A Gripen pilot describes the feeling as not just stepping into the cockpit, but more like "you get dressed" with the airfighter, you became one with it
Short but gorgeous flight video above some High North valley. The pilot seems to get along with his jet like a cyclist would do on his/her bike in a climb down.
@@vignasimp2835 Not really it depends on what mission they are going to be used for. The f-35 has problem with numbers since they got a extremly high operational cost and because canada primarly use their airforce for patroling their airspace wich the gripen is better for it. You do not need stealth for bomber interseption it main advandage is for anti air supression and air to air combat with Su-35 fighters. Russian fighters got a operational range of 3500 km(russian claim so most likely its lower) and the distance between canada and russia is 6400 km. For bomber interseption the gripen is better suitead since they can have more of them covering a larger area and got the ability to have all types mordern missles. Canada is vast and one fighter cant cover the same area as 3 fighters can.
I work for a company that makes parts for this plane. It's amazing to see how it flies from time to time after being surrounded by his parts every day.
haha I know where this is. It's not quite as awesome when you see it from the ground, and you're woken up from a nap after not having slept for a few days. Still, appreciate the relative softness of the Gripen boom over the British and American planes, that's for sure. I sincerely wish that would have been a part of the consideration when we stupidly acquired the f-35 system: loud, long runway, and literally needs an industrial town's airstrip to even be serviced for one take-off. Did I mention it's absurdly loud?
What a showcase of just what a solid aero propulsive platform the Gripen is. BTW what transpired in both the Finnish and Canadian fighter competitions was a total farce. In both cases the Gripen was the standout candidate.
This is most likely shot from a in-cockpit mounted single-lens 3d camera with software for postproduction choice of any filmed 360 deg angle plus quite possible of camera + software stabilization...because the film looks incredible!!! Edit: It looks incredible as well, i am guessing for being filmed in 4K with at least >30 probably 60 fps.
@@Zastava101. You are a deceitful troll. Your reply is irrelevant and furthermore Ukraine did not buy Russian fighters. Their aircraft were inherited from when Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union. Ukraine needs modern fighter jets like the Saab Gripen.
@@iakona23 Thanks for the kind remarks. With your reasoning one could argue that it should be possible to get an insurance after an accident has happened. Completely illogical and deviated from reality.
@@Zastava101. Ukraine was a part of the Soviet Union back then, and after the Soviet Union broke up, the Russians left alot of MiG-29s and SU-27s in Ukraine, so better learn history before saying pointless things.
@@vmpgsc gripen pilots train at 30 meters over land. That's the lowest they will go. Alot lower than NATO doctrine. Fun story there was a US warship visiting Sweden and two Viggen planes was called in to greet them. @@andersmalmgren6528 For sure! I was referencing the Top Gun: Maverick footage of F-18Es at low level: the editors sped up the footage to make it seem like the planes were doing way past Mach 1 at about the same altitude as the Gripen in the video above. LOL.

What if suddenly large number of scattered underground 30 mm machine guns pop up, their operators visually spot the terrain hugging fighter jet and direct fire at it against which the aircraft's sophisticated electronic counter measures do not work even if it can stave off a laser guided MANPADS and have sophisticated wide band jamming system against ground based radars and against IIR seekers as well?

I also heard that one but "You don't sit in it, you wear it" is a better translation.

Greetings from Brazil..My country purchased This spectacular plane.
Hello from Canada! Too bad our government chose F-35 and not these beautiful machines.
The F-35 is the best plane on the market

20:80 F-35:Gripen ratio would cover all the necessities - air combat, surveillance, strike, interception, cover with long range, recognition..
I think the Rafale is the most beautiful non-stealth plane. But the Gripen rocks
I am also disappointed in 🇨🇦 choice! I know that 🇸🇪 SAAB had a tremendous great offering on the table!! There are too much politics involved!💀
This is really fantastic.
Such nice scenery and such good moves through it.
Thanks for sharing!
He is a damn good pilot.
The coolest job in the world is that of a fighter pilot!
Jolie balade et belle utilisation du terrain pour une approche furtive.
Bravo au pilote !

And what if the pilot decides to drop 200 tactical nuces on them and then take of in ludicrous speed…..

They would have to react really fast if they gonna spot and open fire at a J39 flying Mach 1 at an altitude less than 300 feet
