  • See how to replace the ASUS laptop battery by disassembling the Asus X551m, X551ma, X551mav laptop to perform a quick and easy ASUS laptop battery removal. Then pop in a new ASUS battery and perform a ASUS laptop battery replacement. This is sometimes the best way to fix an ASUS battery not charging problem at home without tech support cost.
If you have a ASUS laptop battery not charging problem or not charging to its full capacity, then you might need to look into replacing your old ASUS laptop battery with a new one. My video shows you a ASUS laptop battery replacement and battery removal process.
You can even see how to replace the ASUS laptop hard drive or mother board if you wanted to replace those hard ware devices too. Also, if you notice that you did not see the laptop memory or RAM. That's because the laptop memory slots are actually under neath the mother board, which requires removing the mother board from the bottom assembly. I will show that is a up coming video on my RUclips channel.
However, for this video I just kept to showing how crazy but easy it is to at the very least change out the laptop battery on this ASUS x551mav laptop. A laptop battery removal or laptop battery replacement is possible on this ASUS laptop, if you just relax and take your time and take some patience in doing it. And of course watch my video too. This way your ASUS battery not charging problem can be fixed in your own home.
If you have an ASUS laptop that has an ASUS battery not charging fully problem or ASUS battery not charging when plugged issue this may be a fix you need. Especially if you want to use your ASUS laptop on battery power only, without AC power, if you get a "ASUS battery plugged in not charging" message. Believe me when I say this ASUS battery replacement is really easy on this ASUS laptop x551m, x551ma and x551mav models. My video will take you through from start to finish in replacing laptop battery, better yet a ASUS battery replaced.
BTW: The ASUS x551m, ASUS x551ma and ASUS x551mav are all the same laptop accept some have a DVD drive and some don't and each model is sold at different stores too but uses the same laptop battery.
Also keep in mind that a CPU upgrade for ASUS x551m laptop is not possible without replacing the motherboard. However, you can do a ASUS x551m memory/ upgrade on this laptop to 8GB max.

I just replaced the battery on my ASUS following Nick's instructions and it worked like a charm. I had great hesitation taking off the top and messing with the connections but thanks to Nick's "do this and not that" I was able to do it in ten minutes. Thanks Nick. You will definitely be my go to source for any future computer issues.

Thanks for this tutorial. It gave this old lady confidence to try replacing the battery on my Asus. I have a slightly different model- X500Z, (there are NO tutorials for this particular model I could find), and there are some slight differences, if anyone is trying to replace the batter on one of these babies. There are 10 screws in the back (no big deal). INSIDE, however, is where I was, at first, flummoxed. The large tether to the top (attached to the space bar) is NOT removable- it is glued down. So, what I discovered is that you do not have to remove any of the 3 tethers. You can simply gently move the keyboard/top assembly forward to expose the battery up against the hinge. The battery has a little plug just in front of the battery, so you might have to lift the top forward a little to see where it plugs in. Just unplug it, noticing which side is up (the flat side goes down). Then, as you did, pull the old battery out. Pop the new one in, plug it in, and replace the keyboard/top assembly! Easy as pie!

Thank you! That video was very helpful when I had to replace the battery in an ASUS X551. Seeing how everything was put together really helped. Initially I followed your instructions on opening up the casing and detached the ribbon cables to the mouse pad and keyboard. (I left the ribbon cable to the power switch attached and simply placed the keyboard assembly to the left.) I took the battery out and reinstalled it to see if that solved the charging problem. It didn't so a new battery was ordered. I found reattaching the ribbon cables "fiddly", but managed it OK. When the new battery arrived I tried opening the casing again, but this time did not detach the ribbon cables, but simply moved the keyboard towards me enough to gain access to the battery. Old battery out new one in. Success. Thank you again!

Doing this now... I don't even know why you bother disconnecting the three ribbon cables (which is clearly the most touchy part of this operation)... just remove the screws and pop off the top / keyboard as demonstrated.... then lay the keyboard back down and simply slide it towards you... the cables stay connected no problem and viola there is the battery with lots of room to work.

I had not read your comment, prior to replacing mine. I chose to remove the two small ribbon cables and left the large one and that gave me plenty of wiggle room to remove and replace the battery, and those small ribbon cables are very easy to remove and replace. PS: I would NOT suggest purchasing one of those INCORRECT 10 to 15 dollar 14.4v batteries as they could permanently damage your laptop and may not take a proper charge from your OEM charger. The correct OEM ASUS battery for the X551M is the A31N1319 and it is rated at 11.25v and usually sells for around 20 to 25 dollars.

Great Tutorial which I used to replace my battery. There is basically nothing out there on how to access hardware inside an ASUS D550C so this was a life saver at the time I did that about a year ago. Now I have a new dilemma which is how to access the RAM so I can upgrade it. My research indicates that there is only 1 slot and it can hold an 8 GB DDR3 RAM board. My computer has a 4GB DDR3 RAM board. I need to upgrade but do not want to order until I am sure how to access the slot. I need help, advise and a video tutorial would be great.

    • @nickscomputerfix
      @nickscomputerfix  5 лет назад

In order to access the RAM slot in this laptop X551MAV, not only would you need to remove everything as shown in this video that you just watched, but you would also need to remove ever thing else as well including the motherboard too. The RAM slot is on the underside of the motherboard which is only accessible by removing the motherboard to get to it. Access to the RAM slot on your D550C may or may not be the same. Hope this helps you out.

Thanks very much for this video, is it possible to turn your laptop on directly with your Battery charger (without using your battery) ?

    Well done, thanks Nick!
Only, now....I have another problem. Replaced the battery as directed, and now the mouse pad is misbehaving. It still moves the cursor around OK, but clicking on the left side is hit and miss. I plugged a mouse into the USB and that works fine. Thoughts?

Mouse/Touch Pad Ribbon cable might not be seated right. Disassemble again and recheck ribbon cable for touch pad.

I tried that. I'll try again. The connections are so nebulous. tough to know when it's seated. I didn't think it would work at all if it wasn't seated properly. Thanks again!

I had a battery problem with an asus laptop 2 years ago, since the support didn’t help at all I though it had no repair, I’m gonna try this and if it works I’ll say it
