That really was a huge hint in the comics before the Madelyne Pryor/Goblin Queen reveal. Really glad they used this storyline for '97, as I always enjoyed when they make use of Mr Sinister and his clones.

Lenore Zann, the voice of Rogue, drew emotions from losing her 17 year old niece to cancer recently, before recording her lines for episode 5 and 7.
Cable is one of the most powerful mutants who ever lived, he's an incredibly powerful telepath and telekinetic. However, he's constantly using his telekinesis to keep the techno organic virus from killing him, so he rarely uses it for anything else.
All 3 of the closing scenes involved Apocalypse. His original name is En Sabur Nur; that was him in his youth in the past. But, he's also still around in the far future that Scott and Jean go to.
Rogue got her strength, invulnerability, and flight by touching Carol Danvers too long.
Yup. And she did this when she was a "bad guy". Rogue couldn't tell her memories and feelings from Carol's and it was driving her insane, so she sought Prof. X's help and joined the X-Men =)
Which is why I think they didn't use that for Rogue in the movies - the two characters were owned by two different companies at the time, so they we're allowed to be linked.

However, Carol's powers weren't the only ones that Rogue had permanently absorbed. After she lost Carol's powers, she absorbed Sunfires powers permantly, when he died. When they couldn't adopt Carol's powers, they could have Rogue absorb Sunfire, which is an X-Men character and Fox had the rights for this character.

@@Pit_Wizard out of character it’s because Azazel was a bad retcon made to have the same powerset, but in lore it’s because Mystique shapeshifted to have Azazel’s cock and balls to get Destiny pregnant, but her DNA half of Kurt’s DNA only partially reverted back to her genetics post conception
@@Pit_Wizard There are a bunch of mutants who are related and have totally different mutations, and a bunch of mutants who have the same mutation and are not related at all. Plus, the story literally says that Mystique takes some of Azazel's dna to help her conceive Kurt with Destiny.

Forge is the one who helped Bishop make the time travel device in the future & he’s part of the X-Force which is the same as the X-Men but funded by the government. & Scotts brother is also on the team but Scott just doesn’t know it lol it’s so funny . It’s in the original show

Fun fact: In the comics Scott had a telepathic affair with Emma frost not Madeleine which lead to the two dating after Jeans death. Madeleine also got with Scott's brother Alex Summers aka Havoc.
The reason Mr Sinister is so obsessed with Scott, Jean and the summers family is because Scott and his family has Superior DNA. Meaning Scott has the perfectly pure mutant genes to create omega level mutants. The superior DNA also gives members of the Summers the potential to supass omega level. Scott has a third brother Gabrielle summers aka Vulcan who's beyond omega level. With Jean already being an Omega, Sinister knew a child born between the two would be absolutely unstoppable. Sinister also owned and ran the orphanage Scott lived in he abused and experimented on him for years.

Sorry love. En Sabah Nur is the human name of Apocalypse. It’s a mix up of the Arabic greeting SabaH an-Nur. Literally it means Morning of Light but it’s used as a response to Good Morning in Arabic. Apocalypse was the first mutant and was born in ancient Egypt.
Selene is the other one who is 6,000 years old
Actually Apocalypse isn't the first mutant. When he was first introduced back in the day he was presented as being the first mutant, but that is no longer the case. Selene is 17,000 years old and Azazel is something like 15,000 years old. There are some more that predate Apocalypse as well. He is the first of what is considered the "second generation" of mutants.
14:22 Yeah, Rogue absorbs anyone's knowledge/skills and powers. However, he can alter her personality sometimes as well. If she hold onto someone for to long, she can keep them permanently. She did thos to Captain Marvel in the comics and the original series. She held on to Carol for so long, she was able to permanently keep the power of flight and strength. I really hope to see Rogue do this in the MCU! 🙏🏽💪

X-Men 97 is a masterpiece
We rarely see Cable use his very powerful TK because he’s passively, but constantly, using it to keep the techno-organic virus from spreading. His arm isn’t a prosthetic, it’s the part of him overtaken by the virus. So even though he’s born to be a super powerful double mutant dynasty Kwisatz Haderach eugenics superbeing coveted by Sinister and Apocalypse, in action he’s debuffed to be more like a lower level telekinetic/telepath who mainly relies on combat training and advanced weapons.

As a long-time X-Men fan and fan of the original series, even though I wasn't born when the show was around, HOLY S*** , THIS SERIES IS EXCEPTIONAL (pun intended). Now this is how you do a tv show revival successfully!
No joke, this series is so masterfully well written, with absolutely phenomenal animation and truly compelling characters and complex, deep, dark themes that genuinely make you question the inherent societal bigotry and how to process internal thoughts of fighting for equality and how to do so in a way to help society grow from the status quo of discrimination and to do more than allow yourself to become numb to a neverending struggle that you feel like isn't your responsibility. Truthfully, this series is some of the *BEST MARVEL MEDIA WE'VE EVER SEEN SINCE ENDGAME* (except No Way Home, GOTG3 and Loki)!
Compared to how phenomenal this series was, Fox movies seem like amateur student films with such a bare-bones understanding of how truly incredible and insane the X-Men stories can be when you truly hire people who care about these amazing characters.
After watching this show and its epic finale, Bastion became one of my favourite X-Men/Marvel villains. Theo James especially gave a superb performance as Bastion; now, whenever I read a comic featuring Bastion, I'll hear his voice. Not only him but the entire voice cast, especially for Cyclops, Magneto, Storm, Jean, Charles, Gambit, Rogue, Jubilee, Wolverine, Morph, and Nightcrawler, all did a tremendous job. Bro; the number of cameos in this series is insane! Cyclops and Jean saying goodbye to Cable/Nathan had me in tears🥺.

The reason it's the best is that they've taken all the best moments from different comics, then weave it together to incorporate it what the X-Men '97 has earlier established.
Making it both lore accurate, but still make sense to overall story of the entire series' characters and world.
When Charles says he forgot about his “greatest gift” in the Shi’ar confrontation, he wasn’t talking about his powers. He was talking about his teaching & professorial expertise.

Ok, so the way that absolute points seem to work is that the event that will mark a turning point for the timeline is inevitable, you can try to change it but it will happen eventually in another way (i.e. Strange trying to prevent Christine's death by not going to the gala but her dying in a restaurant of a heart attack or because of a gas leak in her building) but what you do after the absolute point can actually change and lead you to a different future.
In the case of this series, the absolute point is the Genosha massacre, that cannot be changed, maybe you could delayed it but it will happen eventually, Bastion's war against mutants would happen thanks to that but in this timeline the X-men were able to defeat him unlike the timeline where Cable is from, so yes, they changed the future again because they were able to "defeat" Bastion.
It's been 2 damn months since episode 5 came out and it still makes this 37 year old man cry to hear Rogue say "I can't feel you" every... damn... time...

Tbh some times I like it when a channel does a show a bit later because we're like out of reactions and it's cool to be able to re live it.
This show was truly amazing. It brought back so many memories as a kid in the 90s who watched the original on tv on Saturday mornings on Fox kids. Wolverine, Storm, Gambit, Rogue and Nightcrawler were my favorites. So many crazy moments to Storm losing her powers to getting them back. Gambit sacrifice to save the mutants during the Genosha massacre. The back and forth relationships amongst the characters. The best Marvel show so far. I can't wait for season 2. 57:50 Well actually this might come as a surprise but Mystique being Nightcrawler's mother isn't canon anymore and was retconed just a few months ago in X-Men Blue: Origins #1. Actually it's less of a retcon and instead the new comic restores the original history devised by Mystique’s co-creator, Chris Claremont of having Mystique and her wife Destiny be the biological parents of Nightcrawler. Destiny is the one who gave birth to Kurt and Mystique had transformed into a male form to procreate thus making Mystique Nightcrawler's father.
That’s a real stu-- ass idea. Cause his actual dad( idgaf , he’s still Kurt’s real dad) has the same powers and looks the same as Kurt does. They did that bullshit just appeal to people who really don’t even care for X-men or marvel as a whole. They gotta stop with this catering bullshit 🤦🏾♂️
Mystique was Nightcrawlers' mother in the Original. The show is sticking with that.
@@donnyouttheway4091 That was the original intention of the CREATOR of Mystique. It's what they wanted to always do originally but weren't allowed to because of the time. Also Azazel is terrible character and has nothing interesting going for him. Him being Nightcrawler's father was never as significant as you think otherwise they wouldn't have retconed it.
@@marshsundeen X-Men '97 has clearly drawn inspiration from stories well after the original show. Plus the reveal of Nightcrawler's parentage happened after the show was already made, so there's nothing saying that they won't include that in the future seasons.
I don't know if they are still affordable, but there is a comic book series from the 80's and 90's called "Classic X-Men", which starts right at the All-New, All-Different book, when Storm, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, Colossus first joined the X-Men, and continued on for about a hundred issues. Since they are just reissues, they remain cheap, but the kicker is: there's an original story on the "back side" for the first 50 issues or so. Much more affordable than buying the original Uncanny X-Men comics, some of which are hundreds if not thousands of dollars at this point.

I absolutely love this show. Watching the original made that version of the X Men my favorite version, and this made them even more so
Time travel can be funky. But, I think that Scott and Jean being in the future isn't changing anything. For adult Cable, Jean and Scott being in the future is part of his past. We as fans will just be seeing whatever happened while they were there. So from a canon respect, Jean and Scott always went into the future and encountered a younger Cable. Something similar happened in the comics in a limited series called "The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix". In that case, Scott and Jean's minds were taken into the future and put into two bodies. In this story, Cable was still a baby and they raised him from then until he was like thirteen if I recall correctly. They actually helped train him in the use of his telepathy and telekinesis.
Chiiilllld, this whole video was so much FUN!!! I loved watching you go through it all, but in binge form! And all of those emotional moments STILL made me tear up and I wasn't even watching the full episodes!

Honestly the week break between episode 5 and 7 dealing with the aftermath of genosha and rogue worked really well, made me excited and anticipating more. I think this show really made use of the fact that it was on a weekly release in terms of building tension and letting it linger with people

Nathan seem to be at least 13 years of age& left there around 3999 where he bounce from time to time,where Nathan aged a bit( current Nathan looks around late 50 ish in age)? So, the present time where the X-Men are still alive,represent Nathan's future form him specifically?.
You should watch Young Royals, but be careful because that show is a roller coaster of feeling. You'll be jumping with joy on one minute but then sobbing in the next one. It's worth it though !!!!

For those who don't know Cable's real powers.... The Techno-organic virus that he was infected with turns organic matter (like the human body) into metal, wires and cables (like his name), bolts and nuts. The thing is that the baby Nathan was never cured of the techno-organic virus that he was infected with (by Apocalypse in the comics, and by Lister Sinister in this series), his "robotic" arm is his real arm. Cable has also huge telekinetic powers, in par or even superior to those of Jean Grey, but he very rarely uses them in a showy way because he's constantly using his powers to contain the TO virus in him so that it doesn't spread to the rest of his body and stays confined to his left arm (and some other parts).
