  • This is a review of the 2015 ZERO Motorcycles SR, the top of the line model! It has the highest electronically limited top speed, best high speed handling, smoothest feel and most power. It rides like a mid size naked bike, but has a very soft overall suspension with plenty of travel. The cost is high but you get far more range from this one maxed out as the other models. If you are interested in it definitely try the rest of the line, you might change your mind.

    i got the 2014 Zero SR exact like yours and still commuting daily with it

  • @513eis
    @513eis 7 лет назад +3

    I’ve ridden my SR for two years and after 25000 miles... I’ve saved at least $380 month in commuting gas. That’s over $4500 a year. I don’t know how much more I’ve saved doing errands and such. ZERO maintenance except new tires. (No wear on brakes at all because all that energy went back into power). I can ride with my wife on the back to anywhere I’d care to go in one day for a day out for a picnic, hike, etc. I do like to go fast if the feeling is right but I don’t make a habit of it however, I blow away any HD without a sweat and keep up with anyone else. I could go on but Electric is the future. I’ll never go back to ICE.

      @TwoWheelObsession  7 лет назад +1

      Electric definitely has it's niche...but isn't close to replacing ICE for many things yet. A few days ago a buddy down the street and I went out for a nice 250 mile ride for a few hours and grabbed lunch. Not even remotely possible on electric.

    • @513eis
      @513eis 7 лет назад +1

      250 miles and lunch? No problem. Charge back up while eating lunch. I know... don’t want to schedule your ride around when to charge. You have a point but I didn’t intend to go that far when I got mine. I can ride sufficiently far at one time to make my but go numb.

      LOL yeah because any random restaurant will give you an extension cord and have an outside outlet for use ;) Come on man.

      And if your butt goes numb, you have a crappy seat. My bikes are allll day comfy.

    Great review. I am seriously considering getting one.

    As a fellow heavy and tall rider, I really appreciate your comments on the power, suspension, and comfort. I really like the idea of electric bikes for commuting and doing anything around town. The tech might not be there for long distances just yet, but I see current electric bikes as sort of an investment in the future of the idea.

    Fun vid! 5 years later I am looking at getting this exact bike used for about half the original MSRP. Apparently these batteries are good for at least 200k miles. If the dealer makes it easy it's starting to look like I'm gonna have a hard time saying no....
    Fyi would've loved to have seen the parking lot agility test tho!

    This is perfect for me since I lack the co-ordination required
    for shifting with my feet and clutching with my hands. I've been
    a cyclist for over 40 years and have always loved motorcycles but
    this is one hurdle that I just can't get over.

    Really good review thanks. Seems like overheating is the only real disadvantage with electric motorcycles

  • @jeffgraham9556

    You can adjust the shock preload to stop the braking dive. Once you do that, it's the bike ride you always hoped for.

    • @TwoWheelObsession
      @TwoWheelObsession  7 лет назад

      #1 you mean Fork. #2 pre-load has nothing to do with dive. That's controlled by the spring rate, oil viscosity and valving.

      What you're actually appreciating is the 60FPS recording more than the quality of the image (which is actually distorted optically speaking)

    I can't wait to see a touring bike from Zero. Probably would be a heavy bike for needing larger battery

      kelly j That's probably a good thing considering noise helps with safety

      Ricky Spanish but using noise for safety puts the responsibility on the car driver to notice you. I would recommend we all drive as if we are riding silent bikes.

    They have started making electric cars with artificial engine noise because pedestrians were getting struck by silent cars, I would be afraid of a bike that quiet.

    • @Valkyrie2246
      @Valkyrie2246 8 лет назад +2

      +Jimmy Baggs Why do they have to make noise? Pedestrians have to watch they are going all the time and avoid cars, trucks, and bicycles. Did you ever notice bicycles make no noise. They are supposed to be fitted with bells or another warning device. Electric bikes have horns, that's a warning device.

    • @jimmybaggs5342
      @jimmybaggs5342 8 лет назад

      +Valkyrie2246 Pedestrians were getting struck because they don't always look where they are going. I'd rather have a bike that makes noise and not crash because someone didn't hear me coming.

    • @Drag0ncl0ud
      @Drag0ncl0ud 8 лет назад

      +Jimmy Baggs Also blind people have to rely on on engine noise to know when to cross the street

  • @mekkler

    somebody is going to make an app to play engine noise in your headphones based on engine data, select-able Harley, Ninja, etc.

    so.......what's the actual cost of this bike ???

  • @m1aws

    Well, you are going to overheat riding like that in FL :)
