Yeah, if's brilliant... it sounds like something clint eastwood might hiss at the start of a showdown... ! The writing in this scene is so tight, not a wasted word or beat -- just tight. And Lynch nails it. I honestly think Louie is struggling a little to keep up, to match Lynch's total committment to the bit.

This scene makes me cringe every time. It is fantastic. The anxiety, the frustration, the pressure, the block he is experiencing. And then that....verbal diarrhea that came out when he tried. How that entire industry just wasn't like him at all, even though it is about entertainment and making people laugh which is what he does for a living. I love this show, I hope it comes back soon.
Stand up comedians find a niche. Late night host appeal to the lowest common denominator. They need a massive audience to be successful. Look at Jimmy Fallon, he has a massive audience of idiots and morons but is the least funny of all late night hosts. Louis C.K. appeals to a different audience; you're right, his comedy is meaningful and hilarious but it doesn't appeal to as many people.
This is what everyone imagines David Lynch is like in real life after watching movies like Eraserhead, but in reality he's smarter, quirkier and more smiley.
m I o . o I m Probably is most of the time, though I saw some footage of him verbally cuffing a young worker on his set who must have been screwing off. This exchange happened in his sternest and coldest voice. "Hey! You! What's the matter with you?" "I'm just --" "On drugs!? You on drugs?" "No, I don't use---" "Stay off the drugs! And work when you're here! Alright?" "A-Alright..." Like his movies, there is warmth, but there is darkness too.
Louie has said in an interview that he specifically wanted Lynch to do everything exactly like he would normally and not "act a character", so this is pretty much what he's actually like. The difference with real life is ofc that Lynch is never artificially put in a position to look like an asshole the way he comes off here. That being said his actors love him, but even they would admit that he's made them extremely frustrated on occasion. Watts has even cried on set several times. Though I really don't know how can you take him too seriously considering he's always shouting through a megaphone lol
Every line in this scene is better than the last. As great as David was a filmmaker (and, uh, he’s possibly the greatest American filmmaker ever), he’s equally at adept on the other side of the lens. Fuck. I miss him so much already.

Lynch was one of those rare Hollywooders whose passing actually stirs some sadness in me - wish I could have had a good cup of joe with that guy. P.S. I don't care what anyone says, his Dune is still the best.
Why, for all this years I've seen this clip, it's just David Lynch saying the word "FUNNY" what fries me? "That's short for champion" it's so goddamn good.
My favorite scene in the return has to be him talking to Lucy over the phone and he just sits their baffled at Lucy's cluelessness. After she mentions her trip to Bora Bora, he just sits their with this expression on his face that just radiates "Is this woman for real?".
My dad is a huge David Lynch fan, and couldn't stop laughing throughout the whole clip. And the music is a homage to twin peaks- I bet Lynch directed the episodes he was in.
What I love about Louie putting David Lynch in his series is this... I was a fan of David Lynch's work. Just a few movies but I never knew how he looked. And then I seen this and I didn't know it was him for several years. And then once I seen David Lynch's face I realized, "Oh. wait. He was in Louie." I like the fact that I didn't know at first. Cause there's nothing people like more than a heckler, especially an unoriginal heckler
Hamsaphina but a lot like Heckler&Koch
Wouldn't work better as a heckle than any other heckle. The reason it works so well here is because it isn't a heckle. Jack Dall is brilliantly humorless, and is asking it totally deadpan.
Lynch was one of those rare Hollywooders whose passing actually stirs some sadness in me - wish I could have had a good cup of joe with that guy. P.S. I don't care what anyone says, his Dune is still the best.
This is one of the most brilliant shows I've ever seen
Why, for all this years I've seen this clip, it's just David Lynch saying the word "FUNNY" what fries me?
"That's short for champion" it's so goddamn good.
Had to watch this after getting the news today. RIP to one of the greats.
By the way -last night I had another Monica Belluchi dream.
Rickard Zingmark thank you for this comment
Bellucci, please
My favorite scene in the return has to be him talking to Lucy over the phone and he just sits their baffled at Lucy's cluelessness. After she mentions her trip to Bora Bora, he just sits their with this expression on his face that just radiates "Is this woman for real?".
@@tatehildyard5332 ok
my socks are on fire...
Made it a good surprise.
My god this is brutal lol this clip needs to be shown to all children to prepare them for how adult life is going to be 😂😂😂
Adult life: A series of humiliations and crushed dreams. Then you do something stupid which people for some reason like, so you keep on doing it.
Still doesn’t really get it across because DL is too enjoyable of a presence. I would honestly pay to have him talk to me like this. Even if he is verbally castrating me.
Hadn't thought of that before, but...yeah.
@@michaelm3691 i like that
I’m in Showbiz. It’s worse than this
