He's lucky she stuck with him all these years and there was no way in hell he was going to find another woman who loved him for himself, who was true and beautiful inside and out. Any other woman would have been in it for the money. Let's face it, he doesn't have his looks anymore, and he needs a new fuckin hairstyle! Put some money into a straightener and conditioning treatments! All in all though, he's a good man and he has 2 kids that they managed to raise to adulthood who aren't arrogant or self entitled brats. He's actually a really smart man and has a lot to be proud of and seems to be a likable human being. I still wish he'd do something with that awful hair though! Tammie Miller

There must have been something about him that attracted women though because Cher said she slept with him, and she didn't NEED a dam thing from him money wise. I just don't get it. Why would a woman marry for money and not for love? I think Shannon loved him. At least it seems so. I don't know.

@@ceeceety2320 she could love him...nothing says you can’t fall in love even if you marry for money. Gene was famous incredibly so in the 70s when he was at his peak, Cher may not have “needed” him but celebrity is intoxicating so I’m sure that had something to do with it.

OF COURSE SHE WAS THERE FOR THE PERKS. SHE JUST ADMITTED THAT IN THE INTERVIEW "she waited until the kids were grown". She put her children first. No woman puts up, turns their head while a man has his cake and eats it to if she is not benefitting from the relationship some where ($$$$$). California has common marriage law: she was entitled to an enormous amount without being officially married. The children first and a continuous flow of money versus a one time settlement.

Some have said Shannon stayed because of the money . Think that is partly true, but living in a gilded fort with a man that never stops peacocking around is miserable. It's so far money buying happiness.
