Not worth it if you draw on your iPad. Folio Keyboard case was way better.

I paid $349 for the 13 inch magic keyboard. While i think the price point is a bit high, I’m happy with the keyboard - it’s a great addition to the iPad. I had the prior version of the magic keyboard…i feel the overall upgrades to the new one are significant

I’m curious how you could do a thorough review of the new Magic Keyboard without mentioning its major flaw: Tapping the iPad’s touch screen, even lightly, makes the entire combination lean away from you, because the pass-through hinge _doesn’t touch the desk or surface_ on which you are working. Foolish Apple designers neglected this important detail. Why neglect to have the hinge actually make contact with your desk…especially since this is still a touch-screen tablet and the tippy combination of iPad & keyboard is so top heavy?? Major mistake.

I’ve heard people mention this and I’ve almost never had this issue. And this is coming from someone who uses the MK on not only flat desks, but also on my lap, bed, and other uneven surfaces. Sure if you apply extra force it’ll tip over, but from my normal daily usage I never have this issue.

It’s great if you want to use it in laptop mode (except for iPadOS). But the moment you want to use your iPad as, you know, a tablet, it becomes useless. Then you have to detach your iPad, which is now unprotected.
Solution: make the keyboard detachable, with Bluetooth connectivity. And allow users to run macOS in a virtual machine if they decide to. Perfect all-in-one device.

I personally wish apple would make a version of the magic keyboard which offers protection in the sides like a case, kinda like the logitech combo folio, and I am willing to pay the price of extra weight for this!

I bought the Magic Keyboard for my 13” M4 and really like it. I previously had the Logitech combo on my 12.9 M1 and it was good, but felt flimsy and often closed the app or locked the iPad if I was trying to type on my lap, so it became a habit to just remove the keyboard and not use it that much (my husband inherited it when I upgraded and doesn’t like using the keyboard). The Magic Keyboard is much sturdier and actually use it a lot more than I thought I would. I have the black version and have not been bothered with fingerprints, etc. It cleans up really easily. I do agree that it would be nice to have a lightweight, slim protective case for the iPad.

I will certainly say the Magic Keyboard for my M4 13" is an improvement over the older one I used with my M1 12.9". I am adding a Burton Goods Leather protective case for my new M4's Magic Keyboard. Yes, all these accessories really drive the overall cost up. It is our own choice whether to go deeply into the wallet. There are less expensive alternatives. So having different products to fit our needs and budget is always good!

Great video - informative and good pace. I think the new Magic keyboard is THE reason to move to the 2024 M4 iPad Pro. I moved from an M1 iPad Pro and the previous Magic Keyboard. This is MUCH Better; particularly for the Trackpad.

Too bad Apple doesn’t offer a smart keyboard folio. This one isn’t as stable and takes up too much space. With the iPad’s touch screen, I have no need for a touch pad that adds weight to the arrangement.

I got the white version and the main thing that annoys me is the light bleed from around the keys. I can see it through the sides of the keys as I use it on my knee all the time, so I am finding that annoying. On the 13” black one I had before (I swapped for the 11”) the key letters just lit up like any other keyboard, so for me, this light bleed thing is something I am getting used to with the white keyboard. The worst area being the top row of function keys. They seem to be brighter than the letter keys. However, the “Storm Trooper” look of my black iPad and white keyboard is just so goooood. 😂 Thanks for the video 👍🏻

The system would make more sense if the Ipad was in a robust magnetic case, so that when you detach it from the stand it is protected. But detaching it and needing to put it in a case, then get it out again and put it back on the stand? Repeat 20-30 times a day? Nope. This is perhaps for people who constantly have it on a keyboard stand. But then why not buy a macbook/laptop with an OS that supports laptop use cases? After all, this is a tablet…

Some nice improvements for sure on the new keyboard. I don’t use a keyboard with my iPad. I use my MacBook Pro for any serious work. I wouldn’t pay $349 for the 13 inch keyboard.

Apple makes Watch bands that works 10 years. Also Apple - changes the keyboard of the iPad completely and breaks compatibility every few years.

If you draw on iPad, the Magic Keyboard is a huge miss from Apple. There used to be a "Folio Keyboard" that was "enough" keyboard AND I could fold it completely to the back of the device to use the iPad for drawing. No "Magic Keyboard" for me. Apple - provide a Folio Case please!
