- Offered for sale is this absolutely stunning example of the first generation Thunderbird from Ford, a 1956 model in gorgeous Thunderbird Green over matching two-tone leather. This immaculate vehicle was given a frame-off restoration in the 1980s, and remains in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition today. The very high quality paint gleams and feels soft to the touch, and the interior is in very good condition with fresh leather, and original trim throughout. The hard and soft tops come with the vehicle, with the hard top in Colonial White, and the soft top in white - both seal extremely well and look great - the soft top was new less than a year ago. Mechanically, the optional 312ci V8 fires right to life, and runs extremely well - it is all original and numbers matching. The Ford-O-Matic gearbox shifts very well, and the brakes work as well as 1956 engineering allows. All in all, this is a show quality classic Thunderbird ready for showing, driving and collecting. There are some minor paint and cosmetic flaws on the car, and two known mechanical issues - the underdash AC is not working very well, and the car has to be started in neutral. Additionally, the factory radio does not operate. Otherwise, all accessories appear to be working as they should, and the car runs and drives very well - please see the video for more information and a test drive.

The thing that is amazing is that if it was restored in the 80's, it has likely been longer since the restoration was done to now than the car was old when the resto was done.
My dad has a 56 in this exact color. Funny how taste change bc people hated this color in the 90s when he took it to shows and now they love it

@@darrinaleman5973 what a loss an waste. Those cars would provide a comfy retirement if needed. I have a huge weakness for the big Healy's. There out of reach now for people like me that aren't rich. Had 2 beaters when I was young an then a pretty decent one a drunk totaled while it was parked.
