- Recently, I had the very exciting opportunity to interview one of the most interesting filmmakers of the last 50 years, David Lynch. Mr. Lynch has thrice been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director for his films THE ELEPHANT MAN, BLUE VELVET, and MULHOLLAND DRIVE, in addition to receiving an Academy Honorary Award. He is perhaps best known to others as the creator of the famous TV series, TWIN PEAKS. We were able to talk about his movies, art, music, transcendental meditation, and much more. I will attach two websites for information and background on Mr. Lynch and his work with his foundation.

I would like to say that I am extremely thankful to Mr. Lynch and his assistant for making this possible. I hope this encourages people to submit to the Literary Magazine this semester!

“Hi mr lynch, how have you been?”
“You can expand your consciousness and enter another realm of spirituality.”
That escalated quickly. Great interview
The fact David Lynch, having achieved the highest form of his self, agrees to talk with people who are aspiring artists. Even in old age, he is not selfish.
Thats what great artists do! the man loves art, cinema, photography, etc , art is made by humans for humans, and he loves humans and their ideas, as he loves his own ideas. When you love art you want to share it, talk about it, talk about your art, their art, ideas, and the process everyone of us goes trough when catching those ideas from our brains. DL to me is one of the most true artist alive right now, a gem, like that cool intelligent grandpa who teachs you things out of love. We should enjoy this man right now that is alive.
Man, Toby is really bright for a 16 year old. Loved that interview!
Yeah, and what a privilege being 'interviewed' by David Lynch. Man! I'm still speechless. Lynch has turned his interview into a small talk. (and I'm watching it for the second time). I completely loved it.
David is so positive, cannot believe him. I wish I could talk to him directly and meet my mom 😩😍
What a privilege this chit-chat with him. Lynch is the best! He's eternal love and wisdom, from another dimension to ours.
Twin Peaks forever!!!
I love how in his films he looks at every detail and when he's video calling the light source is behind him
I think I've said it hundreds, perhaps thousands of times, but it's nowhere near enough: I love David Lynch. What a top bloke.
oh you brit
if david lynch asked me a question at all i would freak out. i feel like David Lynch is a parental figure anyone and everyone could use.
When people talk about Lynch, they don’t talk enough about what a nice guy he is. Friendly dude letting the kid interview him, not condescending, etc.
I just envy this man having lived out his passions so effectively. I get vicarious satisfaction from it.
Young people are less afraid to ask real questions which is why stuff like this makes much better interviews than anything else. Thank you Toby for doing such a great job and well done on getting Lynch to sit down with you for such a duration of time, insane boldness
I'm one of those who watch his weather reports daily. It's super cool and 'still' at the same time.
fastest 41 minutes of my life! thank you for uploading this video!
Toby what a lovely interview! Thank you! David Lynch is so very special to so many people. I'm 49 and have loved him dearly since I was 14! He's a wonderful human being. An incredible artist and filmmaker. The kindest soul. He's a true earthly guru.
I'm happy living in David Lynch's timeline (?), absorbing abstract thoughts, films, whatnot...
Isolation is okay with me... peace ✌️ and quiet wonderful for being creative 💝 I'm totally in agreement with David Lynch statement on the positive side of isolation.
Thank you for this interview. I loved watching and listening to it.
Thank you guys for this great interview, actually asking questions that haven't already been answered a million times, really interesting stuff :)
Thank you very much Toby for conduting this interview together with your English teacher! You've done an amazing job, keep it up! And David is as always is such a gentelman and very down to earth, he's a true gem that keeps shining in this not perfect but beautiful world!
I notice there's a real gentleness to Davids manner.....
What a beautiful talk, Toby !
Thank you very much !
You have waken up some special things...
Wish you the very best with music !
Love
Also came from Patricianposting. Good job on the interview!!

Wow. Holy moly, this man is so smart. Thanks for posting this, it has to be one of the best things on RUclips.
This was just wonderful, thank you 🕉🙏🏼
I love this. Thank you x
Congrats on getting this interview. I just posted about it and I'm sure this interview will be shared everywhere fairly soon.
Great interview, well done Toby. I'm fairly sure I was still playing with Ninja Turtles when I was 16. Also, cool teacher
This was such a sweet thing
Great job, Toby! I want to hear some of your cello music
Great interview!!!!!!
Great!!!
Glad to hear he's using the lockdown to explore creative endeavors. Also, Wisteria - how exciting is this?!
wow this is really great
also from patricianposting. cool & good interview (Y)
Damn, that monologue about TM was absolutely amazing, truly. I've been searching for a meditation technique for a while, but was for one reason or another weirded out by TM. After that, though, I understand that it wouldn't hurt to try, would it.
I switched three days ago to TM. Mind blown.. Search for mantras by age 👍
If I may ask how do you get into TM and where exactly did you start?
I dream of a continuation of Twin Peaks Mr Lynch
David is such a legend!
I must say
I felt that the start of the interview was very Lynchian.
I love David Lynch.
Great stuff 👍🏿
I'd like to share another thought here. I wrote to one of our viewers that "What a privilege being 'interviewed' by David Lynch. Man! I'm still speechless. Lynch has turned his interview into small talk. (and I'm watching it for the second time). I completely loved it.
May at the end was super too.
May or Mae?
@@anyonelikeu I'm not sure about the spelling, I'm just guessing.
Mae was a name i always wanted to name a child. So I thought that it vwry sweet. That her name was May! :D 💜
@@anyonelikeu I think you are right, actually. And I agree, it's a really sweet name.
I hope you achieve your dream.
@@janakicavalcante maybe one day. Getting close to that age now it is becoming less and less possible. : D but thank you for your sweet thoughts! ❤🌈🌟
Legend
Twin Peaks was not cable television. It was broadcast, baby. Big difference. Groundbreaking that something like TP was broadcast. Free to anyone with an TV and antenna.
"This banjo would look nice on your wall....."
Came from Patricianposting

10:32 wholesome David laugh

David Lynch deep into transcendental meditation
Good job, champ. That's short for champion.
👏👏👏
You got a good future, Champ. That's short for champion.
Well played, sir. Well played.
✌️❤️
Lynch is the man
how did you get the opportunity to interwiew
The "Jumping Man" will rise....
How's the situation in the usa?? In few words, when David can come back to film a movie?
The situation still isn't good, but they could have everyone involved test regularly like some film crews are doing
In like five months? The vaccine is getting released in January for elderly and other folks.
Kertified Kino
every highschooler watching this rn wants to be toby
I can attest that chronic depression destroys your creativity. The people that make movies, or write books, about depression and suicide aren’t depressed; not at that time, anyway; if they were they wouldn’t have the energy to make anything, and wouldn’t care whether they did or not.
funny how David Lynch covers his camera. I would do the same if I was famous tbh.
Haha paranoia man! Lol "is a disease unto itself.... and may I add? That the person standing next to you, may not be who they appear to be. ! " hahah i cover mine too but its all in my head. :)
Kristen Has a New Rainbow Trout and Mug! Woohoo! Hahaha I lied. I actually cover my camera since I watched a couple of seasons of Mr Robot
@@salamela haha. Well I come from the early years of the net. However. I doubt my life is interesting enough for someone to sit and watch me all the time. Besides. What about the camera on your cell phone or the microphones!? The list could go on. And then we become a paranoid mess! ;) Hahaha
Edit- early years meaning we had external webcams or none at all. And also microphones were external as well. Separate even from one another. Next they became integrated. But still external with minor interest in being pre installed on comps. Most people did not have computers in their homes at this point. Or even schools for that matter! So yeah that's what I mean. I was privileged! My father was and is an incredible engineer. Awesome video! Truly awesome!
Btw I loved that show!!!! Mr. Robot!
Kristen Has a New Rainbow Trout and Mug! Woohoo! Ayyy same x2
I'm not a film buff, Toby...😉♥️
9 comments here now, boys...you are about to have a VERY interesting day.
lucky kids
Van Gogh - if ever there was a person who needed meditation the most it would be him.
