I really admired many of the artists’ work in this episode. There were so many different styles and it’s amazing how each of them had a completely different take on their sitter. Personally, I wouldn’t have chosen Christos Samaris as the winner but there is only the odd occasion when I agree with the judges’ choice ! Still, I really love this programme and Landscape Artist of the Year. Excellent viewing.
Strangely surprising outcome I thought they were going to pick Jane French, she had the strongest portrait and it followed her zestful modern style....
So impressed with alot of these paintings. So clever. Jane's pic of Mr Hislop smiling is so lovely. Colours and everything. Christos (sp?) Pic was lovely too
Thanks so much for making these videos available for us to see year after year. I must admit that I am quite addicted to this show. These artists are so talented it must be hard to let them go and just choose one every time! Most times I actually don’t know the sitters as I’m not British myself but it doesn’t make it less interesting to watch! I think that’s actually what I find incredible.
Thank goodness they did not select Helen's work. These judges seem to have a predilection for weak work. Christoph and Jane were the strongest painters by far. I thought Jane's portrait was slightly better in this instance.
Always look to see if the sitters shake the artists hands on entering. Was disappointed this time. I always think the gesture goes a long way for that extra connection between the two. But do love the show ❤
Surely the sitters can buy the other portraits if they want them? I have always wondered! Of course for the show they need to pick one, but after that I hope they can meet with the artist to buy them. And if that is the case I hope the one who is picked gets paid too.
I'm looking for some of these artists work but they haven't given any credit to them. I think I may have misspelled names but does anyone have the names of the artists?
"- Artists do have bad days. - Well, not just artists." Was she possibly implying the judges themselves have bad days, maybe hinting at how they judged him in the previous season?! Either way, curious dialogue, to say the least.
OMG/G!!!!! The artist that's painted a freakin bald spot going through the middle of that gorgeous Sistah Blacknificent hair is so insulting and just wrong!!!
@@lluchadden4040 it looks a little bit but Jane French was definitely the strongest portrait I'm very shocked and a bit upset that they didn't pick hers
The judges get together at "halftime" and uselessly babble on about a portrait not having a likeness, or one judge doesn't like the paint drips, or they don't see where one portrait is going etc., all while the artists are only halfway done. Rude and silly in the extreme, considering that the artists are interrupted frequently already.
Jane's portrait made me happy, she was my winner🎉
I loved so many of the paintings
Ian Hislop was captured beautifully. He often smiles like that even when he's tearing someone to shreds. The art teacher did well.

16? his talent is 🤯
Gotta watch Him growing up and getting better...
Awesome!

Love Jane's pic too

This was a particularly strong episode in my opinion. Several of the artists who didn't make the shortlist probably would have, on other episodes.
I loved Ian's sweet face!!
Thanks so much for uploading
great choice.. luv this show

Right. The portrait doesn't need to look like the sitter? I assume the commissioner would beg to differ.

I suspect covid rules prohibited handshaking
This must have been recorded during Covid. Everyone was distancing.
Same! Sometimes they do not even say Hello at all, or look at the painters.. that comes really arrogant along Imo..
@@jillannegabler7474 I agree, there was also no live audience as well due to social distancing guideline.
This was a great group of artists. Thank you Banijay!
Agree with 2 of the final three...aaand.... they picked one of the ones I liked for the win .. I'm shocked!
Going to be a very interesting competition
It is always a challenge to pic the winner... l would have picked Hellen l think... but they all are great in their own way!
One can only be in awe...
😮😅The man in the suit has an absolutely incredible face. Love to paint such a face.
THANK YOU FOR THESE IN SA
Regarding the winner: what was meant by “watered-down oils”? Did they mean thinned oils or is he using water soluble oils? His painting was stunning.
I think they mean thinned oils
He deluted the oils...

No. Jane French is better. Christof's doesn't look like the sitter.
agree

Christos is a much accomplished artist with a visual language based on truth - a painter's painter.
...wrong!!
@@gordonbrunner9429 wrong in so many levels... It almost makes me think that these competitions are rigged
