- David Lynch Theater Presents: Do You Have a Question for David? Part 1
Please note: Electrical interference is on audio track at times.
Masks were worn and social distancing was maintained at all times. 👍
Thank you for watching!
I love how Mr. Lynch repeats every question before answer them
This shows how he really tries to understand and get to the bottom of the question
He even repeats the names of who asked it and refers to them by their username almost as if he's directly talking to them; It's so lovely.
Arhum yeah that’s what really gets me. The dude has no discernible ego.
good because I can barely hear what sabrina is saying
It's for YOU, the audience. The producer probably told him to repeat the question since the audio is only recording his voice.

You're so kind for this
Thank you! 🤗
I’d hoped for this, thank you kindly
its so kind, thank you man
I love that he put his suit on to answer our questions.
"Our questions" xD
@Vetril Dease what?
He’s a professional
He is a perpetual lesson in the art of respect to self and others.
i think that suit is the only thing in his wardrobe. that and the black button up which he also wears with the suit
"Electrical interference is on audio track sometimes"
*people who have watched Twin Peaks starts digging*
This is the only channel where reading that would cause you to ask "is that intentional, or...?"
HAHAHAHAHHAA YES
also 360p video from a freaking hollywood FILM DIRECTOR, and his longtime producer is the lady reading the questions!? I smell creative intent

*"If a person forgets an idea that they love, it's a horror, and it can lead to a real yearning to commit suicide." ~David Lynch*
Explaining my life in one sentence better than 20 years of therapy, lol.
Did you notice how, after he answered, the woman behind the camera just paused like “woah”... 😂 No offence to you - hope you’re ok xx
Same 😃
What is timecode?
no i get that, i wouldn't get quite that depressed, but as an artist it can be real sad, especially if you know it's a really good one, and i feel like a dream, some of the most best ones are almost out of reach like that.
Every day is a struggle to remember what I love
Still has the great hair.
His hair gets better with time
The best
Yeah
It really is fantastic
Yes!!!
I love how he doesn't edit the quiet moments, he just sits in silence waiting for the next question, what a great guy
He dresses up for it.
Agreed :) The silence between it all contains an important essence of tension,...wonder. Calm before the next storm,... or within the Eye of an otherwise turbulent time(s)
@@nsjx And he knows it and works it.
"What a great guy" - yk that he's compulsive liar right?
When David Lynch talks, the world slows down.
What else the world would do anyway ?
Listening to him is like meditation to me , it just make my day bright and beautiful , i can enjoy every second of the day
I have this quote on my desktop from David: “I don't know why people expect art to make sense. They accept the fact that life doesn't make sense.” I just want to see more of him. He's unique.
Non artist types need everything to be a certain way it's a control issue too I think.
Good quote - and true as the day is golden bright baby laughs spidering out across the stars of her hearts mind. (Get it) (its art)
@@AnnaLVajda unfortunately not very many people, from what I understand do not view art properly. If they did all would be Wei Wu Wei and amorphous, devoid of clinging to the conceptual a little more. As - it - is. well if you dont want much it can be enough...
BarbART 5hrs a week of a menial job in 2020? That’s gonna be about 300-500 USD a month. Nobody can live off of that.
tbf he was living in a shed on the set of eraserhead at the time
@@glycolictonic - That's why he needed FIVE YEARS to make it, our guy never worked for real!
Reminder that he wasn’t just supporting himself, but that he had a wife and a kid during this time too. Which makes it even more nuts. I really lost the generational lottery not being a boomer.
Wow! David answered my question, I’m so happy!
Congrats, dude!!! Bet you're celebrating tonight, big time! 😀😀
bo derrick hell yeah! I was so shocked and happy that my question was picked and David gave a very thorough answer, I downloaded the video onto my computer, I’ll cherish that forever 😊
@@akajkyt that is awesome man.
Keep David's words with you and be inspired by them.
@@jeanpaulmichell7243 I certainly will!
Where did you ask the questions?
"It's not about pride, it's the enjoyment of the work" such a good point.
I'm glad I asked him that question just to hear that. So true.
That's especially encouraging to me right now ☺️
I LOVE HIM SO MUCH IT HURTS
Petition to replace the Hollywood sign with ‘PROJECT’ and ‘EXPERIMENT’ billboards

I'm so happy he's heard Cigarettes After Sex. The first time I heard this band, I felt they should've been one of the band's in The Return.
This is my first time hearing about them and they are great
I was thinking the same thing. I wonder what other bands we both listen to.
First time I ever heard them I was skating down this long path as it was getting dark out and it was the most peaceful moments I can remember
Would have been perfect at The Roadhouse
i remember going to their show in austin alone when i was 15 and heartbroken, it was truly an atmosphere all in its own league.
"If a person forgets an idea that they love, it's a horror and it could lead to a real yearning to commit suicide"-David Lynch
It really sucks to forget something like that, even if it's just a sentence or two for a story.
Yeah but the real problems comes when you start getting ideas for music. I’m not imaginative enough to describe music in words enough for it to come back “in full”.
We need to crowdfund a big sign with the word "PROJECT" on it and send it to David
It warms my heart that david has a favorite string
“Very rarely have dreams impacted my work.” -David Lynch, 2020
Which is interesting since so much work uses dreams as a theme or storytelling device.
broke: getting story ideas from dreams
woke: getting story ideas from transcendental meditation
In my experience it's my conscious thoughts that influence my dreams
Interesting. I like that!
I wish I could say the same for me.
The inadvertent sound interference makes this the Lynchiast of Lynchian interviews!
“What sound brings you the most joy?” David: Sound brings me the most joy
My answer would have been when the microwaved dinged... glad he came up with something more eloquent
David may have mentioned that when he was in Philadelphia he enjoyed the sound of train whistles. I live a mile from the SEPTA tracks. The whistles are a welcome sound, soothing, almost mysterious.
How in the hell can one man be so simple and so complex at the exact same time?
Love you, Mr. Lynch!
I'm afraid of losing you, I get really sad when I think about it
and I feel embarrassed to even think about it, I'm sorry
It's okay. When I first saw him in the video I thought 'damn he's so old now' and I was dismayed at the thought of losing Lynch, which will happen sooner or later.
I can scarcely imagine a world without him and his brilliant ideas.
in heaven everything is fine
Massive, massive legacy!
It's okay he's only 74 and smokes

David Lynch seems always to be "just in this moment". He is so full of awareness, you can feel the electricity in the air around him. :D

Nice to see Sabrina Sutherland too!!!
God I love him. Twin Peaks is the oddest most beautiful thing TV has seen. This question may have been asked. Will there be more of Twin Peaks?
It is like a meditation. Calms you down.
I thought I'd only listen to a minute or two. But I couldn't stop listening.
He kinda reminds me of Bukowski, the slow, soothing voice is very comforting to listen to
That occasional interference noise is likely a cell phone coming through David's mic. (Maybe his, maybe Sabrina's?)
This is indeed the case. Smart! :)

I want to live in a Lynchian afterlife🐰
It's funny, I've lived in a Lynchian world all my life, and when I discovered his films.... It all makes sense.
After all, the owls are not what they seem.
More I watch David talk, more I realize he could be my only/true friend.
“I wanted to see paintings move.” Yes.
I love this man.
This is amazing. I hope there are many of these. It's an invaluable record of the thoughts of one of the greatest artist of all time. It's important. Only suggestion is where possible don't ask him questions he had already gone over before.
I love David Lynch, he's just so wholesome person. He brings me back faith in this world. There is so much content in this video that I definetely should rewatch it later, there's so much to think of.
This interview highlights a most unpleasant reality. This man is waving to us as we pass by like zombies locked in cattle cars. Time to wake up.
Someone needs to get David a billboard that says "Project" for his birthday
I agree with the transition thing. This is absolute truth. It's so great to have David Lynch in this world. Bless you!
I love to hear you speaking so candidly, david!
There's something about weather that gets the attention of something primal within most folks.
I would think it probably stems from eons of ancestors chatting around campfires, or struggling against the weather to start a campfire.
David is a GREAT man..
i will start considering transcendental meditation now...thanks, David!
Thank you, mr. Lynch. Have a great day and greetings from Spain
Noticed the „electrical interference“ and expected discourse about this in the comments.
Safe to say, I was not disappointed.
I think, when people start to consider the meaning of an error, a slip-up, an interference, and not just being put off by it or see it as some thing that interferes, they are beginning to find meaning in the erroneous and it opens the mind to a more complete view of the world. The error is part of the experiment and by improvising around it and even incorporating the fault into the work it will spark new ideas.
Wonderful!
:DDDD

"These bleak times are necessary to go through in order to get to a much, much, much better place." ... so perfect.
This is the philosophy I've noted in much of David's work. There's no light without the dark.
The sound of the interference that happens at 20:18 while you are discussing sound brings me huge joy. I’d swear that you talking about sound with such passion made that happen :) Thank you for doing this video. Looking forward to more.
