Man that thing sounds phenomenal! The compression it gives on the fat chords is so smooth but the lead stuff has great attack!
Mr. Pete...you can make kite string sound great! Jam on
Dammit! I was gonna say that! Well, not the kite string analogy - that was a good one.
delicious tone and playing Pete. You give the best demos on RUclips my friend. God bless
Thank you so much!
Dear god you are making that Les Paul sing. That pedal sounds incredible!
Thanks!
I know Jim Hagerman and the designer quite well (initially from the high end audio world), really talented engineer. I have the overdrive version of this pedal and love it! I especially like adding it to an amp that already has gain, it's like having another tubr gain stage Without having to mod your amp, blends in well with a distorted tube amplifier pretty much better than just about any other overdrive pedal I have tried.
Does it tighten up the lowend much like a ts808/ts9?
That lick at 6:13-6:15 is sick! Nice playing and great tones.
Sounds awesome Pete right my street. Great demo!
The first minute of this video did it for me...killer tone Pete... And your playing is definitely in the pocket.. It feels good... You have been such an inspiration to me....thank you.
There is something about an EF86 tube tone that makes my day everytime!
Yaron LP into the Komet...WOW!! I sat up and took notice. Well done sir!
Came for the pedal demo, but stayed for the sweet riffage. Nice chops (as always), Pete. 😎👍🏻
Most important for me was how it boosted the clean channel without causing distortion! Nicely done bro :)
So it can boost cleanly and enhance the crunch of already distorted tones as well! F Ya
Soooooo tempting
That lp sounds smokin!!! So crunchy and aggressive! Sick song btw too!
At first I thought it sounded okay. Didn't realize you started with the pedal off, when you turned on the sound was great!!! very full sounding
OMG!That Komet amp sounds killer!
OK, the pedal sounds good, but DAMN does the kick drum sound KILLER on this track Pete! Well done!
Full Bohnam! :)
Nice kit sound on the demo. The (internal?) mic on the kick was sweet. That little Princeton really came alive. Nice.
Finally dusting off that Komet! My dream amp. Freakin’ killer!
Late to the party here but this looks like it would be sweet thru my 61 Princeton Very cool Pete good track too
Dude, this jam should be on an album. Tone sounds great too!
Thanks!
The red strat sounds great, similar to Blackmore! Well done.
I like your fancy tabletop pedal holder...aka vice. Your rock Mr. Thorn.
Pete, hot damn! You just kicked it with a great playing! Love it!!
You sure cost me a lot of money Mr. Thorn. EF86's are such a great preamp tubes...used in some of the old, classic Vox circuits that I love so much. What a killer front-end boost. And as always, tremendous playing.
Dr Z has put the ef86 into a lot of his amps. I've had a few. They're REALLY dynamic...very sensitive to pick attack. Very cool.
I love that vise you use to hold the pedals - still trying to find one I like
I definitely heard some Jeff Beck sounds in this !!! Nothing wrong with that! Slamming pedal.
I really love your videos... I have a JMP 50 w clon, handwired, and i use it clean and crunch it with a Plexitone clon (in Argentina everything is so expensive!!). But i’ve learn so much From you!! Now i’m getting close to the tone that i always wanted.... thank you, Pete... really thanks!!
Mike and Hogy would be proud you’re using their Concorde! All their amps are killer!
It sounds so damn good in this video doesn’t it? Really nice. The mids are just luxurious
Pete Thorn their amps are so damn versatile and it sounds so killer in this demo man. Top notch as always Pete.
Hogy is an absolute gentleman too. Sorted my old AC30s beautifully.
That sounded fucking awesome into the komet
Sounds great in all applications. Really want one now.
You are the man with the tasty licks my friend : )
Hi Pete ... one of your best riffs, i loved them! 0:21
Sounds great Pete 🎸🎵🤟great demo
That is sweet sounding. Love your channel and reviews.
Great sound mr Pete
Killin it Man! Duel leads sound phenomenal! Dude you inspire me to up my game on guitar. Love your vids! That pedal sounds incredible. Thanks Man!!!
Thanks man!
Sounds great, thanks Pete!
Sounded great kicked in on the clean sound.👌
holy shit that kick almost blew out my speakers
Amazing as always! Love it!
GY + Komet + Hagerman = tone for days!!!!
Regards from Italy
Sounded killer in front of the pt15 clean channel!
Really good right? Great light gain tones
Digging the new hairstyle, man... (amazing playing as usual, that's implicit)
Thanks!
my favourite preamp tube!! Why dont more people use these???
Sounds excellent my brother! And very easy to use. 🤘
All tones great.
God, I love hearing you play.
Thanks Dan!
Nice work on this Pete! Great playing and you seemed to get the most out of this pedal. Might possibly have to ponder if I need yet another overdrive, lol.
Sounds great Pete!
Just here to see the Red Signature Guitar which I ordered today! 🎸🔥😀
That’s awesome man thanks! It really is one of my favorite guitars
Pete, this LP, is it a Gilyaron Réplica? Congrats for your job and your chanel!!
uaaaa! pt-15 crunch - sick tone!
Interesting pedal! I wonder how it compares to Fryette’s Boostassio (and/or S.A.S.) since also use the EF86 tube. Killer tone coming out of the Hagerman for sure! I have the Fryette S.A.S. myself, and although it seems to be a different circuit, I can definitely hear a similar “sizzling howl” on the sustained bends (like from 06:00 onwards) coming out of the Hagerman, which I believe is related to the character of the EF86 tube. Great job BTW!
Luv this $hit! The Eskimos are just buried in ICE... Killer crunchy licks on this demo man!
Man that extra oomph it gives the bottom end is friggin delicious
Sweet as always!
Sounds great. That lick @6:11 is bad ass! Reminds me of Schenker.
Killer sound! Plus at $220 on Reverb not an insane price all things considered.
I love tube powered pedals!
Pete, have you tried the Kingsley or Delisle ef86 pedals?
Fryette makes EF 86 pedals I had the boost and now SAS pedal waited a long time for someone to make a new pedal. EF86 sounds great with the Vox circuit.
I’ll have to try those! Didn’t even know that
@@PeteThorn The boost is called the Boostassio I used it with the Class 5, it made it a bit more bigger sounding and more dynamic. The SAS can be used as a clean boost with a tad of grit and when turning the gain up its a slight crunch to full on fuzz. Steve designed it to sound like a small vintage amp thats on a verge like the speaker is blowing up in a good way lol kinda like old Neal Young's tone IMO.
Pete, sounds tits up! Interesting pedal for sure. Your playing is tops dude!
One thing I'd like to mention is, I've noticed the more amps and guitars and equipment I have the more I have to divide my attention to everything I have. Your saying that about your amp is a perfect example!! You said "I don't know why I don't use that amp more, it sounds great" I tell ya, It's like having way too many girlfriends!!!! It sucks because in the end you are driven crazy (at least this happens to me) so I came to the conclusion for now to use only the very best sounding equipment and guitars, and NOT by how much it cost me but how well it sounds...
Now It all makes so much more sense, and sticking to certain guitars and equipment enables one to REALLY get to know an instrument and gear. Mentally I'm more sane (at least I believe this) lol
Yeah, I can't help it but I think I'm a one girl is enough type of guy lol
Just thought I'd share that, anybody else go through this out there?!
It’s really true man. You have to balance it, amount of stuff you mess around with with your time.
I’ve been cleaning up and selling everything else. Keeping only what I have enough power out let’s for. Plenty of “stuff” but not too much. I’m going to stop buying all gear unless I really need to fix a problem. IMO at some point one just needs to make what they have sound the best they can. Cheers!
What speakers are you using there? thanks...great playing and pedal
It’s all impulse responses except for the parts with the Princeton reverb. I’m doing them in the computer, blending some close micd and room mic in.
Any piece of gear that can produce a bouncy, tight and punchy CHUG as that thing appears to do, will work for anything I play.
Get the fuggoutta here!
My God man. Stellar player.
Thanks Joey!
Pete, your videos are always inspiring. I love this pedal or device if that's more appropriate. GOD truly meant for you to play guitar !!
komet sounds fantastic. boost sounds great. do you know what value cap was switched to?
You would have to ask Dave Friedman. Amp really does sound terrific though it’s so rich in the mid range
It seems priced to sell. $219 is in the same area as most modern high quality small-maker pedals. Cool pedal.
I wonder if this would be almost like adding an EF86 channel to an AC30/6TB. I love that amp, just wish it had an EF86 channel like the UK Heritage series.
Man your GOOD!!!
Thanks man!
That pedal looks like something from the Russian base in Civil War in the final battle.
I’d love to hear it cleaner through the clean amp
I use the Kingsley Page... Similar concept. How much was that Yaron like 12 grand?
I got the Friedman Motor City Drive. Not sure... you want me to ditch it, Pete? ;-)
Damn that was nice!!!
Huh. Doesn’t running the EF86 into a 12ax7 driven loop or preamp defeat the purpose? As in the wiser dynamic range of the former is then bottlenecked by the narrower range of the latter? No snark intended, just curious.
If it sounds good, it is good!
That thing is like chili on a cold day yum
As always, I'd love to hear it on bass!
Cool song 👏👏
Sounds great !But How do I mount this on my board? The tube is due to get wrecked on a let's suppose a Pedaltrain
One of the most delicate valves ever made...in a pedal. Sounds great though.
Yeah I would probably carry a spare or two! EH makes them so they’re not too expensive
EF86s are cool
Killer...as usual!
When will the jam track / songs (linked in the description) be available outside the US (-> Germany) ?
Been thinking about a way to make them all available via Patreon
Thx & have a „virusfree“ weekend. Greetings from 🇩🇪
Could it be used on a bass pedal board as a pre-amp for a direct signal? I use a EBS sheehan pedal for my real distortion but my clean tone could use a bit of punch more so than dirt.
Yeah iv played a komet a lil bit , pretty nice .
So- it's a Butler Tube Driver with an EF86 instead of an 12AT7... hmmm. Sounds good though- maybe a bit better then I can ever get my Tube Driver- I don't know how EJ, Dave and AT do it and make the thing sing so well.
I would Loooove to hear this on the loop of say.. A Boss Katana, just like a tube stage to "warm" it up and give it that tube feel.
Reminds me a bit of the Bogner La Grange.
Gasp what a tone!! AC 30???ish
Would this tighten up the low end enough for drop A/G# or more just adding another gain stage?
Wondering how tight it is too
Nice!
Doubling 9 volts doesn't meet the current requirement of "proper voltage". Most amps run it between 90 and 200v. Vox is at about 204 which is part of its high fi style Vox sound.
It's probably a small quarter sized torroidal tansformer with a dual 120v primary ran in parallel with 9v to 18v secondary ran in series...should rectify and filter out to about 240v.
Internal tube supply is +240V!!!
A pre amp into a pre amp into power amp ?
Sounds killer. Although given how delicate EF86's are you'd have to treat your board very very gently.
Yeah I would probably pick up a spare or two, they aren’t expensive EH makes them
@@PeteThorn I have a bunch of NOS EF86s for an amp I have but yeah probably would want a more affordable option to plonk in something to be stomped on :-)
Brian May tone?
Butter!!
how about this into a cab m+, helix stomp ,or iridium?
I saw Dave Grohl standing in the corner. Pedal is great!
