I agree with the main thesis of this video. Access to resources is too closely associated with success in elite sport (not just basketball). This relationship has always existed to some degree, but it is becoming more and more pronounced. If you take this trend forward, you end up destroying the sport... can you imagine watching pro sports if only the top 1% of the population have access to play? As such leagues have a vested interest to regulated this. A large proportion of revenues should be directed towards improving access and opportunity to less privileged kids (not just in the US, but across all markets). It really is in the best long term interest of the sport. Elite athleticism is beautiful, and efforts should be made to preserve this. Current players and owners have benefitted from the athletes that came before them, I hope they have the wisdom, morality, and strength to see they owe something to the future of the game as well.
This video is missing the point. yes all of the points here are somewhat valid. but it can also swing the other way. Lebron mad it out of poverty through hard work and talent. if his son wants to play basketball of course he is going to give him all the support he can get. it's not "fair" or "unfair" that's just the world we live in. Case in point is Donovan Mitchel's mum. she did all she could to make sure her son got the best opportunity to make it to the NBA. the whole "private jet", "private chef" part of this videos didn't make any sense to me. it's not unfair that Bronny has access to all those things. he's Dad worked hard to make sure they can afford those things.
