@guszti68 yes because his mother born in Jánd, in Szabolcs county, in the very East part of Hungary. You can know that dialect from that diphthongs, specific to that part of Hungary only... :)
Priceless is the love between a mother and her child, and to witness the soft side of Gene with his AMAZING mother is definitely a little gift to us all!
I was never a fan of kiss, but if there is something I admire gene simmons more than anything, it is the love and respect he felt for his beloved mother, that says a lot about him.
My mother was born in Hungary as well , and all I hope that my grandfather wasn't involved in all those horrible things which happened to Jewish people at that time.
Gene, if you read this, I am so proud of you while sitting with your Mother. She is a superstar in my eyes, after all she raised you. I looked at your videos and the cemetery scene moved me the most. I am a Hungarian/American woman and one of your biggest fans. I understand the song you are singing with your Mother and makes me proud of you.
Yes, she does, but actually it is not a coutryside dialect. It is pure Hunagarian. Actually just as good as anyone living here. She is amazing, speaking a perfect Hungarian, without accent or dialect...
I was happy to see him on the M. Vieira show. He is the same honest, charismatic guy most people want him to be. I am Hungarian and have a lot of respect for him. Good bless.
The song they are singing must be an old melody probably from her generation. It sounds beautiful with the lyrics. The song is about reaching and having a star in the sky. It's also about love for an other person. "Van nekem az egen egy kis csillagom En neked lehozom Nekem az a csillag mindent elmesel...." "I have a little star in the sky I"ll bring it down to you This star will tell me everything....." The Hungarian translation is dream like and wishful almost like a fairy tale. Only a moth
I'm Hungarian Roma; born outside of Budapest and all, but I was adopted by White Americans as an infant. I'm so glad to see fellow Hungarians, especially non-Rom, singing my people's music. When Gene told a Hungarian radio station during an interview that this was a "Gypsy" song, the interviewers became very uncomfortable as they were obviously Antiziganist and didn't see Roma as fellow Hungarians, let alone Romani in general as fellow Europeans. They were so certain that it was some sort of White Hungarian traditional. I'm so glad that Gene acknowledges that all people in Hungary: Roma, Ashkenazi, Austrian, "pure Magyar", Turkish, Romanian and even those with slight Mongolian-descent, etc. are all equally Hungarian. We're a diverse country and many of the groups that people attack for not being "true Hungarian" still have ethnic "Hungarian" blood and roots, (I'm actually part Magyar myself), or belong to genetically similar Eastern European ethnic groups found throughout not only Central Europe and Eastern Europe, but also parts of the Balkans. We're all the same; there's no need to divide us. We're all proud Hungarians at the end of the day.
Hey man, I am South American, living in Hungary now, my wife and kids Hungarian, and I can tell most of the people is very welcoming. People in Hungry is not against Roma per se, it’s the way most of Roma people behaves that people here rejects, but because of racism
I'm Hungarian and I know a few Romas who are Hungarian and beside their look, they are just like normal people, because they are. They don't shout streets, you can have a normal, civilised conversatkon with them. I'm proud of them and of all the people.
Therefore she is a Hungarian Jew and I wish this video would be longer. Again, a wonderful way to thank his Mother for everything she has done for him. He is a great son. Thank Gene for entertaining us. An American-Hungarian lady.
I met him once. Was anything but an asshole. I'm an Australian-Hungarian, and he talked to me in Hungarian. A real cool, and seemingly, at least with his fans, a humble guy.
this is not a Hungarian countryside dialect the mother of gene speaks in but the one she spoke when she left Hungary in the late 40's...so this is rather obsolete but cute and respectable and I am so proud of her and Gene to have kept it alive... THANK U and may the lord be with u all
