I throughly agree with Davids previous remark clone out the buoy being distracting but leave the Pole and Wires, Great video by the way, very professional, great viewing, Colin.
Lovely Vlog. I may have left the telegraph pole and wires, but I would of cloned out the buoy. I only recently subscribed to your channel….. loving it.
Thank you for subscribing - it is very much appreciated. I agree, the buoy definitely has to go. I hope you continue to tune in to this new channel and continue to enjoy it. Dean
I think I would leave the pole & lines in but the red buoy is just too distracting so I would either clone out or desaturate. Another good video. Thanks.
Great photos again, Dean! The first one is stunning: the red of the roof makes the cottage stand out; the surrounding greens and blues help accentuate this and make the background recede. The second and third photos are equally stunning. As for the telegraph lines and pole, I would keep them because the lines actually help guide the viewer's eye to the boathouse, as does the jetty. For me, removing the lines would only weaken this, making the jetty seem to lead the viewer's eye past the boathouse rather than towards it. Compositionally, I love them all. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Ed….thank you for watching and your comments. I agree with you that the lines of the wires do lead the eye in from the left and towards the boathouse and for that reason I think keeping them is my preferred option. Although the red buoy would have to go. Your comment is very much appreciated and I hope you continue to tube in for future episodes. Dean
@@deanallanphotography Yes, I completely agree with you, Dean. Removing the buoy would definitely strengthen the image. No matter how small it is, the buoy is red and distracting. Worse, it draws the viewer's attention away from the boathouse. Ed
What a beautiful location. At the wharf I actually like the telegraph pole and lines but the buoy is a distraction. After seeing both the photo choices I feel the second choice with no telegraph pole and wires feels a bit "empty"!
Just came across your video, beautiful locations and images and definately prefer the image minus the pole and lines gives it a more timeless feel. Stunning . Now subscribed . 👍
Hi Tanya…thank you for your comment and I'm glad you've found this channel and enjoyed this episode. I hope you continue to follow my journey through the Scottish Highlands…Much appreciated. Dean
Great location equally well captured Dean. Narrative and drone shots add new dimension. Processing has made pictures stand out. All in all nice visual journey. Thank you
I can’t believe I’ve only just discovered your channel Dean. Superb vlog in a fabulous area. I’ll be working through the rest of the vlogs now. At first, I would have kept the telegraph pole in for authenticity, but having seen the alternative , I prefer the shot without.
Hi…thank you so much for tuning in and I hope you to continue to watch my future videos. It is very much appreciated. I’m still undecided about the telegraph poles. One day I prefer them in and the next I like them out….
Great work, Dean. Yep, my eye keeps going to that red buoy . Looks better gone, as for the telegraph pole and lines, doesn't bother me, but looks better out . KB.
I like the red object, the telegraph pole and wires. It gives the picture some tension, and makes it less conventional. Although there is not much green in this photograph, in his paintings of landscape Constable would always have an accent of red to complement the green and give the painting some zing. That's why the red roof works so well in the landscape. Many thanks for your insights.
Thank you for your comment Rupert & thank you for watching this episode. I am not familiar with the work of Constable although I will now certainly read about this. I take a lot of my inspiration from Van Gogh….particularly on composition. Dean
Mmh, as you asked :-) A bit like yourself I think cloned or not would be dependent on my mood. Only thing with the cloning is the scaffold pipes between the pier stand out like a sore thumb, you could always,,, :-) I was hoping you'd go forward so the wires weren't cutting into the hill so good to see you did but I think I'd go a yard nearer to give a tad more separation so that's the one I'd go with that. Nice set though and as you say always worth being out with the camera in the country.
Thank you for your comment - much appreciated. Yeah the scaffold pipes do become more prominent with cloning but was hoping no-one saw it…..damn!! Well spotted and thank you for watching the episode…much appreciated.
Very enjoyable, the point about discovery really sunk in, nothing beats finding somewhere new and coming away with an image! (For that reason I no longer buy photo guide books). I’m not precious about a little editing, leave the post out. People have done far worse 😉
Thank you for watching Gary…..your support is always very much appreciated. I agree, the discovery of finding somewhere new is a constant driving force….Dean
Hi Andrey….thank you for your comment and I'm pleased you like the image. It is a very good question and yes I get a little vignetting on the 20-35mm lens at the 20-22mm focal length. On the smaller thread of my other lenses I use an adapter ring to use a larger magnetic filter which does remove the vignetting. Dean
Personally I feel cloning out permanent features is not keeping to the ethos of landscape photography ….. transient objects or stuff small enough to move by hand seems fine to me. Otherwise you are creating a false landscape. My rule of thumb is ‘if someone stood in my position would they see essentially the same scene as me ?’.
Fantastic scenes by that cabin 👍

Awesome work, thanks for share your journey.
Thanks for watching, it is very much appreciated.
Definitely prefer the final edit.

Dean, the locations are great. The vlogs are getting better. Leave the wires, clone the buoy😊
Thank you Allan….much appreciated. I agree - clone the buoy only..

Thank you for your comment. I agree with….no buoy but leave everything in.
Great video, I’ll need to get mine edited and posted from my couple of days there
Thank you for watching - much appreciated.
Loved this Dean, you do seem to manage to find some old stuff to rest on at your locations!!
Oh I didnt mind the wires and like you the Buoy wsa a little too much, maybe tone its saturation down.
These old bones I cart around need as much help as possible - so I always try to pick locations where I can have a sit down lol
Enjoyed your vlog Dean.
Thank you Peter, I'm so pleased you enjoyed it. Much appreciated.

I might have retained the pole and wires…but the red buoy had to go! Great images. Thanks for taking me along!
Good call! My thoughts as well. Pleased you enjoyed the video and hope you continue watching some of the upcoming ones as well….Dean
Well described and captured beautiful scenery. Thanks.

Yes, take them out.
I agree - thank you for commenting Randall….much appreciated.
Thanks for this episode! I like the images with pole and wires but I think I would remove the bouy. Both options look good however.
Thank you for your comment David. I agree, I think the bouy only for the clone tool.
@@deanallanphotography You're welcome!
I would have done exactly what you ended up showing us. The scene is reflective of 19th century... they have to go!

great first image. i am going to be cheeky and ask if you would let me know the location of the red roof house please, maybe private reply me
Leave the wires...remove the buoy
I agree 100%
Hi Dean, great photographs) I can see, that you use 82mm Kase filter for 20-35 lens. Do you have any vignetting on 20mm with it ? Thanks :)

@@deanallanphotography Thank you for the info, very helpful !
I agree that the pole and buoy distract, but I'd leave them. If I'm already shooting a man-made subject, I'd leave all man-made items.

That's a very good rule of thumb Steve. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment….it is very much appreciated.
Much prefer the image with no wires or telegraph poles! Just my opinion…I realize other people may disagree.
Thank you for your comment Anne…..I'm still undecided.
