- Andrew Scheps executes a @Dolby Atmos demo at @TheNAMMShow 2024. Using the Audeze LCD-X and @ChordElectronicsLtd new Alto headphone amp, to keep the listeners enveloped in the demo in such a noisy environment.
Thank you Andrew for mentioning HRTF measurement social biases!
Such a great insight. Very useful! Thank you Andrew!!! 👌🏾🙏🏽
Good job and sensible information!
Hey Chris Berens! Great to see you here at 1minute into this video, with Mr. Andrew Scheps! And of course he is right on all of this.
So few people are doing good Atmos mixes yet, what great Atmos mixes has Andrew done? I'd love to hear all this in practice.
Excellent - Mr Schepps is always an informative delight.
As it is hard to find a place to test the different Audeze headphones, I wondered if a full review, preferably with Andrew, would assist us in selecting which pair maybe best for our situation.
Yeah. I haven't listened to enough to completely conclude yet, However... In my limited experience so far, translation in Atmos sucks on headphone..... Usually, it's just kind of screws up the stereo filled without actually placing the instruments where them. I can see it being fun on something like earbuds... But if you're actually listening on a good pair of headphones, you're just f****** with the sound and you're not really placing instruments anywhere, at least that's so far my experience When I try to listen to an atmos mix on good headphones.
I would like to hear something Andrew has mixed to translate on headphones though! Maybe I just haven't heard anything that was really mixed to translate well yet!
Marketing, MaRkeTinG, MARKeting, marKETing...
If only yall hadn’t discontinued the LCD-1s you would’ve gotten my money.
I wonder what Audeze headphone he is wearing. LCD-X?
That's what it says in the description.
We had LCD-Xs for all the demo stations, but Andrew's actually wearing his LCD-MX4s.
@@AudezeHQ can you describe the difference? I own LCD-X.

✨✨👍🏻👍🏻
😎
I love Atmos and overall surround sound, but every recording studio is clueless how to do it, so they don't. There are almost zero songs that use it. BTW: Nothing he said helps anyone.
I've come to terms I'll never do atmos it could be the most amazing new cool thing and I'll still be doing stereo mixes 😂
I can't use cans at all. I have 8 pairs of speakers of all sizes from Auratones to big tri-amped 3-ways I switch between.
Headphones are critical to high end detailed mixing when u arent in a million dollar room.
@@josephschmizzo1595 Negative. If you think a set of cans replaces a "million dollar" room, your issues are vast. Mixing with headphones are fatiguing period, full stop. But, I understand they are a necessity for people who live in apartments or have kids they need to be quiet for. If you need to do that, I'm sorry. They can never replace having multiple sets of great speakers and a treated room.
@@nonsuch when did i say “replace?” They provide INSURMOUNTABLE “VALUE” because u can hear nuance in them that monitors dont show u unless ur in a perfectly treated, perfectly sized room.
U need headphones…period
@@josephschmizzo1595 You said "Headphones are critical to high end detailed mixing when u arent in a million dollar room" So if I'm in a million dollar room, I don't need the headphones, right?" Get real man. It's so funny how people with no clue will justify using headphones instead of speakers because they have no choice. Why not just say, your in a bedroom and can't afford great speakers and some room treatment? Pathetic. Headphones in real studios are for tracking only.
My mixes suck on headphones and monitors.
always funny to see how even industry legends, who have been around for decades, sell themselves if the price is right. andrew knows damn well that atmos is a marketing tool for apple, that soley exists for competitive reasons (staying competitive vs spotify) and has no auditive benefits whatsoever. money money money, my friends. all that counts, in our monkey brains.
I was thinking the same until I heard actual Dolby atmos audio content (music, audio book) on an actual Dolby Atmos sound system (Mercedes s class, nio et7, atmos studio).. it was absolutely mind blowing and really felt like a new audio dimension.
But yeah, the access to really experience this format is still super limited
@@ph9674 yeah i had a similiar experience last year at beatcon. mercedes had the new EQL and S Class with Dolby System there to show off. sounded okay (surround always sounds nice in a car, even 20 years ago in our companies w221 s class). then the drums came in and we had a hard time not starting to laugh... sounded like a dead jellyfish been dropped on the floor. the term "dolby snare" since established itself, if you know what i mean
That software is only £250 couldn't believe how cheap it is.
And it's still trash
More Atmos stuff that's interesting but useless for 99% of real world work.
