- The 125d is back for another tyre test!
Last time, we compared the differences between the new Advan Neova AD09 and there predecessor, the AD08 RS.
This time, we're at Donington Park, putting the street and track oriented AD09's against the race ready A052's to see which is the best set up for your track car! 😎🏁

The A052 needs more negative camber to work - while the stiff sidewalls of the AD09 helps it cope better with running street alignments on the track. If this was retested with -3 degrees front and back I firmly believe we'd see a larger time gap between the two tyres.
The 125d doesn't show the massive difference between the two tyres because of the chassis limit. The A052 is basically the same as the A050 with poorer wear characteristics. We tested the two tyres at Sydney Motorsport Park in a time attack Evo and there was a 2.2 second difference between them with a pro driver.
Sorry, not really clear - which tyre was faster in your test? Would you say the A050 is a better tyre than a A052 as far as raw performance is concerned then?
@@nesmio7378 A050 is better than A052 in terms of endurance but peak grip levels are similar. The A052 drops off sharply in performance after a few hot laps but the A050 doesn't.
Yeaa now i’m definitely getting myself AD09, thank you!
Very surprised how well the AD09 went, should be an awesome tyre for tarmac rally and mountain road driving with the occasional track day :D
Very impressive, i dont think I've ever seen a comparison video with data like this before.
So good hey. Need more of these comparisons.
For a single time-focused lap the A052s are faster, but for longevity the AD09s last much longer I found. On wet conditions the AD09s grip pretty well too.
If you are doing trackdays only we like the AD09.
Will the AD09 cure understeer since I run street camber on track?
And if I want to do sessions of 20 on and 40min off, which would you recommend?
@@DarksideDevelopments
@@josefinkjellsson7051 Sorry to butt in but as a person who's used both, if you're going to do 20 sessions go for the AD09s. The A052s are stickier but don't last as long as the 09s, especially if you're not gonna be super competitive.
@@Foiiiii1 dont mind you buttin in at all, this is the pit talk and I value your experience.
I’m not chasing 100th so your on point with that.
I have ran federal 595 RS pro with 200 TW and I liked it, this season I ran r888 with 100 TW and they were great for 2-3 laps and then overheated and got greasy. I think the 052 are similar to r888 and the 09s similar to the federals?
Can t wait for the v12 amrock drift missile. Keep it coming guys.
Interesting comparison.
Thank you 👍
Ad52s are much expensive!
I'm in love by design of Ad09. Probably Will be my next tires. Now pilot sport 5. Great tires!
Thanks mans!
I'll wait for the AD09R to be sure :D
Interesting video. Seems like maybe the AO52 didn't perform optimally, and could have been quicker with more negative camber and some coilover tweaking? I'm trying to decide on some tyres for a ring trip & as a wet option on trackdays alongside slicks. My car's set up for slicks with a lot of negative camber though. Seems like the AO52 would work well with this setup, but what about the AD09? Am I going to struggle to get the tyre flat to the ground with so much neg camber?
I think you would be happy with either. We still use the A052 as our tyre of choice on our race cars, as these do perform slightly better, but the AD09s are really not far behind and very good for the price. The AD09s are also better suited to the road if you are driving their on them
brilliant work and thank you for your help previously with these still wish they did them for 15" but love the content!
According to their website both are available in 15"
@@dashbee3264 interesting as 2 months ago it didn’t and no time scales for them to be released if at all
Definitely available in 15” and not much between them in price.
I’m considering the two in 205/50r15.
$215 AD09
$260 A052
(Australian dollars)
Looks like the A052 have more tread though which may bring them even closer in price still.
@@TKayCO only just announced here in europe where as 3 months ago when I commented said wouldn’t do them. The ad09 has more tread surely
@@KevMk3 I see. Apparently the A052 has a fair bit more tread (and is more square) on the outside corner suitable for higher camber.
Belle vidéo 👌 😉
Very informative test. Thank you. Are you using any amount of filtering to the acceleration data?
Not on this particular vehicle
Awesome. Ryan good one at 5:00 LMAO 🤣
6:30 this is exactly the problem i had with my a052 to finding the right air pressure to have even temp numbers from inside to outside. Without running ridiclous camber
Also did i miss what tire sizes u were testing?
I am suprised the ad09 are a abit more noisy.
It sounds like the ad09 will be good contender for your wet track sessions on your TCR cars.
If the AD09 would last longer than the A052 this would be the perfect tire for me. Both have TW200. Which i think is rly too optimistic for the A052
Would love to see another comparison to the bridgestone potenza race tires vs the ad09
245/35 18s. The wet test is yet to come but soon!
A052 are 120 TW at best
@@DarksideDevelopments yeah fully agree with 100-120 tw
Have you guys had any contact with the potenza race tires in the past?
Or are they new to you guys as well?
Not much but we have seen slower cars run them if that's anything to go by
Can I ask what hot pressures you were targeting on the AD09’s? I previously ran the RT660’s, I like that these are an a-symmetric tire because they can be moved around instead of just front to back.
29psi ;)
@@DarksideDevelopments What temps were you seeing? I had 65-68 degrees on the front loaded side on a fairly heavy AWD car (A45).
AD09s are fantastic in the wet!
Can't wait to try!
Very interesting video 👌🏻 but more importantly who plays with the rolled up road mat 😆
Obviously it's me (the kids really!)
How are the ad09's in terms of aquaplanning? Are they going to be safe for commuting to work in the rain?
They can be used as a road tyre but they are track focused so probably best off in dryer weather
ad09 or Michelin pilot super sports?
I mean people are comparing the ad09's to the cup 2's and saying its better due to stiffer sidewall.
AD09, PSS are old
scott, you ok? you ok scott?
you should ask mr advan for some gt wheels, look lovely wrapped in there tyres them :D
Are Yokohama going to be producing the ad09 in smaller sizes? I.e 195 or 205/50/15
17" will be the smallest size they do in europe
@@DarksideDevelopments ah that’s a shame, but I suppose understandable as a 15 is a rare thing these days! Looks like I need to move to a new platform to utilise them
@@ocracing6102 just got a set of 205/50/15 ad09, yes ad09 mounted on my delsol today. Most websites/suppliers don’t have them but they DO make them, they are listed right in the Yokohama website as an available size. Simpletire (the website) has them currently that’s were I purchased them from.
@@N-Collective oooh thanks for that. Appreciate it
What is the rough price for ad09 in 225/45/17? Shows on back order with the manufacturer on website.
Drop us an email to sales@darksidedevelopments.co.uk we'll be able to give you price
you can see a smidge of side eye at 5:01 like he knows whats coming
Hi, do you think that putting A052 front and AD09 rear would work? (500HP+ E92)
Sounds like it would be very sideways! Can sometimes get away with it on front wheel drive to help get the back out but rear wheel drive would be a handful!
205 50 15 ad09 x 2 how much
That's not a size they make.
Get a wind blocker for your mic for god sake
Be honest is this channel sponsored by yoko?
Our tyre sponsor for racing is Yokohama
Advan is not for shity german cars such as bmw. Use you european tyres if you find them ahaha
