    Bill dug his own grave when he hired defensive guys to run the offense last year and didn't upgrade the roster on that side of the ball. As a Patriot fan I will never forget what he did for this franchise but sometimes a clean break is the best thing for everyone involved.

      They do that in the league all the time. The chargers former HC Brandon Staley is a former QB and all of a sudden he is a defensive specialist? Circle back to The Pats, you really believe Matt Patricia ever deserved a HC job? He was listed as the defensive coordinator ON BILL BELICHICKS STAFF. Do you for a second believe Matt Patricia called a single play on defense when Bill Belichick really is a defensive guru? So, again, teams do that all the time, bring guys in because of personal relationships, they fill in the staff voids. Have nothing to do with the xs and os

    I’m 72 so I’ve been watching Boston sports for a few years. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing when the Bruins could not come to some agreement with Bobby Orr, the greatest defensive player of that era and arguably of all time and let him go to play with the Chicago Blackhawks. There are others in between but these are the one that stand out. And than the Patriots could not come to some agreement to keep him in New England, after all he did for the Patriots Craft should have literally given him whatever he wanted and now we have this and again they can not come to some agreement to keep Belichick in New England because like Brady he should have been offered anything he wanted, he should have retired from New England because it will be more than strange to see him on the sideline coaching another team, it will be heartbreaking.

      What more could he have been offered? He had complete control of the team and a massive contract. What did he do with that complete control? If you think you're a few key pieces and a couple of years away from being contenders, is Belichick the guy you trust to find those pieces AND stick around long enough to develop them?

He ran Brady out of town 4 years ago thinking he could bring in any QB and keep on winning and it blew up in his face while Tom went and won a SB in Tampa. I think having Brady, covered up many of the mistakes Bill made.. plus, we’ll never know about the “what could have beens” that Bill missed because he was too busy developing game plan.. back in the 80’s, I worked in the front office for the Niners (just a dude in the trenches), the GM and staff were always working the phones, talking g with the other GMs.. it was literally non stop… they knew everything about every team….

    Bill has been one of the worst GMs in recent NFL history, however he's proven over the past 3yrs that he's still a solid head-coach &an excellent defensive coach. The talent on the Patriots is bottom five in the league &has been for the past few years. The Pats won 8 games last year that was all Bill Belichick. Bill won 10 games in 2021 that team had no business wining double digit games that was the most impressive coaching job of his career in my opinion just don't let him pick the players &you'll win games

Imagine the Rams DC, leaving for a headcoaching job and Bill becomes McVays new DC? McVay has to do all the work, while Bill shows up gets treated like the GOAT and gets to scheme for Aaron Donald to destroy guys. No extra BS that would come with being headcoach.

    Belichick just might be a little too old school in a sense, him being the coach AND GM there sunk that team, he's too stubborn and smug for his own good now that he doesn't have the greatest QB to ever play on his team.... I feel like he clashes with most players in today's league and society....

    • @williamcarr3976
      @williamcarr3976 10 месяцев назад

      That’s because players (and people in general) don’t want discipline, something the greatest coaches instilled in their players.
      Look at some of these teams that get boneheaded pentalties one after another, or screw up the position assignments, that’s lack of discipline.
      Players don’t want disciplined teams? Fine.
      Don’t expect to win football games.

    • @williamcarr3976
      @williamcarr3976 10 месяцев назад

      Troy Aikman retired early because they didn’t have a coach that instilled dcipline in the team.
      I’ve managed people before, it’s like herding cats.
      Getting a group of people to do what they are supposed to, when they are supposed to, is very difficult, and things aren’t getting any better.
      You said it yourself, it’s society.
      People want instant gratification and don’t want to put the work in, that’s required, to have the greatest success. That requires discipline and many lack it.

    Afew coaches change the game for all that come after them. Landry, Ryan, and this week Carrol and Belichick. Great palyer don't get to be great players without coaches building a great supporting staff. You can say what you like about Brady being GOAT but without Belichick building a decent D and players on O he's just another qb. I think like Carrol they changes everything so much that when the game cough up with them they were to set in their ways to understand the changes needed. Even if he moves on I doubt he will be more thn moderately successful

    Pats should not go after Vabel as good as he is he is just Bill version 2.0 they need to go with someone with a different more modern take on offense like Ben Johnson of the Lions. Look at what the Cowboys did after Tom Landry they didn't go with someone associated Landry and the "Cowboy way" they went to the college ranks and got Jimmy Johnson who won two Super bowls and put together a 3rd one.
