Honestly, you deserved to be paid by Fujifilm for such good services provided to its consumers, services that even Fujifilm does not provide. Congratulations for everything you do for photography and photography community. Greeting from Brazil!
Thanks for your kind words. Being paid by Fujifilm would mean they would get some measure of control over my scripts and videos - and neither you or I want that. Also, please say hello to my friends in Brazil.
3/4 of the way through the video I realized that I don't have any Fuji gear. But I watched it all the way, just because of how much I like this channel 😂.
Another fine and detail review with excellent instructions. Although I don’t even have the H2 or H2S, I do enjoy watching your video. I do have the X-T5 as I don’t do video.
I own a Fujifilm X-H2 but I would never by a network grip. I watched the video just to see you explaining somethig. Do you know any internet forum that Fujifilm might read? I'd like to post some software ideas that in my opinion would improve the usability of the X-H2. Maybe there is a small chance Fujifilm follows my ideas.
@@MaartenHeilbron Hi Marteen, I'm using the X-H2 since October 2022 and for me it is a fantastic camera with some improvement potential. Part 1: Making the Secondary LCD Monitor much more useful 1.) When turning the mode dial to C1, ..., C7 the LCD should display the name of the custom setting for a second. This would help me a lot to choose the recipe I want to use. 2.) When pressing any button to change a parameter (ISO, WB etc.), the LCD should display this parameter only. This would enable me to change parameters without looking at the main LCD. I know I can see changes in the secondary LCD but only for parameters configured to be displayed and I have to concentrate strongly. To make ot short: When pressing a button the secondary LCD should display the same as the main LCD. 3.) During an interval timer shooting the seconday LCD should display the image counter and total number of images configured. This would enable me to turn off the main LCD. Part 2: Custom Modes 1.) The advantage of the X-H2 compared to the X-T* cameras when configuring custom modes is, that I can save more in a custom mode (e. g. focus mode, drive mode, shutter speed, aperture). But this sometimes is also a disadvantage. I can't take an image with the same exposure settings with different recipes I have stored! To have this option I'd like to be able to choose if all settings are stored in a custom mode or only some. To make it not too complex it should be done by categories like image quality, focus mode, drive mode. If you think these ideas are not nonsense I'd be happy when you pass them to Fujifilm. Maybe also they like it and there is a small chance that some features are included in a future software version. Best Regards, Andreas
Thank you Maarten for this video. Does the grip extend video recording time like it did with X-T2? What is the maximum recording time of 4K 30fps? Cheers.
The grip is not needed to extend recording time which is limited by card space (you can switch cards while recording) or battery life (you can power from any USB-C (PD) power source or overheating (no fix).
As I indicated in my first reply, I'm not aware of this, so I image that this camera does not support it. I'll have to learn more. Is it a standard, or an offering from a specific vendor? Which camera models do support NDI?
@@MaartenHeilbron Google Newtek NDI tools. Most modern PTZ cameras (robotic cameras) have it and Atomos Ninja V and V+ started supporting it recently. I use both for streaming but as a Fuji user I was hoping they would make the grip NDI compatible.
I see, so it's a NewTek product and standard. Although I appreciate your interest, not sure why a manufacturer would choose to support this kind of niche standard.
thisThis particular feature is what made me jump to Sony and leave Fujifilm after five years of using Fujifilm equipment professionally..I was shocked by the price of the vertical grip..it is a thousand dollars for a feature that is already present in Sony A7iii cameras..so I sold all the equipment and moved to Sony, where you can find the advantage of transferring files using FTP technology without buying an additional piece. My current camera is A7M4
So ultimately an a7m4 with equivalent battery life is over $3k. An xh2 plus battery grip is $3k. It adds an Ethernet port and other features and camera to cloud. I’m with you I wouldn’t buy it. But then they dropped the price to $600

Hello! 🎉🎉
Do you know how is the trasnfer speed performance compared to the usb c cable? I have a x-h2 and plan to use it with capture one.
Sorry, did not test that. I would assume it's the same.
Welcome back)
Nice to be back, thanks for the kind words.

Battery im complet ?
The grip does not include batteries.
Does the video support NDI?
May I ask, What is NDI?
@@MaartenHeilbron it's the easiest solution to network video, and if it's combined with POE cameras (power over Ethernet) it's a bliss.

Right, it’s a much as some cameras. The four camera video remote setup is unique though.

I still kept my XH-1 grip and camera…got both for sale a few years ago for $850 no tax before online stores had to charge tax.
Thanks!
Your kind and generous contribution is greatly appreciated, thanks!
