Vocabulario:
enero - January
febrero - February
marzo - March
abril - April
mayo - May
junio - June
julio - July
agosto - August
septiembre - September
octubre - October
noviembre - November
diciembre - December
¿Cuál es la fecha de hoy? - What is the date today?
Hoy es el # de mes. - Today is the # of month.
primero - first
¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños? - When is your birthday?
Mi cumpleaños es el # de mes. - My birthday is the # of month.
el día de la Independencia - Independence Day
la Navidad - Christmas
el día de San Valentín - Valentines Day
el día de los espíritus - Halloween
You could use both in that one.
¿Cuál es___? --> which is ... that is .... 'which of all the days is independence day?'
versus
¿Cuándo es __? --> when is
@1eyesnipe
two basic ways...
¿Cuál es su nombre? (¿Cuál es el nombre de él?) = What is his name?
¿Cómo se llama (él)? = What does he call himself?
That's very kind of you to say! ¡Gracias! and thanks for watching!
This might help:
¿cuál? = Which / What (used with more than one option)
ex: ¿Cuál es la fecha de hoy?
(What[which] is the date today?)
¿Cuándo? = when
ex: ¿Cuándo es el día de la Raza?
(When is Columbus Day?)
Thanks for your videos. I teach Spanish in China and use your videos as practice examples and reinforcement of the material covered in class. My students have learned a lot from watching your work. They are a great help to those who are very visual.
Gracias
+Ivan Quezada Thanks for your comment! I'm glad to find out that the videos have been helpful to your students! ;-) Tell them "hola" from me.
Ivan Quezada I
Thank you for responding! And would love to see your new launch of videos! Can't wait again You Rock Sr. Jordan!!!
It would be very helpful if you made a video for the season and gave a easy way to remember them.
Verano summer, otoño ottom, invierno winter, primavera spring i speak spanish =)
ay ay ay, you're right... I'll fix that soon and re-upload it.
¡Gracias!
i'm a fast-any-language learner so for me the vids are just what i need, thanks bro,
muchisimas gracias, hombre)))
Thanks for making these! They really supplement my classes!
Cuál / Cuáles are used with choice between things when used with 'es' or 'son'
¿Cuál es el día mejor para ti?
-Which(What) is the best day for you?
'Qué' would be more of a definition.
¿Qué es el día mejor para ti?
-What is (define) 'the best day' for you?
Hope that made sense. Eventually I'm sure I'll have a lesson on the nuances.
El catorce de diciembre es mi cumpleanos! Great vid, and cool that we share a birthday!
@xarlesedwin
Tu comentario me hace pensar en uno de Inglaterra o de Australia que quiere corregir algún americanismo que digo porque no es 'correcto' en SU país. Las ideas de 'Correcto' o 'Incorrecto' son bien subjetivas en tal caso.
Hola. Sorry I didn't see this message until now.
¿Cuál es ___? = Which / What is ___?
¿Cuándo es ___? = When is ___?
/b/ and /v/ tend to have the same sound in Spanish. It's not quite our /b/ or /v/, but the sound in Spanish is closer to our /b/.
Muchas gracias ^^
You are inspiring for me to learn espanol.I am go in to watch all your videos. They are very useful for me .
Gracias Senor jordan
Dude. I don't always drop a "like" (but I do my darndest to circle back and click it), but I just wanted to say thanks.
Your vids are awesome. Take care
@lonedarkwolf
They could both work. In the second one... it is impied (the verb tells us that we're talking about something)
So if someone asked you "¿Cuándo es la Navidad?" and you know you're talking about it... you could respond:
"Es en el invierno."
no lie all your videos are awesome! I am working witha kid who just came from cuba in a class thatim volunteering and this will be helpful...
My spanish teacher taught this but watching this it is easier to understand. Thanks!
El "uno" de is from Spain. I believe there is an annotation in the video clarifying that it can be used. Thanks.
Thanks, this is helping me study for my Spanish quiz tomorrow (it's on seasons, months, days of the week, and forms of the verb "ser")
Hey Sr. Jordan you need to make new videos loved your lessons got me through my Spanish classes back in 2013 and 2014 now my kids are watching your videos!!! you are Awesome!
Thanks for the kind message! Glad the vids were helpful to you! I am working on some new ones, I promise. :-)
+Senor Jordan I love you videos and I hope to see more videos see you net
¡gracias por tu colaboración!
@sukoskamilo
Sip. Es cierto que lo dicen de las dos formas. Soy de los Estados Unidos.
We share the same birthday! Great videos from a guy with a great birthday, I'm learning a lot =)
it's "enero' but the single 'r' between vowels is a single tongue flap which some might think sounds more like a 'd' in English.
In England we usually put the number before the month when telling the date e.g. the thirtieth of March. I think I hear March thirtieth more in USA.
Happy B-day... Feliz cumpleanos
GRACIAS MUCHO.
Thank you soooo much!! Your videos are helping me very much with Spanish!! Keep it up!
Blake Berry That's wonderful! Thanks for letting me know!
Thank you for all the videos. Am having good time learning.
in australia we do say the date 'of' the month, so the 07/24/2011 would be the 24th of July or 24/07/2011
Just in time for the example, hoy es el uno de mayo en Filipinas. Thanks for this awesome channel :)
what is the difference between "cuando: anad "cual"????????
thanks sooooo much for ur great effort
THANK YOU.
Easy to understand and very helpful! ¡Muchas gracias, Señor!
¡Feliz cumpleaños!
from the students at Cal-Wheat School!
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
Feliz anos nuevos!
This really helps me with my Spanish class thxs
Actually, I prefer my Reeses shirt
Kevin Rodriguez hehe
@Jackson Maker Peanut butter snickers. #nuffsaid
@amirabarbary
¿cuándo? = when?
¿cuál? = what? / which?
you are really good i am learning really fast
thank you for the videos it helps me remember words from school
muy bien pronunciado Gracias! y te lo digo porque mi primer idioma es espanol.
Is it just me or he said my Birthday 🥳
@tontitofrito El primero es comúnmente usado en Latinoamérica, pero es INCORRECTO. Se debe decir "Uno de enero", por ejemplo.
Using Cual your saying what but when using Cuando your saying when. Hope that helps!
Your video are absolutely great, thank you!
Gracias! I am just going to start watching your videos as study guides! THEY ARE PERFECT! :)
Wow 😲😲😲😲😲
Nice.
Thank you very much!! :)
Spanish final Wednesday.....your videos are awesome!
your videos are helping me to better learn and understand Spanish. pls keep it up. thanks
oh my gosh your awesome!
though spanish is a latin language and english isnt, the months in english are a LOT closer to the latin months then the spanish months are.
very helpful ty
Thank you so much you are very helpful. PS is that your favorite shirt
@sandybran
gracias por aclararlo.
In addition to el primero de ... el UNO de Mes is acceptable as well. Listen to the song "A Pamlona hemos de ir" it varies among countries region. No right or wrong here, just preference.
¡Muchísimas gracias! :-)
also having a hard time using... CUAL,COMO and Cuando....sometimes CUANDO means CUAL?.. COMO sometimes HOW and Que or The? also Lo que and Se... im having a hard time..please teach on how to use those kind of words
@MrzRocRoyal12
Looks like someone turned off the annotations. ;-) Maybe you should leave them on because I explain things (sometimes small errors) through the annotations.
mucho gracias
thankyouu:)
if you were to say "Christmas is during the winter season" would it be "La Navidad es en el invierno" or would it be "es en el invierno"?
Very gooooood, veerrryy gooooooooooooooodddd.
This is an excellent video, but please fix the error. When you are asking about Halloween, the translation is still asking about Valentine's Day. Why not have it be perfect?
it was awesome and helpful
This is really helpful. Thanks!
These are awesome! And necessary--just reviewing, as I am, it's amazing how many mistakes I make for simple things when I have to come up with the words myself (like, answering that Halloween is on "diez y cuatro." D'oh!) These are easy to understand and good for learning and reviewing. Thanks for making them.
¡qué curioso! No lo sabía... gracias. ;-)
Really easy and helpful, Thanks! :)
its a lot like english from america, england and austrailia we all speak english but we have different words and ways of saying things
i have a question, im having a hard time pronouncing the "r" correctly cuz i cant really roll my tongue. is there anyway to help with this?
I can't think of anything. Typically in titles in Spanish (for movies, books, etc), you'll only capitalize the first letter of the first word and the rest is not capitalized.
I believe you mean to say "Spaniards" since you're generalizing the people from Spain. Thanks for letting us know that.
In Latin America, from my understanding, 'el primero de ____' is quite common.
In regards to Cual. I know I dont have the accents in there or upside down question marks. But just like the question: Que dia es hoy? Could you say: Que es la fecha de hoy? Instead of Cual?
Awesome Videos, keep it up!
cool. good job
¡Gracias! ;-)
I like ur video senor Jordan
k thx
hoy es sabado oktubre nueve !!
gald to see which ones sound like v instead of b
What is the difference between Spanish from Spain and Spanish from Mexico
Why do you use el when saying Cuando es la Navidad instead of Cuando es Navidad? Same for Halloween?
I need to know how to write the titles "Days of the Week" and "Months of the Year". Thanks!
is it "cual" or "cuando" when you ask about the date? because i saw 2 "cual"
while others where "cuando", so which one?
También pueden decir "Hoy es primero de mayo"
So how do you say "the first of May" then?
Your lessons are very, very, helpful. Do you have any lesson on llevar to wear I believe I said it right. Can you help me with es or son, and un/unos or una/unas?
Good lad
hello, thank you very much, you re THE TEACHER that i wanted.......its won t be easy but i ll try with your help (because i m french, some of the worlds are almost the same)
Gracias Senor Jordan, asta pronto ! ( jijijij)
why we are using cual not que?
Are there any other proper nouns that are not capitalized other than months and weeks?
Sure, it's completely fine to answer in a complete sentence.
I tell my students that it's important to understand how to make the sentences in class and for the tests... but when you're talking to someone, if the short way is easier, just go with whatever works as long as it makes sense.
