Nice car. I love all Corvairs. You caught the problem just in time, could have been a disaster. Hopefully it's something simple like fuses for the gauges. It turned right over and sounds healthy 😏
Nice Corvair, but the turbo is not on there, so wondering if the owner got tired of that set-up and put in the single carb system as a replacement. Is that a motorcycle battery in place for a full-size auto battery? Give the spare tire a quick look to make sure its still good as the environment in the engine compartment is not good on tires. I guess next is a test drive video, maybe after fiddling with the gas gauge a bit. Love seeing a car without software-dependent systems, just mechanical and electromechanical gizmos.
I made the same mistake with the fuel hose on my '62 Willys Wagon. I used transmission oil cooler hose from the gas tank to the fuel pump and the gas disintegrated the hose and the rubber contaminated the carburetor.
I always thought Corvairs were cool! The styling of the 2nd generation hardtops were in my opinion one of the best GM styling efforts of the 1960s. But we are still waiting to hear about the engine choice for the "Bark"ley!! 🙂
All the fuel lines in the engine bay should be metal - that's the way GM built it. There's a lot of heat and fuel hose running over the engine is a bad idea.
My heart dropped when I saw the dual exhaust, I knew the turbo had left the chat.
A cousin of mine way back had a '66 Monza hard top. At the time, I thought it was the most beautiful car I'd ever seen. I still think so today.
Mark you are awesome at any speed! Nice fix!
I had a 65 Corvair Cosrsa 4 speed with 4 Carbs loved it.
Love that car...hope they allow you to make all the corrections it needs to return it to stock form.
Thanks so much!
Thanks for sharing, cool car!!
