the thing is it is not about being best or not. It is the ONLY one currently with a trackpad. Yes I know that the bridge pro plus is there too, but from all I heard it is kinda glitchy and doesn't support gestures, and it doesn't have smart connector.
Let’s just be honest, this case is for people who type most of the time. Besides who doesn’t have multiple cases for their apple products, I mean I must have at least four or five cases for just my iPhone and three for my iPad. I knew before I bought the magic keyboard case that I was just going to be typing with it hence the keyboard. This is an amazing product, apple did such a good job making the already capable iPad Pro more so. Great video btw loving your minimalist style to your office
You did, I also own the keyboard, I like it but I will be the first to say it's an overpriced keyboard stand that's only useful typing or surfing the web or watching movies anything else it will have to be removed from the keyboard leaving your ipad unprotected.
studivan I meant he made it similar to Apple ad I get you when you say it’s expensive but then again which Apple products don’t sell regardless of price......it’ll all become normal I mean look at the iphone....never thought I’d see a phone for £1500
I definitely agree on most fronts. I think one thing that really surprised me is that despite the thickness and the weight of the magic keyboard, I find that i don’t mind at all. In fact, I think I actually appreciate the added heft and the thickness does make me feel confident that it wont snap in half inside of my bag. Great video and cheers!
Love your smooth calming voice. Also love you addressed the apple pencil in combination with this keyboard, many other reviewers don’t even say a thing about it.
Love reviews when the reviewer lists flaws and issues rather than glossing over them! Helps us make an informed decision when buying ;) thanks! A thumbs up from me. I’ve been trying an iPad Pro the past week and while it excels at some things (like the drawing tablet) wide array of apps and portability. It’s UI, file system, multitasking etc... is just lacking compared to an actual laptop. Not to mention many professional apps just don’t compare to their MacBook/pc counterparts. Thanks for the review 👍
I just got my iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard today. So far I love it. I also own a 2018 13 inch MacBook Pro, and I will be starting my freshman year of college in the fall. My plan is to keep the MBP docked in my dorm with a monitor and take the iPad Pro to class for notes and then use sidecar for homework.
I have this setup and I can tell you this: - I have no issue using my tablet “flat” with the case on. Since the hinge is very thick and firm, you can just turn it around and use it flat with the keys up. You get a very nice experience with your device at an angle. Also, I would say that I wouldn’t buy the mac, instead of this because: - I want something that fits in my purse. (And my iPad Air 4 with this case fits perfectly) - I don’t like laptops. - I work from home, in a windows PC, but when I’m not working I’m always on the move. So I have this light device that I can take everywhere, works as a drawing tablet, note taking, does most of the things I need, etc. If I had to buy a mac to pair with this setup I would pick the Mac mini. I hate laptops, have I said that already? Also very nice video!
You did an amazing job on this video! I loved the intro! I think the keyboard is awesome and it finally liberates the iPad from the “just tablet” territory and puts it in a work tablet category which is very refreshing.
I just got mine yesterday. Love it though I have a small little crease in the loose rubber covering the hinge somehow already after maybe half a day of use. Maybe it was like that and I didn’t notice because I can’t seem to shape it back to normal. Besides that, it’s incredible well built. I have the Apple Smart Keyboard and the Brydge Keyboard and the magic keyboard completely wipes the floor with both of those
I have watched several reviews of the Magic Keyboard, and yours is the most informative. I believe you are the only one to tell me that the keyboard will actually protect the iPad. Thank you. I didn't choose the iPad over the MacBook. I have both, and the iPad for really one reason: the pencil. I wish Apple would give in and add touch screen to the Mac.
The only reason that makes apple believe that people will chose this over the MacBook Pro even though both are in same price range is the Touch support and Apple pencil. Can't get that with MacBook Pro.
If you own both like I do, you would know the obvious decision would be to buy the MacBook pro, Ipad OS is way to limited, as long as ipads run ipad os instead of Mac os they will never beat a MacBook
The only reason? Nah man. FaceID, 120 Hz screen, the flexibility of being able to detach the tablet and carry it separately. Lots of reasons beside those you mentioned!

This is an awesome review. Definitely the most informative out of the dozen or so that I’ve watched. Also, loved the production values and B roll. Awesome work.
Great review and the filming was really good. Great job! I would never choose a MacBook over an iPad Pro though. My Mac sits in a corner barely used most of the time.
So excited to get my Magic Keyboard for writing my scripts on my iPad. My iPad has become such a huge part of my workflow for my videos, and this seems to be the last piece of the puzzle that's missing! Nice video!
Can’t wait for Magic Keyboard 2.0. I think if that folds back and has function keys, it’ll give a LOT of people buyer’s remorse for not waiting for version 2.

Not having the extra keys to dim the brightness or an escape key on the magic keyboard…is no problem! And there are a lot of tricks you can do with the magic keyboard to prop up the iPad with a nice tilt so you can draw using the Apple Pencil. Only thing I advise.. get a nice bluetooth mouse on Amazon for $8, and get a external hard drive depending on the work you do. I love the set up Oliur, very clean.
Hi, when you are using the magic keyboard do you have battery draining issue? My ipad pro 12.9 2020 drains 32% for an hour of Notion apps usage when attached to the magic keyboard and cause my ipad overheating and depleting battery even after i detach it from the magic keyboard, i have to turn of my ipad for several minutes to cooldown and prevent the further battery depletion. Thanks before.
Yeah, we basically have the same setup (though I have a PC instead of an iMac), and I pretty much came to the same conclusions: My PC is great for Resolve, VR games, Photoshop, while the iPad (I have the 11 Pro base model 2018, now the keyboard) is pretty much functional enough to make me not have to worry about needing a laptop, and is great as just an iPad for when I need a lightweight tablet. Thought I was gonna be disappointed by the magic keyboard but it’s been super impressive.
I made that decision (MacBook vs IPad) back in 2018, I chose the iPad Pro and love mine. It can do everything I require of it. The keyboard just adds to it, I’d expect as time goes on the IPad experience will continue to get better.

If you wish to use the pen, just turn the case upside-down, put the iPad part on the table.
I got mine for the 12.9 yesterday. Completely agree with there needing to be a grove to open. I’ve detached my iPad so many times in the 24 hours I’ve had it! I love the device though I only use iPad for work and home so i would choose the magic keyboard over the Mac option purely for the versatility of taking the iPad off the case and working with it in different ways. Especially compared with the more rigid capabilities of a laptop. Great review as always though... loving the new background set up! Stay safe ✌️
Man I love your clean videos dude! Also its because of you that I discovered the refurbished side of Apple and bought the 2018 iPad pro WiFi + cellular + apple pencil for the new 2020 iPad pro 11 inch price! I would recommend check out the Logitech keyboard for the iPad pro...its has the function keys and the travel for the keys feel so much better! Also you can open it with one hand and can lay it flat along with standing! Also its way cheaper than the Magic keyboard...they only loss is the track-pad but you can connect a Bluetooth mouse and you are good to go :D keep up the amazing work man! p.s love your presets!
Nice review. And I like your content and your setup. Love this iPad Pro Magic keyboard and I’ll definitely be ordering one. I currently use an iPad Pro 11” as my daily driver and have done so for almost a year. Had to sell off my MacBook Pro cos the 128gb was just not enough. My iPad Pro is 256gb and it’s great. I pair it with a Magic Keyboard 2, a Magic Trackpad 2 as well as a 27” HD monitor. When I get this iPad Pro Magic keyboard, it’ll be for when I’m out and about. It’ll be much easier than juggling three separate items separately. And of course I totally love the look.
Hey Oliur, I came across your videos by watching SuperSaf's Tesla video and he mentioned your name. I have been watching your content for the past two hours non-stop. Great content and theres something about your presentation skills, It's just so damn soothing and relaxing to watch. Keep up the great work bro!
I think this is a very fair review. I currently have the 9.7" original iPad Pro that I use with a keyboard along with a Windows 10 laptop. I was thinking about getting the latest 12.9" Pro and this keyboard, but as you say, when you add it all up, you are in the range of a lower end MacBook Pro which is crazy. The lack of an escape key and function keys is unfortunate. I think you make a great point about the potential for an accident when opening the case when the iPad is attached. In short, I think it's a great product but will probably need a revision or two before I am willing to part with so much money.
I recently bought the iPad Pro and magic keyboard with my stimulus check and I’m just a casual user but I have to say I love it, from watching RUclips or surfing the net its amazing!! I cant wait for the fantasy football draft were all my buddies have there computers or tablets and I was using my iPhone 8, now I’m the big dog🤪
Wagdy M same here. I’m glad this guy came up on my recommended. Unfortunately Ali abdaals videos are brilliant but you have to bare in mind he’s an Apple fan boy, really biased reviews!
I am a student and also work in digital media on the side. Have the 11" iPad Pro and the 15" MacBook Pro. Choosing only one would be difficult. Cannot imagine taking notes using pen and paper again but also wouldn't be able to do all of content creation on my iPad (yet).
Have you thought of setting the Ipad - Side to the desk so that the Keyboard stands up in the air? This gives you a suitable drawing and noting position for the Apple Pencil usage. Okay it does not look very well thought out, but as the hinge is very rigid it is another use case
I have the Ipad Pro and MacBook Air. I think that combo makes the most sense for most people. Definitely the most sense for non travelers or light travelers. I actually thought about getting this keyboard. IPAD IOS is excellent, but deficient compared to OS. The Mac display falls short of the IPAD. Not as useful for magazine type reading. The sweet spot is the two separate devices.
Nice to see that you’re using the 2018 iPads pro. I take hand written notes on mine with the Apple Pencil so not sure this is the right keyboard for me. Your studio setup looks great by the way.
Maybe the function row keys would make your fingers hit the iPad and you can use command period or the f key as an escape key when in safari. But you can also pinch on your trackpad to enter or exit a video in the RUclips app.
When the Magic Keyboard was first talked about, I had the same thoughts, what about those customers who use their iPad for sketching or for writing out their notes? The case leaves options, but doesn’t mean those options will actually work for anyone. Myself, I am not one of those people, I type more than I write. The Magic Keyboard is great for typing, and yes you can take the iPad Pro out of the case and place on top of the case to write, or you can turn the case over to where the iPad is slanted, but that can put too much stress on your device that may be harmful. So for me, I just take the iPad Pro and place it on top of the Magic Keyboard case, and it works. I will say though, the Magic Keyboard case does offer the best typing experience and is the best case for the iPad Pro.
Remote Desktop combo is perfect with this whether it’s Mac or pc but only a few apps actually work properly with the trackpad from what I’ve seen. Mines on the way after amazon jerked me around a bit with the shipping.
What I have always disliked about Bluetooth keyboards, is the pairing process. Sometimes it works, other times you are sitting there waiting till it pairs, but I have only found that with more affordable cases, not from cases like Logitech or Apple. My experience with the Magic Keyboard case has been nothing but awesome. The case is definitely solid, great typing experience, trackpad takes the iPad Pro experience to another level, and the extra charging port is a nice touch. Although the extra port serves no other purpose nor works 100% with other charging devices than the Apple charger, it is still nice when you have something going on and need to charge the device at the same time. I use my case with the Logi Pebble mouse, which if you do use it with a mouse, turn on assistive touch and turn off the menu from showing because it adds a lot more functionality to the iPad. A mixture of the case and mouse or trackpad is an awesome experience. The iPad Pro is my personal laptop replacement. The other thing too, between the 11.9 and the 12.9 keyboard option, is the keys are not as condensed and you get a more of a traditional experience.
Can’t you change the brightness with the trackpad? So drag with the trackpad rather than touching the screen? Am hoping so as i can do that since mouse support came out.
First review I’ve seen with a 2018 iPad Pro. Loved the review and am really contemplating buying one for my 2018 12.9. The only thing about the cost vs a MacBook Air/Pro is that the iPad Pro with keyboard and pencil allow for a certain level of flexibility not available on any Mac. FaceID, rear camera, touch interface as well as cursor, LTE service instead of WiFi only, signing documents and writing notes. I think it probably depends on the workflow as to which device makes more sense. As far as your set up, I love it. 👌
I think I’m gonna get the 11’ with a Apple Pencil and the keyboard. I’m gonna be using this for drawing, writing, entertainment and maybe school. So yeah.
Dude i love your glasses, where can i find them? Lol. Anyhow I’m typing using my iPad and magic keyboard. I’m a classical vocalist, I work singing opera and teaching voice. The iPad is the best solution for me, with the Apple Pencil I’m able to write notes on my sheet music app (forscore). I literally use my iPad for work daily. A MacBook couldn’t give the accessibility the iPad does for my work in music.
Why does your Return key along the right side look so different from mine, which is also the 11” model? You have a long, from top to bottom, Return key and mine is long from left to right.
GARY OLSEN yes, it works great! I have both the smart folio keyboard, and the magic keyboard. Around the house I tend to use the folio, it is lighter and better for tablet mode. But when I am out I take the magic keyboard, it is the better one for productivity.
iPad OS, Apple Pencil, Now the Magic Keyboard and 120hz display - Now I feel like all my mobile computing needs will be properly covered. I am waiting for the iMac redesign. Now I have a MBP late 2013 and iPad Pro 10.5 and I need to upgrade in both departments. Since I spend a lot of time working from home I think I will have an iMac + iPad Pro combo.
Hi Oliur. Thanks for the video. I just recently sold my Mac Book Pro (2017) top specs and got a new iPad Pro 12.9 with the same case. I am pretty happy with the case, trackpad and keyboard. One thing I disagree with you is that I would go once again for the ipad pro and magic keyboard solution. :) I like the portability and flexibility so you can just take it off from the stand. Have a nice day. Cheers
I really like the keyboard (typing experience) and the design. but my problems are: the „viewing angle“ is extremely limited (you can‘t use the apple pencil when the iPad is i the case). the edges are exposed so if you want to prevent your iPad from scratching you have to buy a second case (like a „soft“ laptop case). and most importantly the price is extremely high (349$!!). (your setup is nice)
I think the Magic Keyboard was designed to be open the best way from the hinge on the bottom, the iPad standing vertical, and the Apple Pencil side is pointing upward and the base is to be peeled towards you.
If it had function keys, would it throw off the dimensions of the case? Or is there actually room up there? Or would they be under the floating screen? I can’t tell.
What would u choose between the 11 inch ipad and magic keyboard or macbook air for a student (doing economics at uni), that may do light video and photo editing in the future. Btw what storage should I choose(it will be my only device)
I have it at uni for architecture with environmental engineering, it is great, never lose work cause you can scan all documents, great at note taking and when I get the magic keyboard i think it will be me sorted for the next few years at uni. 100% recommend
Great video! I actually didn’t think about the cons you pinpointed in there but, I didn’t plan on taking the magic keyboard (a lil bit expensive and not so interesting). And to answer your question, I use both the MacBook Pro and the iPad pro. Both have their pros.
Amazing review dude! I am just unsure about the apple pencil..Bc I like to white drown the things and I don't feel safe to take off the Ipad and leave it without any protection while using it...
There has to be some sort of exclusivity here. I don’t know a single “regular” person that has received their magic keyboard yet. I haven’t received mine and I ordered it as soon as it was available for preordering. It is not available in retail stores. In fact, most sites still say the product is unreleased. Yet, several RUclipsrs have it. Several have gone out of their way to mention that their relationship with Apple is not ideal and they had to purchase the device themselves. If that is indeed the case, how is it that they’ve received their devices WEEKS before everyone else?
I’m guessing here, but I would assume Apple sends them in advance as a form of advertising. I would imagine Apple sends a preproduction model of it to certain RUclips creators, then they have to send it back. That’s my best guess.
The first video I saw for it, a good week ago at this point, was from a no name RUclips channel that clearly wasn't doing videos professionally and didn't have a large audience. I cannot imagine Apple sending that channel anything; that video was made just to answer some initial questions by someone who'd bought it. I understand you may be getting the board pretty late, but it seems a lot of people have already gotten theirs.
To open the ipad, lay the hinge against a table, then it opens up easily when you pull it open OR lay it flat on the table and place your hands on either side and lift up... BOOM 💥 It opens easily. I dont know about you, but either looking for / feeling for the hinge or the apple logo or the camera cut out, that seems to let me know which side is up. But thats me. I have both a MacBook and a iPad Pro. I am looking at the MacBook so I can do coding work (I am learning) I will probably use my iPad more. The reason I got the Magic Keyboard was not having to type on cardboard and chicklets feeling with keys that light up. That was what bugged me the most about using the old Apple Keyboard and why I had to grab my big ass MacBook Pro to do simple things at night. Good Luck
Honestly I like having a tablet. I like Apple products and the versatility the iPad provides. So I prefer it over the MacBook. I think it really just comes down to how useful each product can be for you.
Does adding function keys really make sense? Can the os work with it? Now that the iPad is closer to being a laptop, people don't want to touch screen as much, but instead use keyboard shortcuts. 🤷♂️ Really glad apple didn't add a touch screen on MacBooks.
People seem to be forgetting that this case is for those people who are primarily typing on their iPads, with limited or no use of the Apple Pencil. For those who use an Apple Pencil, but also have a need for a keyboard occasionally, the Smart Keyboard Folio case is the one for them. The Magic Keyboard was clearly not designed for Apple Pencil use. I wish ppl would stop complaining that it is awkward to use the Pencil with this case.
The quality of this guy's videos are higher than many youtubers with mils of subscribers, never give up man. Cheers
He already rich. RUclips a hobby for him :)
honestly this seems to be the best keyboard for iPad on the market.
Thomas Beckham / zeus but for $350?
the thing is it is not about being best or not. It is the ONLY one currently with a trackpad. Yes I know that the bridge pro plus is there too, but from all I heard it is kinda glitchy and doesn't support gestures, and it doesn't have smart connector.

Dont have to be honest. It is the best
I don’t see it worth it tbh
Wow, this channel is super underrated. The quality of this review is so good, organized and very informative.

I am a heavy iPad Pro user for designing and drawing using the Pencil. This keyboard is a nice addition for typing. It’s not that confusing.
Salem Al Ketbi yea. Absolutely. I think overall, the MacBook is specialized in certain laptop features, but the iPad is also good, and more versatile.

p.s love your presets!
Your Kit page says you use the Rode video micro. Is that what you are using here and how far away is it? Do you have any sound dampening panels?
Hey Oliur, I came across your videos by watching SuperSaf's Tesla video and he mentioned your name. I have been watching your content for the past two hours non-stop. Great content and theres something about your presentation skills, It's just so damn soothing and relaxing to watch. Keep up the great work bro!
Straight to the point, honest, and amazing cinematic b-rolls. Keep it up! 👍
What is this @0:11? The enter key on mine is not like this? Is that even the apple keyboard?
You can program the keyboard in settings to add ESC-key functionality
How?
I love the design of your vids, always so clean !
Best review on Magic Keyboard so far.
You are the only person who thought of putting the ipad flat that way🙌🏻 is the magnet working while its on top?
This a most honest review I ever see about this product , I saw Ali Abdall and many others
But ur review was great and honest
Thank you for your help
Wagdy M same here. I’m glad this guy came up on my recommended. Unfortunately Ali abdaals videos are brilliant but you have to bare in mind he’s an Apple fan boy, really biased reviews!
Presumably it’s heavy because there’s big need for a screen counterweight?
Yeah it would definitely just fall over bc it's opposite weight distribution of a laptop
Got mine a few weeks ago. That + the apple pencil will be the ultimate student laptop for me
I am a student and also work in digital media on the side. Have the 11" iPad Pro and the 15" MacBook Pro. Choosing only one would be difficult. Cannot imagine taking notes using pen and paper again but also wouldn't be able to do all of content creation on my iPad (yet).
Great Video. Great Style. Thank you for this video! I like your shelf in the background - where did you get it from? 💪🏼
Do you still have your AMG mate?
*Sir that is one of the best thumbnail on RUclips. Period.*
*Just do any video to showcase how you edit your videos.*
Really good content brother and high quality shots and good points on the product
I like so much your new setup, it’s clean and minimalist 🖤
Why not use the track pad to open the control center to turn the brightness down instead of using your finger?
Why does your Return key along the right side look so different from mine, which is also the 11” model? You have a long, from top to bottom, Return key and mine is long from left to right.
You also have a small key between the Z Key and the left Shift button I do not have.
I am getting the 11” are u happy with keyboard?
The shelf to your right looks very genuine but I think you Should also put something up on the wall to your left hand side
Cheers
Command (.) period is basically a escape key. It will allow you to exist full screens vids just like an ESC key.
Are you keeping it ? I have the 2020
I really like the keyboard (typing experience) and the design. but my problems are: the „viewing angle“ is extremely limited (you can‘t use the apple pencil when the iPad is i the case). the edges are exposed so if you want to prevent your iPad from scratching you have to buy a second case (like a „soft“ laptop case). and most importantly the price is extremely high (349$!!). (your setup is nice)
I think the Magic Keyboard was designed to be open the best way from the hinge on the bottom, the iPad standing vertical, and the Apple Pencil side is pointing upward and the base is to be peeled towards you.
I love your new setup. It looks clean bro.
Where did you get that background?
Really well produced video this guy is a designer surely
Ok so you actually pointed out some things that no other RUclipsd has pointed out! Like the opening in the wrong way problem. Nice job!
If it had function keys, would it throw off the dimensions of the case? Or is there actually room up there? Or would they be under the floating screen? I can’t tell.
With the case closed and the iPad on the front for tablet mode, does the iPad still stick to the cover?
What would u choose between the 11 inch ipad and magic keyboard or macbook air for a student (doing economics at uni), that may do light video and photo editing in the future. Btw what storage should I choose(it will be my only device)
I have it at uni for architecture with environmental engineering, it is great, never lose work cause you can scan all documents, great at note taking and when I get the magic keyboard i think it will be me sorted for the next few years at uni. 100% recommend
@@JD-hh2qb what screen size and memory did u get
Hiten I do economics at uni and have both. Would recommend MacBook Air over the iPad though.
@@hiten4188 12.9 and 256gb with cellular, I got it last summer for £800 was a bargain
@@ellisbailey6546 how come u prefer the mac air?
Solo A I received mine last wed. They were sent out on time.
As a contractor iPad Pro easer to take to job site. I like your new setup for filming.
i returned my 11” MKB today because the trackpad is too small and it’s too heavy. also very hard to open
What keyboard will you be using?
Loved the video and now subscribed. Glad to have another great tech RUclipsd to follow that does awesome B roll and just gets to the facts!
Good Luck
intro music? (description link doesn't work)
Honestly I like having a tablet.
Really glad apple didn't add a touch screen on MacBooks.
