Couple thoughts: These guys are all getting OLD like we all are. Undertow (major label debut) was released in 1993…. So they’re all 60 or pushing 60 years old… For me, their albums are complete packages and their library represents a change in worldview through time and perspective… Undertow - I’m angry and frustrated Aenima - My anger has been misplaced - I understand my problems are my own and come from within. I will fix myself because I can Lateralus - I will work on myself to recognize my flaws and grow as a human by doing so, and I hope you will too 10,000 Days - The world will get in the way of your journey. Fear Innoculum - I am me and the world is the world, I may not like the world or agree with it, but I will not let it control me
As a fan of Tool who is catching you for the first time, I appreciate the fact that you notice that it is NOT about the singer, Tool is a collaboration of all of it's members. Everyone is an equal, that is what makes them what they are. Will follow to see what you have to offer, love how you feel the music.
From what I've read, Adam, Justin, and Danny (guitarist, bassist, and drummer) bring their own ideas, and they jam with each other and work out the music. This can take a long time, because they're all very particular and perfectionist about the final product. Then they give the finished music to Maynard and he comes up with lirics and vocal melodies. Adam has said they're sometimes surprised where Maynard chooses to sing and which parts he leaves instrumental. Once he has settled in lyrics he might ask the band to lengthen or repeat a section. But you know they never just repeats a section. They have to iterate on it. So there's another "perfecting the music" phase. It's a lengthy process.
Awesome reaction :) You felt the music on this one for sure. Plus you got it right! This song is about an old warrior and his struggles, going for a final fight against an unbeatable enemy, or so to speak
and the final fight is against time, aging etc... also, no one has mentioned the reference to Ponce de Leon. He was a Spanish explorer in the 1500's who was searching for the fabled "fountain of youth". He landed on the east coast of Florida, around St. Augustine.
That Battle March you noted, that is what I wait 10 min for every time, I love that switch-up! It's like the groves leading up to it are awesome but you get this feeling that it's unresolved, like there is one piece missing from this awesome puzzle, and then they fit it in and it's like YES, that was it, that was the resolution, that's where this goes, where it always was going, the only place it could possibly go and isn't it Awesome!!!!
Spot on with your comment about the "marching into war". I think that's exactly the effect TOOL was trying to create. I've heard that section referred to as a "death march" before. Really cool stuff!
My Happy Place is watching TOOL Reactions. I hit subscribe once I saw you lose yourself into the music and fight back a grin at the beginning. And just to let you know that NEVER GOES AWAY!!!!
Love it, dude! When the night gets late, I really enjoy watching ppl react to tool. Your reaction is so good lol. Love it! I would recommend silverchair, emotion sickness, for another reaction. Not similar in sound, but the way it makes you feel... Yeah.
Thank you for giving tool a chance. I would love to see more. My recommendation would be to save Lateralus & Reflections(part 2 of the trinity) for particularly special days. In my opinion Lateralus is one of the greatest rock songs ever written. I would love to see a Parabol/Parabola reaction. The music video is the best way to experience those 2 songs as it combines them. If you show the video on screen your reaction will get blocked, but you can watch as we listen along. Just some thoughts. I loved this and am excited for more.
Chugity chug chug, chugity chug chug chug 😝 this in my opinion is a battle march. When the drums kick in with that crash the enemy is sighted and then when danny switches beat the charge is starting and then when adam slides the putch high is like a horn signaling the attack and then the song unleashes itself on the listener... Very cool 👌
Yessirrr that build up had me WAITING lmao! Qnd like you said I couldn't catch the riffs🤣 I was bopping my head 80 different ways to try to stay on tune🤣🤣 Very chill music. Definitely felt the mellow in this. Dope video bro! Thanks for the !so🙏🏾
Aaahh,..Yes,this is the 'studio' version but they play all this live solid... There is no added 'recording'' going on live it's just Men with instruments extending their Souls through art.
It's foreplay 😉 great reaction. This song is a fucking masterpiece I also think this wasn't the best choice for a new Tool listener. The tool army will come of you react to Tool..I say do all albums in order, then when you experience Invisible again, you may just break down in tears ( like me ..ugly cry)!
It's kinda how they write the music. Adam and Justin come up with riffs. Danny puts a "beat" to them. Maynard puts the lyrics after. When this album came out, Taylor Swift was releasing an album. It charted #1 beating her. And her fans were furious.
I have to stop the track because RUclips will block the whole video. If you read the title you would realize that I am new to this group. Instead of complaining how about bringing a solution to the table. Thank you for watching.
@@qostka dude in the video I talk about Tool’s transitions and went into detail about my interpretation of what this song made me feel like in the moment. To be honest you are the only one complaining about me missing something. Its a 12 to 13 min song I’m bound to miss something. I’m going to say this again I can’t listen to a song from beginning to end without stopping because RUclips will block the reaction video from being viewed. If I could I would but I can’t.
15:33 Completely, it's Danny on the drums and Justin on bass guitar making it sound like horses charging into battle
the open mind, closed eye reaction means it's authentic. 200% Feel the sting, feel the time bearing down.
Like 227 and subbed
Makes me cry everytime. Not music an experience. Thats Tool

I didn’t know that someone else mentioned it in the comments. I’m not familiar with this band but thank you for letting me know.

Maynard the singer also has had two bands while on break. Pucifer and A perfect circle
