So cool to see you still making these great reviews!! I have read your magazine since forever. I am only 17 so some of the magazines I read from you are almost as old as me, but this is one of the best review channels to me. Great video man!!
Thanks! Missed the old days of print. But I had to move to video. Didn’t actually have a choice if I still wanted to share my passion for the hobby. Thanks for watching!
I had the first Jumpshot SC. Waited 2 years for that truck! I sold it after a year because my local track shut down. I want another but I don’t have anywhere to run it.
Great video and an interesting truck. Love the TVP, a more of a complete/professional engineered solution than flat plates with a brace! thanks for uploading it 👍🍺🇬🇧
Are the parts for this one able to be used on the jumpshot sc v2 brushed? I was new to the hobby when I ordered it last year and still haven't learned a whole lot since I took about a 6 month break haha. I need new electronics tho so would love to go brushless and find a solution for the dog bones in the back. Had a few issues with those
Got in it a brushless AGF rc servo, new shpcks and a brushless sensored mx10 G3 system 4000 kv. It is a very nice racing truck, in my opinion too light for bashing.
I picked one up and lost a dogbone in the first 10 minutes and didnt realize, i put it away to check later, thought it was a loose pinion and didnt check it until later. Now I cant find an axle or cvd to buy 🤦🏻♂️
The Jumpshot is great , except for that weak servo and servo saver. Upgrade the servo to all steel and a heavy duty aluminum servo saver, change the spur gear to a steel one, then you have one beast of an rc.
Another great video. Just a question though Greg. Did you ever finish the "project mower maxx". Project started in the 2nd edition of the physical magazine.
Love your reviews! This thing looks strong (despite problems with the servo saver), fast and fun but you can't hide the fact that handling is sketchy and the technology is old (I mean TVP chassis?) . Sorry but hope HPI is not relying on this thing to revive the brand!
Thanks!! Why is TVP old? It’s a design style. Just like plate chassis, tub chassis, modular chassis. It’s proven to work on the Savage and adapted here, it sets them apart from all the others. I see people saying the Jumpshot is old when it’s not when compared to some other brands. How long has Traxxas been using their 1/10 chassis? 2-3 times longer than the Jumpshot yet they sell tons. A company releasing a new chassis all the time scares me. The cost to do that is high and one bad release could really damage a company and then users won’t have the parts support anymore. Using something proven and tweaking any issues with new versions is smart for the business and the end user. HPI is rebuilding itself, it’s doing it the smart way by replenishing parts stock for existing users, offering revised versions of existing cars to regain consumer confidence without incurring big investments for new models. This will eventually pave the way for new stuff once they’re on solid ground. Most of the handling issues in the video was a result of the tires, non-vented body and wind. It’s a good truck and does handle well as a basher which is it’s intended use. I wouldn’t at all recommend it as a race truck though. Sorry about the long post, but I think it will help others with similar questions. 😆
@@rcdriver All excellent points Greg but all the other platforms are firmly established and widely used. That HPI is pretty much the only manufacturer to use this technology says something in my mind. It's very stiff but offers no real advantages over other platforms. Using a proprietary design (at least one not commonly used) can set you apart from other manufacturers, or it can put you out on the fringes. Also, it means stocking spares that adds to an already huge overhead for hobby stores. Not necessarily disagreeing with you, you're a smart guy, lol, I just think there are a lot better options out there. I would love to see HPI make a return, especially their on-road stuff but time will tell.
A buddy ditched his old HPI Blitz for a new AE SC6.2 to be more of a threat on the backyard race track...great SCT video breakdown! Side note: Never understood why certain clubs don’t allow vents in rc cars for race events, parachuting is real!
hopefully ill be getting one soon but i think what everyone wants to know is how does it compare to the BLITZ? love my blitz but i think its about time to retire it.
Doesn't seem too good of a basher if the servo saver is breaking that easily, especially considering you don't have a lot of air control with 2wd. Maybe you were just unlucky, but you've put other vehicles through a lot more without any breakages, including much heavier vehicles. $300 (CAD)...I'm not sure. Similar price to what I paid for my Vaterra Glamis Uno (unfortunately a company that is gone now). The Glamis had aluminum shock caps, and never leaked on me. In fact, I never did maintenance on the Glamis, largely due to the difficulty in disassembly. I modded it to a mod1 pinion and spur, added a better electronics combo, and had that thing doing over 80mph on 3s, and kept the same gearing for off road. Total breakages, before the slipper pad that put the vehicle out of commission was one shock rod end and on dogbone after an impact hitting a car tire.
I’ve put the other Jumpshot trucks through a lot and have more rough driving time in on them since the reviews. Haven’t broken the servo savers on them. I think I hit this one at just the right angle. Things happen, but I did want to share what I encountered.
@@rcdriver Ah okay, just the lucky hit I guess. I've had a few of those with my Outcast 8s...or my girlfriend rather. She tapped into a brick built garden structure. Limited to 50% throttle, and she barely hit it, but it snapped an arm. It was the first break the truck had, and I was launching it off snow banks, sometimes 20ft in the air.
I can't believe in your last video comical hot shot the lightly tuned motor technically has 300 rpm more then a silver can I can't believe you got slower top end compared to a silver can.
Literally ran the modded Hot Shot back to back within an hour of the stock Avante in the same space with the same pack repeaked. Same radio system and endpoints checked. 3 runs each. Same peak speed each time for both. 🤷♂️
@@rcdriver hey if you don't want the motor I'll take it eventually I'll use it on something. Fortunately I can't afford it right now anyways hopefully will have another kit soon and I will getting a different type of motor I want in my car but I was planning on putting that on a car that I feel needs to be slower. Lol
HI Team RC Driver_online, We would like to have a discussion about our battery review for your audience, since Melasta Rc car batteries are hot selling products on amazon and aliexpress. Kindly let me know if we can have a discussion
I like HPI but 2WD and no AVC and no TSM is not up to date like other RC car manufacturers. The car is spinning constantly. And the body is parachuting too. A big NO from me for this model.

That flip in the intro tho 🔥
Right! Had the most fun just sending that thing into the wind!
@@rcdriver Sometimes it's fun playing in the wind with an SCT, that clip was just proof of it
Seems like it may parachute excessively with such a thin chassis. But the price seems great.
Looks like a nice 2WD SCT.

Damn wind, it's never there when you want it and always there when you don't.
Yup! 2 hour drive to the track and there’s hurricane like winds. Send it anyway, it’s RC time! 🤣
Another awesome review! Keep it up!
Id like to see a comparison to the slasher.

Good info Greg!!!
Oh, per your previous review on the Traxxas 2021 Bronco. I've got one on order, thanks!!!
Thanks for sharing. 😉👌🏻
Excellent review
cool rc and review
Wow
Awesome race 😍😍
Hopefully the 5t,5b,and5sc come back 1/5
Looks great and a nice price😊.Do you know topspeed in 3s ?
I saw the arrma kreighton 8s bash but I haven't seen you do the xmaxx
How fast does it go?

They upgraded the servo saver. Haven’t run into a problem with the MT and ST yet. But broke this one. Agreed optional parts will be going in.
Another great video. Just a question though Greg. Did you ever finish the "project mower maxx". Project started in the 2nd edition of the physical magazine.
Lol I can see you holding back on not just saying how bad this truck is lol. Where's the old blitz that was actually competitive

Oh yeah
Oooh thats nice 👌 👋
AWESOME TRUCK. Do you know anyone that makes a Dirt late Model body for it. THANKS ??
Traxxas slash will always be one of the best top five Rc💪
Yet not a bit better than any other SC.
@@skyekaptain8010 yea i know but im not gonna knock traxxas slash😄 i love them a few upgrades its a perfect truck for a beginners
Can he handle 3S for long time ?
Do they have parts for savage flux xs
Does HPI offer this as a builders kit as well?
No, not sure about the future though. It would be nice.
When are you going to review the traxxas xmaxx?
Do you think the truck has good potential for loose dirt track racing with the right mods? The platform looks interesting.
With some tuning, it probably could. But I’m thinking fun backyard bashing is the way to go with this one.

The Blitz was a good truck. Race capable. The Jumpshot is a basher. If you’re going to spend your time ripping it around dirt lots, you’re good to go!
Excellent honest review . You said everything about this truck.👍
(HPI) needs to do more, but I'm a (4WD) guy, hopefully younger teens will love this (Jumpshot) truck. (B-)

Not a fan of how the front wheel wells are cut so much. Looks a little odd for a sct.
Challenge for you turn this into a capable racer.

I notice every hpi review I've watched has some build issues
4:22 2.2mm wheel design...
Wait a minute...
I bet it loves the sand.
Seams like that chassis would be a little wiggly side to side.
The battery box ties them together well.

Looks like a cheap piece of junk. HPI used to be so good early 2000’s
Fun fact this truck was designed by the original HPI group.
Ive promised myself to only buy 4WD RC cars. On road or off-road. It’s so much better
