The rocks in Montana are so gorgeous, and yes, I agree banded chert is not given enough love. It is, as another person mentioned, so much fun for those of us with physical challenges to get out in the field. Being able to “go there” with you and your family makes my day, over and over again. Thank you and blessed be.
Wow, that purple is spectacular, but believe it or not, the green jasper also took my breath away. I submit a request that you use your sculpting talent to shape that brilliantly green jasper!
That purple Agate is amazing! I also wanted to thank you for filming around Yellowstone while you're there. I'm mobility challenge, so I will never be able to go. So, I really appreciate being able to see the beauty of our national parks through your channel.
O U T S T A N D I N G THEO . It doesn't get any better than that . I too found a softer blue agate , lighter than yours . It's the shape of a pear , but the size of a medium egg , but perfectly cut in half . I was lucky to find it at all. I would love the opportunity to hunt on the Yellow Stone river for these beauties you'r finding . Recently I found another beauty , a Carnelian agate similar in shape but longer , and cut in half . It had betrothal bubbles and tiny Druzy everywhere .I gave it to my mom just before her last surgery , It serves many issues , but security and good health are the main reason . Second reason , is because it's the same surgery that killed her twice on the table . I gave it to her for support. And she came out of surgery without any issues. So the rocks and things we find on the river banks , and gravel bars , can actually assist in the healing process , and it promotes longevity amongst many other positive attributes Sorry about the book I wrote Theo lmao. Cheers my friend
My favorite color is purple also! So its obvious which is my favorite! But all of your finds were really awesome! That limb cast stole my heart as well, but the agatized wood on the yellowstone, has always been a show stopper! And round three of the makers challenge, is a great surprise! when you feature different channels and artisan rock hounds, you promote what we rock hounds can do with our prize finds and bring recognition to these other channels. Thank you for all youve done for rock hounds everywhere! You are amazing!
Thank you so much!😄 that seriously means a lot! Its always so much fun to see what everyone comes up with, the variety is always astounding and so much talent is on full display😄 this community is absolutely fantastic and filled with sooo many amazing people so im more than happy to do my part and spread the love and attention as much as i can😄 also absolutely agree! The green jasper or the limb cast would have been my favorites but that purple stole the show for me anyway😄 never seen one like it before! Thanks so much for watching!
What a great trip , your honey, you doggies and rocks. Does it get any better... well, a bit warmer with the sun out,not now I'm being picky. I loved all the jaspers best but that b e a u t I f u l purple one is a killer. I think I liked your reaction better that the stone. Keep the goodness coming. Be happy, safe and stay healthy 😷⚒
Wao,hamparan batu terbentang dilokasi. Banyak sekali batu yang indah ditemukan disana kawan. Pengen rasanya saya ingin mencari disana bersama anda. Good job my friend 👍
It was so very green! We find green jaspers every now and then but i couldnt believe the different shades of green in that one😄 im extremely excited to see that one with a polish
Wow! That area you were finding all those states and petrified wood is just stunning!! I could spend a whole week there just turning over every beautiful rock!! I think I might need to bring a sturdy garden wagon I could tow around a fill with rocks😁 Sometimes I see stones I want you to pick up so I can check them out, but there's no way of yelling," Hey what about that one over there!"😀 Nice collection though. I am in New Zealand, so little chance of coming there at the moment. Can you tell me the name of the place so I can read up about what has made all those beautiful rocks.?
Definitely know what you mean!😂 we may have ti do a rock hunt live stream sometime so i can let everyone pick the rocks that come home🤣 just need ti find a place that would have cell reception😅 and most of my river hunts are on the Yellowstone river in Montana here in the states😄 its a 600 mile long river that cuts through an enormous amount of different geologic exposures and is fed by yellowstone lake in yellowstone national park, which are big contributing factors for the variety that we find along the river😄 you really never know what you might find on the yellowstone!
I love love sugar love that purple agate!! Fantastic find, congratulations! I love the bright green aventurine & the green jasper too! Such a great day for you, Alexa & the 4 kiddos!
Yes i only know that they are mussels because i went down a rabbit hole a while back to figure out the species name; they are fatmucket freshwater mussels, and with a name like that they are hard to forget🤣 but they have amazing mother of pearl and take a phenomenal polish so i always get very excited every time i find those, really an unflattering name for such a pretty shell though😂
@@TheoKellison thanks for replying…I found “fatmucket”. Is is a hilarious name. I thought you referred to it as a fossil, and it isn’t…but I’m probably hearing things😁😁
I do love the purple agate, purple is my favorite color too...and the super green jasper is pretty awesome too. But I was really digging the yellow and green jasper in the slideshow as well as the the red jasper in the slideshow....bunch of good finds! Thanks for sharing!
That blue/ purple agate is amazing. Just stunning. You get some neat petrified wood where you are and banded chert is neat to find buy kinda rare where i am. Some of your finds just blow my mind sir. Thank you for taking the time to make this video Theo.
Wow such awesome finds. I too love banded chert. Here I find gray/black and brown/ tan. I have 1 that is black/gray that looks like glass. It is my favorite piece. I wish I could find green jasper. So beautiful. I hope I am able to get out this year and do some rockhounding. Couldn't do much last year do to physical health issues. Not gonna let it hold me back this year. Just loved every bit of this video. That purple agate is so spectacular. Purple is my favorite color too. Thanks for sharing.
Oh. You have succeeded in making me very homesick. I used to come home from a weekend in the Rockies around Helena with my pockets full of rocks. Lost in Kansas now and missing the rocks. 💕
What a great find...along with the other stuff. As pretty a purple agate as I've ever seen and I've got some great Or. and Nv. purple agates. Envious of that one though!
Yeah most of the time when you find/have such a beautiful stone, you should just leave it as it is, and trust me I know how hard it is not to mess with beautiful stones and just leave them alone
Wow Theo! The purple agate is amazing, and that’s some of the prettiest petrified wood I’ve seen! Fantastic agates and gorgeous Jaspers! Can’t help but wonder if you will use one of these beautiful finds in the makers challenge!! Hi to Alexis, nice finds!!😄
This is the kind of place where I would bring a folding chair, sit down and really look at the rocks surrounding me. Beats wandering aimlessly and I tend to find a lot I really would have missed. Plus my knees are shot. Getting new ones this spring.
Dude!!!, “smaller than my thumb” your a friken giant so…. I can’t wait to see what you facet with it. Had to add to my post. Score. So many favorites. Just wow. 🤩
That is at least a $300 dollar Agate/Chalcedony you have there. Definitely something special, I wish I had buckets of those. I say $300 because of the fact that it is from Montana. Normally a piece that size of the same colors is maybe $30-$50 dollars, but that is very rare for where it came from. You could make a gold/silver necklace and get maybe 5 flawless cabochons out of that and give it to Alexis as a gift.
I love your blue rock so much I think you should make cabochon and maching earrings. I'm going now gotta get back to your video don't want to mess anything. Thanks Ray 😊

That purple might be a corundum (sapphire). You should have a gemologist look at it. Love it!
Theo, nice finds. I'm pretty sure that "purple/lavender" stone is probably an Amethyst. Some of this quartz var. can have the gorgeous pinkish hues as you roll in your fingers. As a facetor, that is a wonderful trait for this material.
Also, I saw your video from 2020 about making "doublets" from those great shell and thin fossilized materials; mounting them on sandstone backers. Nice! Really nice!
However, I have a couple of suggestions when gluing the above with epoxy. First, the bubbles can also be popped spritzing with Acetone , or you could place the epoxied pieces in a small vacuum chamber until they all pop. Doesn't take long! And secondly, but more importantly, you can cure epoxies with a dedicated toaster oven. I have a couple of Hamilton Beach convection ovens for this purpose. Do not use these for food afterwards! The formula for curing Epoxy is 140-150F (60-65C) for ten (10 min). First load them in the cool oven; bring to temp; bake for the allotted time; then allow the oven to cool down to body temp before removing from oven. Use an in oven scale. Total curing time, no more than 90 min.
And another hint; if you want to remove a piece attached with CA; place it in a Freezer for an hour, then bump or jar it, allowing the CA to release the stone. Another note is that CA doesn't like moisture! It weakens the bond. So I use fingernail polish over the joint. Devcon, or similar 5-min Epoxy works just as well. Acetone is also your best friend when softening and dissolving CA, and Epoxy.
just wow.
