Hopefully Nintendo will put these game on the Nintendo Switch SNES Pack but Brawl Brother's arr on the switch and if I'm not mistaken but I think Brawl Brothers are getting a remake if I'm not mistaken??
RAMPART!!! We used to play that tirelessly in college back in the 90s! PC first, then someone bought a SNES in the dorm. There was a whole culture surrounding that game in our quad. They get mad at me because I'd only shoot 1 or 2 shots in a round with a fire cannon in very exact spots so they couldn't rebuild. Haha! They called me Strateg-O.
Used to love Rampart! Underrated game
Super Famicom and SNES had a huge library of great titles.
Truth!
@@GregsGameRoom the best on SNES only came from Japan "TRUTH"
@@flatcapman Donkey Kong Country came out of the UK
respect for mentioning Rampart. I have the arcade at home.
Love that game, and it doesn’t get enough recognition.
Both songs of Biometal are from 2Unlimited: title screen is ‘Get ready for this’ and the in-game is ‘twilight zone’
Hm, hope it doesn’t get flagged! lol
Apparently actually licensed, too!
I was just about to say this! One of my favorite groups back in high school!
What a great band! Recommend their early stuff.
@@GregsGameRoom Nah, wouldn't worry too much about that ;-)
SNES has nearly 2000 titles in total worldwide, so there are probably a whole lot of games that get largely ignored.
Yeah the same 50 or so games get mentioned a lot.
As more and more games get made, (and let's face it, nobody is living longer) even games that are borderline good will have to be out aside.
Nobody is even gonna have time to play all the great games.
As a species , we are in fact living longer now than ever in history.
Whats a weird coincidence, I owned like 6-7 of these games.
@@mikistjep Looks like you had some original taste. :)
I love videos like this ☺️ where you just play random games and react to them. Nothing flashy or promoting any overrated billion dollar block buster game that's gonna be buggy at launch, just playing some old school random games people have mostly forgotten about. Awesome! The Super Nintendo was one of my favorite consoles growing up
This was definitely the best era of gaming!
@@GregsGameRoom i agree my man! I have so many great memories from that era. I'm 43 so I've almost been alive throughout the entire video game era. Almost. The very first video game I ever played was Pong on a Coleco Telstar lol. Black and white! Lol. But when the 16 bit era came around it amazed me! ☺️
@blackenedheart9592 I'm a bit younger, but not much just turned 37, my first system ever was SNES but I remember that feeling the first time I saw a Playstation and it's graphics, it's Def something you don't forget... good times, simpler times....
Uniracers was definitely one of my favorite games growing up
Uniracers was good.😊
Uniracers is a great game. Tricks are accomplished by moving the D pad around and using the shoulder buttons while you are in the air. It's best enjoyed while playing with a friend.
Glad you like it!
Why were they sued for such a generic looking game? There aren't even trade mark worthy characters.
Nice to include games like Push-over and Troddlers. Truly some of the least mentioned of SNES gems.
Puzzlers don’t get much recognition.
You should call up Joe from Game Sack, he always says that he has no friends
Then we could be friendless together!
Add Mark from Classic Game Room, maybe he'll invite you two to play in his Space Arcade!
I remember my big cuz renting Brawl Brothers once in 1993! It was so fun and funny! Movements the sound effects!! LMAO
Even more obscure than "Legend" is "Iron Commando". Both games use the same engine, but Iron Commando is a bit faster, and even more difficult (but you have 2 or 3 credits). I recommend to give it a try!
I definitely will!
We grew up with a SNES and I honestly thought I was going to go the whole video not knowing a single game (we did have Uniracers), I’m floored at the fact that I wasn’t familiar with a majority of these.
Tried to get as many obscure ones as possible.
@@GregsGameRoom fantastic job!
Really happy with this channel. Keep up the great work. And you get bonus points for taking The high ground in super double dragon!
Thanks! I usually try to be diplomatic. Someone worked hard on these games.
Great channel friend!
I've watched dozens of these videos over the past few years trying to round out my SNES collection, and this video actually had a decent looking game I have not heard of; Realm.
It was a fairly late release I understand.
Oh my gosh this was great!
Enjoyed the video & quite a few games I hadnt heard of.
I have a few of these - Family Dog, Super Bowling, Tin Star & Uniracers.
Uniracers with a friend is fun, playing alone is a test of patients 😅
Glad someone likes it!
It's one of my favorites. The tracks colors indicate what is ahead, and if you have room for tricks. Tricks=speed boosts. My friend and I rented it back in the day, because there was nothing else there. We figured it would suck... We played ALL NIGHT! These days, if we actually get time away from family duties, he'll still pop over to my place to play Uniracers!
The Lost Vikings, Rock'n Roll Racing, Lemmings, some of the best.
As always, it’s fun commentary and watching the different games is fun. I can remember, but what up with the cat sound during that game? And yes you have friends 😂 you make yourself sound like someone who is stuck in a basement 😂. This was a fun one Greg!
Greg2 has friends. ;-)
Fun video, I like your delivery. Subbed.
Thanks for this list, it reunited me with a version of Choplifter that I can play. I think I played an early version of that when I was a kid, but never knew it's name.
Also, that "Ninja Warriors" game on SNES has been remade. Anybody wanting to play that game should be seeking out, "Ninja Saviors: Return of the Warriors."
I know it kinds sounds like a sequel, but it's a true remaster in all the right ways.
I gotta check that out!
Strike Gunner STG was hella fun to play with a friend. You could each pick different special weapons, and you could even link your jets together in different configurations. Added a whole other layer to the game.
Good video! There were indeed a few cool looking games herei had never heard of.
Now where did I leave my tricornner hat....
In the closet?
Omg. Family Dog pilot episode was a classic. I laughed thru the whole episode
Great video! Would like to see with older consoles - Atari, Intv, Coleco, Vectrex, etc.. too!
My sister & I would play Rampart for hours. Very much an overlooked multi-player game.
Power instinct is one of the best fighting games on the snes
There’s a lot of contenders for the best one.
My neighbors and I had a phase where we played a LOT of Super Bowling. Used to be able to get a perfect game like every time. Super Double Dragon was actually the first game I played on mine and my brother's SNES when we got it, Christmas of 1992. For some reason we popped that in instead of SMW.
Definitely better than me!
@GregsGameRoom definitely can't do that now lol
Sometimes, a good generic shump is exactly what you need. Just like a simple hamburger, chips and coke makes you feel like a king once is a while.
Between the snes and emulators i played a ton of these. I remembered a ton of seeing them in nintendo power magazine as well.
I really loved uniracers, you built speed by doing tricks and they had diminishing returns which made you have to vary things up to keep your speed or score up. It was a progenitor to the skate and snowboarding games of the next generation.
10:09 OMG I figured it out! This is where Michael Jordan was when NBA Jam was happening and why he wasn't in that game! He was off having his own magical adventure!!
Bio Metal is actually an awesome shooter once you learn how to play it. You can shoot your shield off in 8 directions to cause serious damage to enemies. The game has a bit of a time management element to it as you put the shield away any chance you get to let it recharge and unleash it on your enemies to tear through them. I would personally recommend remapping the controls in options: y=shoot, b=turn shield on and off, l=spin expansion, r=shoot shield in a direction.
The visuals also get much, much better after the first level. Level 2 in particular looks absolutely gorgeous. Give it another chance.:)
Uniracers definitely with the effort to learn the controls, because once you do, it plays much better! Very fast, exciting and unique game.
A lot of discussion in retro game communities just centres on the same so-called top 10 or 20 classics for each console. The fact is that most people haven't explored the libraries very much. There are dozens if not hundreds of forgotten worthwhile games for SNES and MegaDrive. I enjoy discovering them a lot more than I do playing Super Metroid again.
Definitely nice to try some lesser known games.
@Greg'sGameRoom Silly bit of Trivia for you... PushOver here in the UK was actually a Promotional Game for Walkers QUAVERS snacks... One of Several "Advergames" they tried... For some reason teh Ant Character never took off, and instead we got a Dog next called "Colin Curley" who got two Quavers themed games!
Interesting! Was there advertising in the UK version of the game?
@@GregsGameRoom Kind of... LOL! Nothing direct, but they did promote the game with Quavers Adverts in Magazines and Media...
I had both Plok and Pushover... Plot was a fun way to pass the time (you throw your limbs at the enemy. Don't jump on them)... but pushover is still to this day one of my absolute favorite puzzle games. They need to bring that back.
Cybernator was one of my favorite games in the SNES, but I was never able to finish it. One of the side buttons activates a shield which is a key part of the gameplay, and makes you pretty much invisible from all sides except for the back, so you can hold it in place of all frontal attacking enemies (even if they drop bombs on you), and take no damage.
Greg. How could you not talk about Cybernators music on that stage, it's awesome!
Now go back and start jamming and then beat that end of level boss. Or 20 push ups. You choose.
Keep up the good work!
Run Saber is really good I played when I was younger.
Definitely cool
Fun video, definitely some gems I haven't seen before. A few years back Piko Interactive did a rerelease of Legend and included a speed setting in the options. I'm not sure if the original had that.
Great Video!
Thanks!
My friend owned Ultraman back when i was around 11 or 12. I would play anything back then and determined to beat everything. It took me awhile but i managed to beat it. I also owned cybernator. Found it prerty difficult till i learned you get a really good weapon by beating the first level in some specific way, maybe not taking damage? Then with it I could beat it.
In terms of Ultraman, we tended to play anything back then even if it was bad!
Cybernator is another game that is absolutely amazing once you learn how to play it. The shoulder buttons let you lock your gun into position and also block incoming attacks with a shield. Double tapping forward or pressing A lets you dash. I recommend focusing on powering up your machine gun first. The punch can be really awesome once it is fully powered but isn't too useful at first. Easily one of the best SNES games ever made.
I seen combatribes was on the screen. That a gem that’s highly forgotten. I’m glad I got my three carts of that game before it’s too late.
Yeah Combatribes is a good one.
Good list, I was not familar with most of these and I'm pretty savvy on these SNES games, all my friends say I know my SNES games. When I walk into a room, people go "wow, that guy know's his stuff"
2Unlimited did the music for Bio Metal, hence why it sounds exactly like that
I remember that Michael Jordan game being in every discount bin. That and Pit Fighter
The MJ game was okay.
For those that love the Ninja Warriors, you can get it on all modern platforms bar Xbox - PS4/5/Switch/PC and it's AWESOME. Slightly jazzed up version of the Snes game (graphics, frame rate and such).. One of my favourite games these past 5 years, I have double dipped on it, both Switch and now my PC laptop.
Ninja Warriors got a remaster for modern platforms last year and Cybernator is getting a cartridge re-release soon under its original name Assault Suit Valken. Both are among the best games for the system, definitely not forgotten.
Legend is really cool. There are a few things to understand about the controls though. Press and HOLD the button down to perform combos and press in the opposite direction to swing around and hit an opponent behind you. You also have a shield button which is extremely useful once you learn when the opponents are going to attack. The most important thing to know though is that the game actually does have infinite continues. You need to actually get past the first level though and it doesn't actually say "continue" on the title screen but choosing start absolutely does allow you to continue from the stage you died on.
I owned Plok and Uniracers as a kid and found then both to be super hard. I had rented Brawl Brothers and Power Instinct, not finding either of them to be particularly special. Also, thanks for all the ones I hadn't heard of or just haven't seen gameplay of before!
Choplifter III looks amazing. Having grown up with the Master System version, it was disappointing to learn we basically had access to the best version outside the arcade. I'm going to have to give Choplifter III a spin on my Everdrive.
Me and a friend, we actually beat Legend.
I was a huge Ultra Man fan when I was a kid and did rent the game. I didn’t get far with the 2 day rental. I definitely didn’t remember most of these games.
I remember seeing it on tv.
phantom 2040 was cartoon at the time as well
Ah, I have a vague memory of that…
Phantom 2040 was a pretty decent cartoon, I remember... reminded me a little of Aeon Flux with the look... but Saturday morning 😂
Never heard of Push Over but strategy-wise it reminds me of Lemmings.
I had magic boy for my computer and I ran it on dos. I've been looking for this game for a long time. It's really fun
I hadn’t heard of it before now
I loved Phantom 2040 but it was super difficult as a kid
I like the way you talk about these games (because I would have done the same thing).
Good job son, thank you
cool vid! that said; 2 things about "Brawl Brothers"= 1] the lag with the attacking? must be your emulator! I used to have a physical copy on an actual SNES console not long ago and the attacks would come out soon as I pressed the button! 2] here's a bit of help: you can actually keep attacking the enemies while they're on the floor. it definitely helps to avoid getting crowded!
Don’t think so. No other game is delayed like that.
I love SNES and there's definitely some hidden gems... When i first discovered console emulation back in '99, i randomly DL'd Ninjawarriors and Plok just to test out a SNES emulator i had... Ended up loving both games!💖
End game music made me yell Mortal Kombaaaat! out loud
I owned a Copy of The ninja Warriors for Snes when i was a kid and played it all the time. Think i got it used for like less than 10 bucks at a Gamexchange back in the day, now a loose cart goes for well over 200 bucks.
I'm having a hard time actually believing that "Michael Jordan" video game is actually real. I keep thinking that _has_ to be some unapproved homebrew...right?
It’s very real.
Throw enough money at someone and you’ll be amazed at what comes out! 😂
Brawl Brothers is great and I still like it today 😀 Enemy grab you is 0 problem, you can counter-grab them.
Cybernator, I still know the trick for a very OP weapon after Mission 1.
Ninja Warrior is great, had it also on my Amiga 2000 back then and it was way too hard, but the soundtrack was top notch.
Super DD was cool, but it felt too slow for me to enjoy it.
Played Choplifter on my Amiga 2k, but I have never seen everything else on this list ^^
re: Biometal US "The European and North American versions of BioMetal feature a soundtrack entirely created of remixed songs of techno group, 2 Unlimited from their 1991 album, Get Ready!. The Japanese version of the game features an entirely different soundtrack." it's unusual to feature a real band
I was a fan of Cybernator as well as the later Metal Warriors.
I’ll give that a go too.
@niveketihw1897 Metal Warriors has a fantastic multiplayer.
Phantom 2040 was an animated show (:
Much like the game, it really punched above its weight.
Would have thought if any 90's game was going to use 2 Unlimited music, it would be NBA Jam.
Exactly.
The music of Bio Metal is nice. It's like 90s Techno
Doesn’t really match the game.
I remembered only about 3 of these.
In Uniracers you need to change your orientation with the ground so that you land on your wheel. Successfully landed tricks give you speed boosts.
Your lack of holding L or R on Uniracers is why you don't like Uniracers. You need to swing that thing around to actually land stuff (plus you get a huge speed boost on straight ways by just doing the rolling flip jumps by holding L or R).
You know, I always forget those shoulder buttons even exist!

Biometal sounds like a 90s Orlando Magic game lol
“Pump up the volume!”
Wasn’t that second track the Mortal Kombat Movie Soundtrack?
Legend did in fact have continues.
0:54 saving grace blue balls...pause 😂
I always find it strange so many people hate on Legend. It's been on other gaming list videos saying it's bad. I personally loved it as a kid. I think that's what most of us forget about. Is the perspective of a child. I will say Warlock, even as a child, was an absolute abomination. I love these videos because I still somehow manage to find new games to play. I definitely recommend to anyone to buy an emulation handheld and just play every random game (including Japanese titles).
The red plane game I had as a kid, player 2 would have a blue plane and I’m sure they could join together to form a super plane briefly.
Ultraman! I had it on the PAL SNES, couldn't get past the fourth guy lol. Gotta try again nowadays.
Certain things need to be forgotten
Can’t argue with that.
I'd rate Plok in top 10 when it comes to the SNES. The gameplay is fun and challenging, the graphics are colourful and gorgeous and the music is seriously some of the best on the system. Oh, and the protagonist is really cute and cool too.
Not great like Mario but not terrible like Bubsy. So it’s not mentioned that often.
I remember Phantom 2040. I remember the cartoon. I also played Rampart fairly recently. Double Dragon series is legendary. My brother had the super scope so I rented Tin Star once. I liked the Terminator 2 game better. And Uniracers was a joy for those who could play it (thankfully emulation was coming soon) since Pixar sued DMA (the team behind the first Grand Theft Auto) for having an animated unicycle - yes, that was the entire reasoning, and the judge sided with Pixar because judges are not intelligent.
the snes was the golden era of beat em ups
The Ninjawarriors is one of my faves on the system. The plot is that there are three untested combat androids , activated by rebel Leader Mulk and released against the evil invaders of Bangalore, a dictator in a neighboring country with a penchant for robotics and genetic experiments.
I remember Realm from an issue of Nintendo Power. It was not well-received, but the art looked cool. Reminds me of Boogerman with a gun.
Super Souble Dragon was huge dissapointment for me. The music wasn't nearly as good as the previous three games and the action was SO slow. At least the moveset was cool.
Blue Balls .......I'm a child
Uniracers is super fun in 2 player
I had NO clue that Amazing Dog came from the Amazing Stories TV series.
I remember both since I'm old, but i had no clue of the connection.
Family Dog. ;-) Also it was directed by Brad Bird.
I love UNIRACERS.
Uniracers is really fun but judging from the gameplay you didn't seem to know what you were doing.
The game has raving tracks (performing stunt succesfully will make you go faster) but also stunt tracks (that pit in the last part of the video is one) where you have to earn points (68 points or more in this particalur case as mentioned in the bottom of the screen) by doing different stunts.
I can tell pretty quickly if I like a game or not. This one, no.
Not being a that-guy, but I do vaguely remember about 80% of these. Played maybe 40%.
Solely for statistical purposes, not flexing.
Biometal had the soundtrack changed for the western release to include songs from the band 2Unlimited. Not a sound that really suits shooters.
Agreed, it’s bizarre.
SNES library is so large that likely unsuccessful / 4gotten yet good games might b quite a lot 💡⛵⭐
You have a SHIELD on Cibernator. It's R, I think
Dang, I always forget about the shoulder buttons!
You should really try Choplifter 2 for the Gameboy (or it's port to the gamegear, Choplifter 3).
I was wondering where Choplifter 2 was!
@@GregsGameRoom I actually prefer it to 3 on Snes or Gameboy. The 3 on Gameboy uses a turn around button, whereas 2 uses a smart direction tapping control to turn around. It's for sure an 8/10 game.
actually i had brawl brothers as a kid i always thoughgt it was fun good list though
It looks good anyway…
yeah its fun enough and ninja warriors was great never beat eaither one but loved them the same @@GregsGameRoom
