind jumps.
I haven't! I've been trying to get a copy of that game for years. It's gotten pretty expensive 😁
I love your content and Drakengard 3 is no joke I really playing and when I got the end I was like what the hell is this. And rage quit lol
Thanks, brother! The end of it was like a fever dream. I wonder why they went in that direction with it 😅
@@RNGGamerYT yoko taro is really weird that’s probably why lol.
@malo1291 no doubt about that! 😅
If you really want to be a masochist, play Gradius 3 arcade. They actually pulled it from arcades when it was new because it was too hard.
I've played it! I couldn't get close to the 1CC 😆
That game super hexagon!!! Wow. I got motion sick. No way I'd try to play that! Probably have a seizure and swallow my tongue!!! 😂
Haha, you're not wrong! It's a trip to play
@@RNGGamerYTI’m surprised you didn’t look up any records online because there are players who can last over 5 minutes. But I have to admit I won’t be playing Super Hexagon anytime soon, eyes hurt just watching for more than 10 seconds. 😅
@kagemusha77 jeez... 5 minutes is insane
I still say Omega Quintet is the hardest game I've ever played and got the platinum on. Its a jrpg that has a battle system that punishes you the better you do. Often times just regular enemies can wipe out your whole team.
A lot of those Compile Heart games can get brutal! I didn't play this one... but I thought about it 😅
@RNGGamerYT it's not a bad jrpg at all.
@buckroger6456 I actually have Dark Rose Valkyrie! It's buried in the backlog somewhere 😄
@RNGGamerYT that's awesome 👌. One day you'll get to play it and it'll be on your beating the backlog video 😀.
Love the channel.
@buckroger6456 thanks so much!
Clunky controls are the prime culprit when reviewing a hard game. It's always apparent when the game is working against you
I did finish fester's quest back in the day. I forgot the ending, never played it again.
I can't believe you actually finished it! That's incredible
You said Shmup and my mind went to Rayxanber II on the PC engine. Game is so hard that it laugh at you in the title screen.
I have it.... I'm sure it's going to absolutely wreck me 😆
Thanks for watching, brother!
You're a braver soul than me! I couldn't get into it 😆
I remember renting Ninja Gaiden. I didn't get very far. I also played Furi. About 1/2 way through I decided to turn on one of the help functions to make it easier for me. I figured it was more important for me to have fun than beat it angry.
I won't fault you for turning on the help function! As long as you had a good time 😄
Ninja Gaiden is painfully tough!
You cracked the code on Ninja Gaiden for sure!
I always feel stupid on the Monkey* section
Great stuff. I liked Catherine, but yeah it's a strange game for sure. Ninja Gaiden is brutal, you really have to buckle down and learn everything in the game. It's not really for casual gamers that play a little and come back to it a month later. I recently beat Adventure Island for the first time. It was mentally draining and absolute brutality in the final 3 areas.
Catherine is a unique game, for sure. There's nothing quite like it.
Adventure Island is another tough one. Maybe it'll make a future video 😅
I DID play Transformers on the Famicom... it'd a disaster of a game 😆
I have been trying to find that rerelease of the Prinny games on the Switch, but it's gotten expensive.
Oh nice! Ikaruga is cool but tough for me. 7th Saga is brutal. Especially with different characters. Einhander is rough. Beating the game unlocks hard mode, but, it's already hard, lol. Too bad Prinny 2 is so expensive now. Is it available at all digitally?
@Fox_Mulder_1_At_Work it's available digitally, but I really try to stick to physical releases
Ah, gotcha.
I know it's kind of a pain to set up, but I would love you to do a video on kaizo Mario. Not an officially released game, but it created a whole genre and community. Plus it's stupid hard
I'm familiar with it! It could make a really good live stream. Maybe if someone wants to see it badly enough, they could make it a gold star game and force me to play it
Try Shadow of the Beast 2 (Amiga). I used to love this game, but could barely get anywhere in it, even with the infinite energy cheat.
All of the Shadow of the Beast games are incredibly hard. I've only spent any decent time with the first one... but I got super angry with it 😅
I played Lion King for the SNES as a kid and it was absolutely infuriating. An even more infuriating game was Rocketeer for the SNES, not hard per se but tedious and vomit inducing.
I haven't played the Rocketeer before.... is it a sidescroller?
@@RNGGamerYT It's compilation of terrible games in one...AVGN says it's the worst SNES game ever made and I agree...
It's extremely artistic and beautiful... bit it's so different from the rest of the game😆
Super Hexagon is a phenomenal game! I'm glad I got to include it.
I didn't even realize there was a DK Country 2 on a handheld 😅
The lion king is really tough I've only beat it once funny thing with the stampede I think if you stay far left nothing will hit you... pretty sure im remembering that correctly
That's mostly what I did! Haha
I love Catherine but I can’t even get past the 3rd level. What a smart bloke I am😮
Never give up! It's worth putting the time into it to get better 😁
Dude I love these beating the backlog and tough games lists! Nioh is one of the toughest I’ve ever played. And I get that it’s a soulslike but to me it’s challenge feels a bit unfair
Thanks so much! I have both Nioh games.... I'm kind of dreading having to play them 😆
Fester's quest is the original hard-core mode. I remember playing it. That's it, that's all I remember. My brain may be suppressing the more traumatic memories. 😂
It's unbelievably bad in its design. I'm shocked anyone stuck with it long enough to finish it.
Should check out La-Mulana, it is hard on a different level than just enemies and clunky gameplay. Don't blame me for the migraines
I have the collector's edition of LA Mulana 1&2. I really hope they get picked for me to play 😆
I think Fester's Quest is okay, not bad or great. It's has several flaws but can still be fun. The difficulty is mostly due to these flaws. I wouldn't call it a diamond in the rough, but maybe some lesser gemstone in a lot of rough.
Haha. It's a cubic zirconia in the rough 😆
Me and my cousin beat this game it was hard at first but we kept at it and end up beating it.
Which one of the games?
Great list man! Some of these look crazy! I do like Festers Quest myself, but that’s probably because of hours of The Lion King pushing me into insanity as a kid. 😂 There’s no coming back from that one. 😂 Great video brother!
Thanks, man!
I knew you'd be the kind of guy to like Fester's Quest! Haha. Hope to see you tonight for the stream
That hexagon game would make me dizzy and vomit followed by a seizure dam. Just watching is hurting my head
It's intense! Playing it feels like when they give you gas at the dentist 😅
@@RNGGamerYT o no I'll tap out now lmao
A game where you die right away and then keep dying over and over and over. Yeah, for me that was Medal of Honor storming the beach on D-Day.
I had the same exact experience when I rented it 😄
Great video! Ive got an impossible game for you, literally any 4 player co-op game where you have to beat it with your wife, a 6 year old, and a 4 year old😂
Ive completed the adventure of link without save states, plok on hard mode, and super ghouls and ghosts. but mario wonder on the switch with the 4 of us genuinely sent me over the edge.
Ummm... I'm player Super Mario Wonder with my wife, a 9 year old,.... and an almost 2 year old. There have been actual tears shed 😅
I died like what 360 or 353 times in ghost,s n goblins when I was 16 and I was very calm the entire time I was that game on my Nintendo switch
Ghosts n Goblins made the first video in the series. It's unbelievably brutal. Thanks for watching!
2:37 I get it. It's just like getting a trophy or unlockable that you just quite get right. Even though you've had tons of practice.
Exactly!!
Responding to this video because it’s easier. I just picked up World of Horror because of one of your recent videos. Thanks! Hard game for me, DK Topical Freeze Final boss. It took me 2 hrs to take him down. Phew
Thanks for the comment! World of Horror looks like a worthy game to pick up!
DK tropical freeze was a fantastic game!
Catherine uses the same engine as persona 5 but it's not part of the Smt series at all, to my knowledge. Also, when you saw Atlas, you should have known right away it was gonna be hard as balls, lol. I gave up on it and sold my copy
I mean.. it's definitely in the same universe.
I loved the game... but it was a nightmare at points
yep i gave up on drakengard boss after 3, 4 hours. it was infuriating
Thanks for watching until the end of the video! I'm glad we could share the same frustration 😆
Congrats on beating all 3 Ninja Gaiden games! 😄
I need to pickup Hagane.... but it's so expensive
The PAL version of Festers Quest made it much more playable.
Really!?! What changes did they make?

@ryanspalding8478 what!?! Them hitting the walls was one of the worst parts of the game 🤣

You can get the hang of the 3D Ninja Gaiden games!?! I always assumed everyone quit after the first area 😅

Xcom and dark souls both made appearances on these videos! I have the same issue 😆
Ninja Gaiden is amazing. The reboots are great as well.
I have only ever played the first one! I need to get into the others
You should try Kena: Bridge of Spirits if you havent. Its a real sleeper with its cute visuals. Some of the bosses are HARD.
I have it! I got it at a gamestop sale a while back. I have gotten a lot of recommendations for it. Thanks for letting me know how you feel about it 😁
I enjoyed it too.
@ebbderelict I'm excited to give it a try!
Jump back in and finish off Furi! The end of it is really rewarding 😁
Haha! I'm surprised to see so many people struggled so much with the end of it! I thought I was the only one 😆
You absolutely have to play Catherine! There's no other game like it.
I'm up for anything from CAVE!
You say it’s a list of “impossible” games, but then discuss how you beat them. So they’re not impossible?
They're not... but they definitely feel like they are while you're playing them
Fester's Quest took me 30 years to finally beat... But I still love Fester's Quest! Guess it's one you gotta grow up with.. :)
30 years isn't so bad 😅 I'm happy you were finally able to beat it. I'm sure it's a lot better once you know exactly where to go

@djpythonsexotics2704 haha! I should have used mine 😁
PC game
I think I've seen Galshell talked about on the shmups forum. I'm not opposed to trying it out.
I'll have to go check that out!
I was so afraid of falling off backwards 😆
Give it a shot... you'll be shocked by how difficult it is.
Yeah bro Catherine was crazy
Crazy in all of the right ways! 😆
You're so right about the USB cable. Takes me about 5 goes at least. 😂
It's like a curse that was placed on all of humanity 🤣
Ninja Gaiden games are hard af. My best friend and I traded that original one back and forth for years and neither of us ever completed it. I don't remember how far we got, but I think it was that last stage. Brutal. And the sequels are harder, it's insane.
Later on, after I had a SNES, one of us acquired a Game Genie, and together we cheated all the way through the NES trilogy. 😆
This may not come as a surprise, but just so you know: even with Game Genie cheats that sh!t was hard af.
That's hilarious! I had no idea it was still hard with a game genie. So unfair 😆
@@RNGGamerYT Yeah, I think it was due to having limited inputs and ending up going with something like infinite ninja magic or something like that. So we still had to play the actual games, but with advantages.
And while they may have always exceeded my skill, they are all fantastic games, definitely top-tier NES.
@syntheticsleep I agree! Definitely top tier!
Bro Lion kings !? really.... I beat that game with ninja focus under a waterfall.
There's always one of you 🤣
Ohh Ninja Gaiden for the NES! I played that as a kid and I got so good I could play it through multiple times in a row.
Fester’s Quest was awesome! We would play it for hours.
Lauri!!! I'm so glad to see your comment.
You sound like a beast at Ninja Gaiden. I could barely beat it once 😆
What in the world made you like Fester's Quest!?! 😁
i expected a very diferent ninja gaiden(xbox) which made me break my first controler ever when i was 10
I need to play it! It's obviously very popular in the comments 😁
Original ninja gaiden on the og Xbox. Damn that game was insane hard when you started
I've heard 90% of people couldn't beat the first area... 😅
Hi RNG,
I'm new to your channel and pleased to meet you.
For a future upload into your channel, will you have any work planned in the near future regarding the Neo-Geo? My favorite title of all time is Magician Lord. It's an incredible, yet challenging game to play that I feel it would be to your liking.
Anthony..
Hello! I'm glad you are enjoying the channel. I have a neo geo and quite a few games for it, but sadly, I'm missing Magician Lord. I have played it before, though. 😁
Returnal humbled me like nothing else.
Returnal and Seikiro are the most mentioned games in the comments! I really need to play them 😆
Returnal is great, but my God it has brought me to tears.
@kevincoker4178 I can't wait to struggle with it 😅
