When I did a trade for an FP Journe, I did my usual search for reviews, articles and videos and for some reason did not come across this video until now. This is a great overview of all the various Souverain’s and it has helped reinforce that I made the right decision on the trade. Thank you for the overview!
I’m still thrilled to have my FPJ CS in platinum exactly like yours, and I have you to thank for introducing me to the brand at time I could acquire a like new example at a significant discount. Thanks again Bill. 🥂
Glad to hear it Jeffrey! What year is your's? Mine is from 2007 and is ready for another service ... running slow. I'm going to ask for a new hairspring because it appears that mine is getting magnetized a bit too much. Take care, Bill
@@watchartsci Hi Bill. Mine is 2014. I acquired it in December, 2019 shortly before the pandemic hit. Ive seen you describe issues with magnetization in other videos. Mine hasn’t been affected by magnetism at all- not a single time. Perhaps they made some change to the movement prior to 2014? Or maybe I’m just lucky. But in any event thanks again Bill for your introduction to FPJ. I got mine just in the nick of time.
@@jeffreyblue627 I think there may have been improvement in the Nivarox hairsprings they use. My FPJ Chronomètre Resonance that sits right next to my Chronomètre Souvrain in my watch case has never had a problem Indeed you did get your FPJ just in the nick of time...not a second too soon! Take care, Bill
Very interesting video Bill. It's amazing how many models of one watch they make, as well as all of the different materials they use. Fascinating! Best regards, Brian
Thanks Brian. A lot of people are lamenting the fact that they didn't get a CS when they were around 20k. However, I'm watching Parmigiani prices go up, but there are some Metrographes left at great prices. In a couple of years, they'll be lamenting they didn't get a Metrographe, "when they had those really great prices" ... give a watch collector a gun, and he'll shoot himself in the foot. Take care, Bill
@@watchartsci Thanks to you I'm not going to be one of the people doing the lamenting. I'm now closing in on a Parmigiani Kalpa XL Hebdomaire, black dial on that beautiful Parmigiani bracelet. I'm going to try to seal the deal tomorrow. Regards, Brian
@@xpdchief7698 One of their most expensive watches is the Parmigiani Ovale Pantograph ... a dream watch. Even reduced to a mere $40,000 I still cannot afford one. However, they too have the great Hebdomaire movement that you're getting in your noire Kalpa. Take care, bill
One of my top favourite watch brands Bill. I didn’t know that they made a green one! Maybe now it would be blue or green as my choice! Many thanks Bill. 🙏
They only made 99 of the green ones, and when they were announced in Dubai, they sold out the same day. Not only do I like green, I like that color of green. Take care, Bill
Great video, although like many others I’m late to the game and these are tough to get at retail at the boutique. I’m not comfortable buying second hand.
Great video. For me and many others I suspect that ship has sailed. The good news is that there are other cheaper watches out there that are fantastic horology, although cheap is probably not an appropriate term. My personal favourite is Laurent Ferrier, something about the purity of the design that appeals to me.
Hi Paul, yes, and it's a shame that the SS-FBJ has sailed is into the far horizons disappearing from sight. Who knows, though? Things change. Take care, Bill
Hi Bill, a little off-topic, but what are your thoughts on Speake-Marin? I was trying on their “Ripples” and it really felt great, but wanted to hear your viewpoint. Thanks
Love the CS. I think it was good marketing to label all these versions as CS since they shared the 1304 movement rather than individual names. Hence the Bleu raised the tide for all the others by association. Maybe something to consider for future Lyrique watches where the 6801 movement is used. I like the story behind the holland.
Yes, Owen, I was thinking the same thing. The Étude series with numbers and names ... like Étude N° 3, Guilloché ... with the same movement and case. Take care, Bill
Hey Bill, I don't have to tell you that this is a very nice watch. I've always liked the Havana, and now I'd like to add the Tokyo Anniversary model. FPJ is on my bucket list, but not until, my bucket runneth over.⌚️ Maybe FPJ will work together with Vostok to produce a special edition for about $100.00 (I can dream can't I?)😂
Love the CS. Its not my favorite FPJ, that would be the T-25 or Vagabondage 2 but its damn close. Only problem is they are unobtainable where WB has a PF Tonda 1950 in Steel for $7500, or you can get a gold one on C24 for the same, it makes these very hard to choose. Not quite on the same level but not far off either.
That is among my favorites too, O Bud... still in all, though I do like the second hand to tell me it's running and the power reserve indicator to tell if it needs winding. Take care, Bill

Get the older S-Ms while Peter was still with the company. Good hunting, Bill
Hi Bill. The art of Holland and Holland, or that of FP Journe. These days, I am not certain which would be the cheaper option.
Unfortunately, none are cheaper ... I was in the Sun Diasl R Us store the other day, Tuna. All I can afford these days! Take care, Bill
Extraordinary watch brand.
What I like best is the simplicity of that model, Javi. Take care, Bill
